What? No Quad-sleeving? I come here for the latest and greatest innovations in cardboard and cardboard accessories. Hell, it's even backwards compatible with double-sleeved cards.
edit: I should mention, I have been experimenting in card-sleeving/lamination technologies. The tech isn't quite there yet, but with enough grants, I think we can get there!
Why stop at 4?
Get ready, next theyll tell you to laminate your cards
are you ok ? you seemed really bored the entire video
Where can I find your Sliver EDH Deck list that you seem to be sleeving here?? Thanks Prof for all your amazing content! Using your videos to build three commander decks right now
On the next Episode: How to apply a kevlar vest to every single one of your cards
HEY Then we'd finally get to play at school in the USA
@@BigChungus-fl7ss i see the headlines: "students life saved by mtg cards".
Im pretty sure we have already reached the point where a commander deck could stop a bullet tbh
depleted uranium reactive armor (transparent one side)
Like how Cable slipped the coin that saved Deadpool into his vest in Deadpool 2, but with a Magic card lol
I love the commitment to the dry yet incredibly stylised delivery
He's doing a bit on his old content lol
@@TheBrothers759 Oh! Good to know. I was getting Loadingreadyrun vibes (to the tune of Dave's Spokesman).
Me too lfmao
I couldn't stop laughing. "That's the commander...."
The dial tone is what got me, lol!
I actually quad-sleeve my Commander decks. I use a regular penny-sleeve, then a clear Dragon Shield, then I use a laminator to completely seal the card, then I place the whole thing in an acrylic PSA Holder Case. The deck is about 33" tall when stacked up, which really adds to the intimidation factor. I use a few suitcases and a Sherpa to haul my decks to and from the LGS.
...
If your entire deck isn't graded and slabbed, are you even _really_ playing Magic?
But how’s the shuffle feel?
@@Maximumoverbite I have to use a concrete truck to shuffle, so it feels a little awkward....
@@ninjanoodle2674Little awkward but at least you won’t be topdecking nothing but lands!
Oh man, I've missed this kind of content. I'm so happy that Wizards actually went long enough without releasing a new product or screwing something up for the Professor to make his first ordinary video in, what, seven years?
*I give this video an A+ for excitement, enthusiastic narration, well rounded plot, and an excellent surprise ending.*
There's a certain charm when watching these old videos. Nostalgic feels for sure.
Is this a reupload?
@@Cixon14 I see a DMR box in the background so probably not.
Interesting joke to make.
@@Digital_Butterfly Yeah I was confused. Like what is this man saying?
Prof can always make me laugh with this stuff
One day, we'll be quadruple sleeving our cards
If you use top loaders, you can! All you need is a large enough deckbox for a top loader commander deck
And then realizing too late that the deck has double sided cards
Then you'll be looked down upon for only triple sleeving your cards.
"You triple sleeve? Do you even care about your cards? God, I can't watch you play with those triple sleeved cards"
Soon, everyone will just be using slabs.
i triple sleeved deck where each card is in a plastic top loader
THE OLD INTRO IS BACK YOOO
Dude, I have missed this type of content on the channel for a while now even if this one in particular might be satire(makes it even better honestly). I used to rewatch the sleeve and deck box reviews all the time. Only thing missing is the durability tear test. Wish you the best in the future to you and your team, Prof.
Dragon Shield card sleeve designers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should
We play magic around 6 hours a week, always in the pub.
I can confirm when someone spills a pint next to a single, or even a double, sleeved deck, there is anger.
Triple sleeve is exactly the solution we've been looking for!
I'm more of the opinion that sealable inners in a double sleeve setup is enough to go by, but I do understand there's a place for triple sleeving too. Not everyone can get sealables and some also want to protect their normal sleeves. Plus, it can add that sense of security if the effort and cost is worth it to you.
I have to wonder though. Does a spilled drink immediately mean the outer sleeve is getting replaced, or are they all good when they've dried out?
@@Magicannon_ I use sealed inners on stuff like mana crypts, mix diamonds, duals etc.
