    It is is great to see you guys back with Sheer Heart Attack, this is such a fun album. Brighton Rock is of course really Brian's guitar track, parts of the song is just a literal guitar solo.

    Have actually visited Brighton. Great old fashioned hotels and pier. Was a big vacation spot in Victorian times. Thanks for feeding my Queen obsession guys!😊

      Despite my maternal family being from Portsmouth, I've never been myself. But then again, I lived in Lincolnshire for 4 and a half years as a student and never visited Skegness either. Such are the vagaries of not owning/being able to drive a car.

    I've been waiting for the sheer heart attack album reaction lets go. This song has one of the legendary solo's from Brian. He LOVES delay effects, and here he was just experimenting and making a solo out of it. Brian loves making Guitar harmonies by himself using the delay effect, or making runs with the Guitar. I really really love what Roger does on drums here such great playing. Very fun song in general, in the lyrics there is like a conversation going between 2 people but I don't really have on my mind what it was about. Great Reaction.

    Yeah Brighton is a town on the southern coast which was popular as being a summer destination. The Who’s album Quadrophenia takes place there in part.
    Brian’s obsession with the delay effect in the guitar solo is also used in his son Prophet’s Song on their next album. Next level.
    And glad you’re feeling better.

    HURRAY!!! 👏👏 🎉🎊 🙋‍♀️ BRIGHTON ROCK is in my top three Queen songs!! It’s like getting an injection of “pure goodness”! 💉💉🎸🎸 Love how Freddie sings higher for Jenny & lower for Jimmy!! Brilliant!! In the intro you can here someone whistling “Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside” … the same song Queen sings in the outro of Seven Seas of Rhye. 👏👏😁

    I'm sure you know this, but after 'Killer Queen', you have to play the next three tracks together, as they are part of a suite. Try it any other way, and it won't work!

    A number of songs on this album have that pieced together feel. Brian May was seriously ill in hospital after contracting hepatitis whilst in the US. As a consequence the band started recording and then when Brian was well enough he went into the studio and laid down the guitar tracks.
    Also worth noting that this track forms the background to the finale of the film Babydriver

  • @thomasneary7502
    @thomasneary7502 Před rokem

    That version of Brighton Rock is a bit odd, and not the same as my original 74 UK pressing. The basics are there, but It sounds like it's been edited almost out of all recognition and doesn't reflect the genius of both Brian May and Roger Taylor, who drive it like a steam train from beginning to end...As to the reaction, it's not all over the place, everything is where it's meant to be, but whatever they've done in the editing/mixing of that modern repress has removed so much from the original, and it does it no justice.

    BRIAN MAY

  • @radicaladz
    @radicaladz Před 2 lety

    Well this was the motivation I needed to get up and do stuff. ;p

    • @radicaladz
      @radicaladz Před 2 lety

      Fun fact: the writing and recording this song, along with Stone Cold Crazy, predates the founding of Motorhead by almost a year. So if you think about it, Brian May technically invented speed metal a year before Lemmy. ;)

    • @radicaladz
      @radicaladz Před 2 lety

      More fun facts: Brighton is a beach town on the south coast of England - sort of like the Asbury Park/Coney Island of Britain: boardwalk, pebble beach, carnival rides, colourful lights ("illuminations"), that sort of thing; it's pretty much what passed for a fun public holiday destination for lower middle class people here for a chunk of the 20th Century, but you'd also get gangs of Mods (a gang/subculture in the 60s) on scooters heading down there to rumble with the Rockers. The title's also a pun on "sticks of rock", multicoloured hard candy similar to what Americans would call a candy cane, that comes in rod-form and are typically sold at seaside towns, with words (often the name of the town/resort) printed/embedded in them. It's also the name of a gangster novel by Graham Greene, which has been turned into movies a couple times, once with Richard Attenborough in the lead.

    • @radicaladz
      @radicaladz Před 2 lety

      Also, if you haven't seen Edgar Wright's film Baby Driver, the climax of the movie is set to/built around this song, and it plays almost in its entirety. I had a hard time giving that movie good press for a while thanks to the stain of Kevin Spacey's involvement, but if you can compartmentalise that side of things and don't necessarily have to pay for it, wink wink nudge nudge, the movie makes incredible use of music in general and this song particularly. MCA will approve, I'm sure.

    • @radicaladz
      @radicaladz Před 2 lety

      Even more fun facts: the main solo section for this started off as the a live jam section for when they'd play Son and Daughter from Queen I - they'd do the climbdown at the end of that track, segue into Brian's solo, then circle back around for a reprise of S&D's chorus. Sometimes they'd even merge the two together.

    hello !! I am here to recommend a song of the boy group BTS; if you want to get a taste of who they are exactly, go watch ON kinetic manifesto film . and put the subtitles on because they have really good lyrics. they make their owns lyrics and produce most of their beats. sometimes they receive beats and songs from others big artists and producers but they are the main producers of their music( since the beginning of their careers) and the song ON gives you a good impression of what kind of music they generally put out . can't wait for you to see it. Ho ! and they are seven boys. ages are from 24 TO 29 years old. so they are not as young as they seem to be haha ! they debuted in 2013 and it was a pretty difficult start because their company lacked resources to promote them. so they built themselves from the ground up and it might be hard to imagine for people that don't really follow them because they are everywhere now. but they are pretty down to hearth and really humble people, and it reflect in most of their songs
