    Thank you for the video! Would getting an IR light help increase tracking accuracy or those lights only used for low/no light setting?
    Cheers!

    Hey Jamie, how did you get the Quest to work with the index controllers? I was thinking of switching from my index to a quest pro, using vive trackers for full body etc, but kinda want to keep the index controllers so I can also have the touch finger tracking from those, pretty much ditching the quest controllers. I tried looking up some stuff, but a lot of it is conflicting, I saw in your video that you got it working, was wondering if you could tell me how? :P plz?

      You need two watchmen dongles (steamvr dongles) to connect the controllers without the headset. There are some on Amazon that people flash themselves and sell.
      Then you use openvr play space calibrator to sync the quest headset play space, and the steamvr play space. If you have an additional vive tracker, you can attach it to the quest headset and then the play space will be automatically calibrated every time and will never drift

      @@JamieVatarga thank you soo much! I assume the tracker that you put on the headset itself needs to be one that works with the lighthouses right? Rather than a standalone one like slime or vive ultimate right?

    hello jamie ^-^ ! I need a little help, I recently bought the quest 3 but I don't yet understand how to work on hand tracking on vrchat, I activated them on my quest and it works very well, but as soon as I let go of the controllers to do it in game it doesn't work, my character's hands remain linked to the controller, what can I do so that I can use hand tracking on vrchat? (I don't use virtual desktop, I only just got quest 3 so I don't know)
    Thanks for helping me :D

    Hai there have a question. I just recently jumped down the rabbit hole of VR/PCVR. Looking for my first headset I really like the tracking and look of the Index controllers and they seem like they would fit my hands much better then the controllers the Quest 3 comes with.
    In your opinion using both the Valve index and now the quest 3 headsets, would it be worth it to get the quest 3 and get the Index controllers and base stations to use them from valve? Ill be mainly using PCVR and some of my family would be using it as well.
    If the pancake lenses and resolution in the quest 3 is worth the trade off of being connected with a display port with the Valve Index For PCVR game like Half life Alyx, Boneworks, Pavlov, VR chat and other games.
    Thanks You!

      Virtual desktop streaming has gotten good enough that I don’t think visuals are a concern anymore. Regarding the index controllers, while I do prefer the index controllers, in most games there’s not much benefit. The touch controllers already have a sort of touch sensing configuration, and while the index controllers are more advanced in this aspect, it really only works for a handful of social games

    • @Grimdehawk
      @Grimdehawk Před 4 měsíci

      @@JamieVatarga That's actually good to hear was a bit concerned how the bit rate would handle with most games while streaming though VD. My biggest concern with the touch controllers that meta uses. is the size I haven't actually held one but based of pictures it looks like it would only fit halfway into my hand/s I really appreciate the info and didnt realize there was some touch sensing going on with their controllers either.
      Im still very much in-between both headsets as I see pros and cons to both, Im starting to lean more towards the Quest3 based off the resolution and picture, My biggest concern now if I do go that route is battery life, as I feel >2 hours of play time feels very short and having to stop playing every couple hours just to charge the headset for a few hours feels like it would get annoying. Curious how if you do help fix this problem? are you using interchangeable batteries(if thats even a thing) or can you play while the headset is charging.
      Thank you for the advice < 3

    • @JamieVatarga
      @JamieVatarga  Před 4 měsíci

      @@Grimdehawk you can play while charging if you use a longer cable that supports PD protocol, and you use the original charger. Using a generic cable or trying to just charge it from a computer usb won’t keep it topped up. There are also headbands like the bobo s3 headband that has hot swappable batteries, each battery adds an additional 2 hours

    fingers tracking works so well on quest 2. I'm upset how crappy it is on quest 3

    • @JamieVatarga
      @JamieVatarga  Před 2 měsíci

      Huh? Quest 3 finger tracking is better than on quest 2. If you’re talking about the tracking in this video specifically, that’s a limitation of the PC version of VRchat, and how it is simulating index controllers. VRChat will soon get a skeletal finger tracking update that should bring PC finger tracking on par with quest stand alone finger tracking