Outers are usually ok if you get some paper towels and dry them off straight away, worse result is just a bit sticky and can clean that.
@@Magicannon_ sleeves to protect sleeves, this is the kind of stuff capitalism is eager for.
@@igormorgado - The extra layer of sleeves isn't to protect the sleeves, it's to protect the card. If you spill water on some single-sleeved cards, the liquid can still get into the top/open edge of the sleeve. Most of the card will be protected, but the top edge will still get water damaged. If it's double sleeved, that top edge of the card is protected from the liquid which now would have to seep all the way to the bottom of the card to reach the gap before it would damage the bottom edge of the card. The sealable inner sleeves protect the bottom edge as well, but still have a little gap on the bottom corners.
Triple sleeving seems like overkill, but at least from what I can tell this video is more or less a joke (a dry, _dry_ joke), although, this is a real product, so at least someone doesn't thing so, lol.
I seal all my cards in 3/4 inch resin
The value i find with outer sleeves is not that you can triple sleeve your stuff, but it allows you to play card sleeves with pictures on the back of them that are usually peel-ey
only thing missing was the water test
also we're getting ever closer to the magical 7 sleeves for one card
I prefer having the final outer sleeve opening on the bottom, it helps to prevent dust falling into the top of the sleeve.
Same
And is compatible with normal double sleeving orientation, which is a win.
@@erfunk except that those that already didnt like the dust falling in also double sleeved it the other way around.
@@tymenvanessen3119 I never thought about double sleeving upside down and I hate dust falling in my sleeves. Now I have to go home and flip a few hundred sleeves around.
instructions unclear, dust now falling into bottom of sleeves :(
Pro tip: don't stop sleeving until you've spent more money on sleeves than cards for any given deck. It's the only way to ensure complete protection.
Why you gotta attack us like that man
I sleeve my non-TCGs with Dragon Shield inner sleeves, and some of them ARE cheaper than the protection :/
When are we getting a review of metal sleeves? I would love to hear the sounds a metal sleeved deck would make when mash shuffled.
The disgusting thing is stainless/steel top loaders actually exist
With how thorough the Professor is with sleeving, I kind of had hoped for the full stairway to protection heaven: A size comparison of an unsleeved commander deck, up to a triple sleeved one. Also please give me a call once we have options for quintuple sleeving, and the decks become as tall as a small child, or a medium sized dog. This way I can do my daily stretching routine while also enjoying a game of magic.
"Also please give me a call once we have options for quintuple sleeving"
These sleeves don't look much bigger than the regular outer sleeves... I wonder if they'd fit in penny sleeves? And once you're in penny sleeves, you can fit that in a toploader.
Wow this is nostalgic. The intro, the camera angles, the general vibe. Thanks for this blast from the past!
One legit use for the Clear Outers would be to get the coveted Dragon Shield Matte shuffle feel for your UltraPro Offical MTG art Sleeves.
And at that point you can just skip the inner sleeve and still get the effectiveness of double sleeving.
@@Jrizzle7426 yeah very true!
ohhh i didnt think of this... those ultra pro sleeves look good... but id be lying if i said they shuffled/separated greart
100% this! So happy to finally not rip my ultra pros but still have "blinged out"/official art when I want to.
Just found jace the mind sculptor sleeves so i need to triple sleeve my foil dimir shadow deck... But idk if my 80+ sidewinder deck box is gonna be able to hold it lol... Ima try it tho.
This is gold. The delivery was spot on. Love this style of humor.
Ah, perfection! A card sleeve review video from the Professor! This will certainly be a treat.
IT WAS A TREAT HOLY SMOKES THE IRONY AND COMEDY IS TOP TIER
Love your humor Prof! And thank you for all that you do for this community! I hope you're doing well 😊
One of the best videos I have ever seen. I was going to ask about that strange green contraption you had, but you wove that in flawlessly. I also love the understated anouncement of The Academic. Bravo, my friend, bravo.
