  • @mudvayne6987
    @mudvayne6987 Před 2 lety +42

    Yeah no. If you single sleeve your card, you will definitely have dust between the card and the sleeve that will scratch the card over time. Why would you use exactly this argument for double sleeving? Double sleeving solves that exact problem. Of course you have to take care that there is no dust when you sleeve them up initially. After that you're good.
    If you're re-sleeving you don't have to change the inner sleeve. Also today there is no good reason to use resealable sleeves. If you use the right combination of sleeves (e.g. perfect fits innter + dragon shields outer) re-sleeving is super fast and easy. Re-sleeving a single sleeved card will scratch the card every time. You want as little movement as possible on the surface of a new card. So you want to put it into a inner sleeve after you got it and never remove it from there.
    Your argument is: I don't like a tall deck. Which I accept. The rest of your arguments are really weak.

  • @CCCASMR
    @CCCASMR Před 2 lety +133

    I gotta disagree hard on your point about dust inside inner sleeves. The point is to make sure there is as little dust as possible before sleeving, then the double sleeve makes it almost impossible for that dust to get in. Either Way, if you notice dust, you can simply remove the sleeve and clean it off. The risk of liquid damage is way to high not to double sleeve, in my opinion. I do understand your point about the time consumption though

    I usually just sleeve all my cards in the tighter sleeves. It’s awesome for putting them in my binder and holding them. They are the normal card size and not larger like the dragon shield sleeves. When I play. I use the same color sleeves for all my decks. So the cards never leave the perfect fit sleeves. Helps prevent dust into them. Also I double sleeve because sometimes the corners of the sleeves will crimp. The second sleeve provides extra protection when that happens.

    I get your reasons and they make sense for players that play and trade a lot. Sleeving and de-sleeving is a constant hassle. Double sleeving isn't worthy the time indeed if you do that consistently often. The sleeves getting dirty eventually is another good reason.
    However, if you don't play as much, you won't spend much time de-sleeving.
    The dusting problem is such a weird issue to bring up. Unless you really change sleeves on the cards all the time, dusting should be never be a problem. The only occasions dust get in as often to be really an issue is if you are doing that in a dusty place (like if you do that in a large venue or badly ventilated LGS which is indeed more common for more active players). I have decks double sleeved for years and have no problem with dust. Dust isn't just a problem with double sleeving. It would be a problem with single sleeving as well.

I've got a few cheaper decks now (one of them can be purchased for under $60, and though it has no infinite combos or anything, it's a ton of fun and actually pretty dang powerful)...but given the choice I'm always going to choose my powered deck. The mass amounts of super cheap mana, excellent draw, combos and high powered counterspells just make the deck a TON of fun to play. For me it's fun playing broken things. My cheaper decks are fun for lower powered games, but I'd personally rather play in high powered tables (which I can TOTALLY see others not liking. The tables I play my expensive deck at are full of cheap/free counterspells and turn 1-3 wins).

    Double sleeving cards is the way if you have expensive cards especially foils, the double sleeve keeps dirt and dust out and away from, also reduces moisture in the air that can affect it and Pringle the shit out of it. Single sleeving cards over time crates wear especially if your shuffle rough like I seen in this video, or if you relseeve a lot, over time little nicks on the corners and sides add up and make a noticably big difference over time and when reselling a card can literally be the difference between near mint and light played, so yeah for the most part your cards are fine but over time and or one oopsy and your yelling more than oopsy.

      Honestly short of protecting your cards from water damage double sleeves don’t do much. I think anybody who is making the decision to single sleeve based on shuffle feel won’t care if their deck is no longer NM after years of play in tournaments. I find with a lot of players the shuffling is part of the tournament experience and they are willing to pay the price for that feeling. In reality you might lose 50$ out of a modern deck from wear on the cards if you single sleeve it, and play for years in tournaments.

I will never double sleeve for pokemon, the decks aren't worth much ($200 for a tier 1 standard deck) and since you have to shuffle so much theres a huge time deficit for having a double sleeved deck. However while playing magic I will double sleeve, I don't really care too much because I only play at stores sometimes and $1000 modern decks scare me into double sleeving lol. I have noticed that in pokemon when I single sleeve that the tops of my cards get dusty and grimy whereas in magic its the inner sleeve which gets yucky, so double sleeving is definitely good for protection. Given the fact that everyone does what they like whit their deck (because this is a game and each one of has has to do what he likes to enjoy the game) i prefer always double sleeve because of the protection and because the shuffle part is not my priority
    Said this, everybody is attaking thi man like he said who double sleeves is an idiot... he only said what he prefers for god's sake

    The dragon shield art sleeves are bad. Especially when double sleeved.

    I like you channel, but I have to dissagrea about this, I have seen so many single sleeved cards, over time wen dust and dirt gets in to the top they will be dameged at the top. Also don't even talk about spilled drinks, and if you resleeve them all the time there is slight mi ro damage every time, if you use good quality inner sleeves there won't be any dirt in them that will hirt the cards, also just dust of the cards before putting them in inner sleeves, and when that is done you can resleeve them in outers thousands of time without any damage on the cards, also that shuffling you do will hurt the cards over the years, i always shuffle gently and pileshuffles half the time. The extra stiffness that the double sleeving gives your cards also protects them, actually there is so many pros to double sleeve your cards. Modern decks these days are most around $1000, so its not worth damage them in my mind.

    It's quite dumb to use the excuse of double sleeving a card improperly dirty will damage it, so will just sleeving it dirty ffs. Playing with sleeved card, dirt and dust will always find away in there and gradually through the years and slowly scoff your cards. I know cause I played back in 1999-2006 when there weren't any double sleeves. Also if a drop a water touch the top of your sleeve your card will most always be water damaged for life.