Hey there prof! Just commenting to say, I love your channel and appreciate all you've done for the community. Since getting into MTG your videos have been an absolute asset!
I love how Professor is trying to be extra dry on top of what his older videos were, and it's cracking him up. Spot on mix of knowledge and entertainment.
I absolutely LOVE this dry style of humor in your videos, Professor!
I have one triple sleeved deck, it’s a roughly $2500 Prossh deck, and the sleeved them selves were $40 import from JP in packs that only had 60 sleeves in each pack, so I had to buy em twice for my deck 💀
Totally worth it, and the whole deck, dice and tokens are all in the red/grey kickstarter deck Prof !
So thanks !
That sounds pretty awesome i cant lie😮
Character Guards, right? I have mine too for my Tymna&Tana. I wonder why they sell the packages with specifically 60 sleeves. All of the illustrated sleeves sold on Comiket are also on 60 sleeves...
Dayum, and I thought my $150 Atraxa deck was worth triple sleeving lmao
YOOOOO a fellow Prossh player!! I finally picked up the single Meathook I needed for mine, and I can 100% understand why that needs a triple sleeve, bahahaha!!
@@amberhernandez nice ! I still need to get a copy of meathook
Dear Gonti, love Sophie.
Thank you Brian Kibler your videos are always the best.
Ever since I saw your outer sleeves video I triple sleeved a few of my decks that had some lower quality sleeves but with artwork I really love. This not only triple protected the cards but it also protected the artwork sleeves.
Reminds me of some of the first videos I watched from Prof😊
This was fantastic, makes me miss the old how to videos.
I haven't been playing magic for years now. I still watch your channel all the time. I love your sense of humor. Cheers.
Still can't believe that your double sleeving video is what originally got me into magic the gathering. Thank you prof.
Most enthusiastic episode to date! Bravo!
Glad to have this great video just in time to triple sleeve From Cute to Brute!
my friend, you are such a goof, thank you for being who you are; we love it. good video!
This video has given me so much joy. The Deadpan delivery was wonderful
"My wild dreams about cardboard and cardboard accessories."
Okay, shut it down. The Professor is turning into Hank Hill.
Time to use Matte Clear & Matte Outers to get the Double Matte action
Prof, I gotta say that I still really, really like these community-college style stale infovids. They're what hooked me on your channel years ago and I love them whenever you do one. Don't lose these types of videos on your channel, they're still really useful and good.
Seen the title and was asking, "Why?" Glad I watched. Needed a pick me up this morning. Thanks Professor!
This is such a funny video. I love it.
I honestly can't tell if he's recommending triple sleeving or making fun of it.
I think out of all of your videos I laughed the most at this one. The dry delivery is SO out ot character but you nailed it. Also I'm extremely excited that your deck box is going retail!
This video was PAUSE (Pause) very entertaining. The excitement was palpable. Thumbs upward Dr Professor!
Feel like the dragon shield inners with the wrap around tab is the same level of protection and doesn't cause your deck to be an unwieldy monster.
Blink twice if you have been kidnapped
The dry humor in this video is so well received. Honestly the funniest I've seen yet. Bravo!
Loved everything about the acting and editing in this vid!
Triple sleeves?... Just play with proxies and carry your graded deck around in a bulletproof briefcase at that point
I love videos like this. The dry delivery, the heavily-overplayed "acting," and small gags spread throughout turns a simple video on sleeving into a great watch!
My favorite part was the touch where Prof points to the right of the video for the Double Sleeved video only to have it, of course, pop up on the left. Perfection.
This is bringing back some memories. Love the classic old school TCC vibe.
Awesome throw back feels. More uploads in this style!!
Ive been thinking these accessory product review style videos all week! Thank you Prof!
This is fantastic! I have older dragon shield art gloss sleeves that slide everywhere and suck to try and keep together and shuffle. While I don’t use inners, I can use the outer clear mattes and make my deck nicer and easier to use!
This video was incredibly helpful, in that I laughed for the whole runtime and it brightened my day
The dry approach was well thought out. Good stuff
I love so much how serious faced you are while very clearly being comedic Prof lmao!!! I hope that we get more bloopers of you breaking character because you couldn't hold back your laughter hahaha xD
One click and this was exactly what I was looking for in a video about triple sleeves damn sir you done did it!
For a while I've thought triple sleeving was a bit excessive, but the clear outer sleeves would probably be good for preserving some of my limited run art sleeves that I can't get replacements for anymore. Plus, seeing the Professor get so visibly excited about them in this video made me put in an order for 10,000 outer sleeves, thanks Professor!
Love the retro video prof ! The nostalgia is real xD
this was a super helpful guide from someone I trust in the community.
Honestly, my favorite video of the year, so far. Like, out of all of them, on CZcams.
🅰️➕
This was informative and the deadpan goofiness is right up my alley 😂 I don’t know how you keep a straight face 😂
I am super excited for the academic coming to game stores next year. That is huge and exciting news!
A brilliant return to form!
Love the satirical take on triple sleeves while slipping in the news that the Academic will be available through retail next year. Congratulations!
Back to the roots content; I appreciate it.
My hippo Commander deck has thick pro fit inner sleeves, starcitygames hippo art sleeves and outer sleeves. Triple sleeved and fits beautifully in my Academic box. Love it!
I love the enthusiasm in this video.
The flat monotone had me expecting a joke, bit disappointed it didn’t happen, but it kind of makes the whole thing funnier.
So glad to hear that your deck box will be coming to gameshops
Much love and respect to you and your channel Professor.
Thank you so much for adding the deck box that can hold it. I already have my two academics hard at work and I wanted to triple-sleeve my Jurassic Park deck. Now I just need to find the sidewinder somewhere.
The end theme music is always awesome. Makes me expect everyone in shuffle up in play is going to jump into the air in celebration looking at a camera in the sky pointed down and there is a freeze frame that then rolls into credits like a bad 80s movie.
Thank you for this video! It was very helpful!
You have truly outdone yourself, professor
This video was very funny, I love both your new and old style of videos
you always bring me a smile prof
I got a laminator for Christmas last year and have been contemplating laminating my EDH decks. Ultimate protection.
thank you for the video, I can't wait for the product to come out so I can have a point of comparison as I currently use kmc character guard (clear, silver and gold).
That phone bit got a good chuckle out of me. Thanks prof!
I have an Edgar Markov signed by the artist in 5 "sleeves". A perfect fit sleeve, a dragon shield side load sleeve, dragon shield matte, ultra pro top loader, and a top loader protector.
This is the content I’ve subbed for
Lets goooo academic coming to LGS, I was a backer but was an idiot with keeping up with the shipping requirements and missed out on meeting the deadline. I will be able to still get my deck box!!! Not upset at the loss of money as I was glad to back such a great passion and much needed product for card game enthusiasts.
This was very informative and hilarious. I love the Proff
I don't own any card games, yet this video was so pleasing to watch. Thank you.
WOOOO! I've been waiting for the day to go out and buy some outer sleeves. I have my sleeves from the Selesnya Guild Kit that are still going strong. Gotta protect that art. They are my oldest sleeves.
I'm so glad Dragon Shield brought these out. I've done triple sleeving for 2 of my Cardfight Vanguard decks using Dragon Shield standard sleeves and the seal and shuffle feel is amazing.
I look forward to transferring this over to my Omanth, Locus of Creation commander deck
We loved seeing the old credits! We always cheer at the leg shift!
So much fun and excitement on a Friday
that dry humor stuff was great. well done. I was not expecting it
Those Pandragon sleeves are so freakin' adorable and I need more of them!
cant wait for the deck box!
Gonna need to pick up some of these clear outers for my recent crafted sleeves, but will probably just double sleeve without an inner.
Another great deck box is the Dex Protection Creation Line Medium size. I've had some for over 8 years and they are still in great working condition. Prof did a review on them forever ago, but I forget what raring he gave them
