Hello Miranda👋🏾🥰!!!! Yess, I love Rosemunde Pilcher” thanks to your Wonderful recommendations, I own two of the books “September” (of course 😂) and “Business As Usual” Miranda the covers of your books make me so happy they’re beautiful, the background of this video is like StoryTime at a bookstore or Library, I love rabbits, I have a puzzle of a rabbit I actually framed it’s titled “ The Kiss” by the artist Robert Bissell.. oh!!!! One more thing Miranda I’m having a great time reading Agatha Christie’s Books, I’m probably one of the few people who is just getting familiar with her Fantastic writing as an adult 🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️... I know.....I just finished “The A.B. C. Murders” and now I’m currently reading “Evil Under the Sun” smh!!! I realized I was reading them out of order because as you know there’s a list on each book in order... so..the adventure will continue with me circling back to “The Mysterious Affair at Styles and “The Murder at the Vicarage” whoa!! What a long comment and I actually had to stop writing because I could have...blah blah blahed , on and on for another ten minutes...My day starts early it’s not even 3am where I live..thank you for starting my day off great🥰 ☀️

Thanks so much, Kiki! I love the fold-out card too; I don't think it comes out in the video, but there are even some ripening blackberries in the picture which makes it even more September feeling for me! So glad you're enjoying Agatha Christie; I think her earlier books are her best (though really I love them all), so you've got some great reads ahead of you!! Hope you have a good day after your very early start! xxx

I have never seen anyone talk about the All of a Kind family series. I read them as a child in the 70’s from the library over and over and then couldn’t find them for years here in Australia so when I went to the US in 2008 I purchased them there and often re read them.

The one book I know for sure I'll be reading is the new Laura Shepherd-Robinson historical fiction mystery, Daughters of Night. It's set in Georgian London and the story takes place in September so very excited for it!

Autumn has always been my favorite season. The weather in New England has been unbearably humid this year, so I'm looking forward all the more to crisp fall days. I adored the All of the Kind books, and over the years had forgotten the name of the series. It's lovely to be reminded of them. I always walk away from your channel wishing I could read a good 4 - 5 books a day. I don't often return to young adult or children's literature, but I've already tracked down The School with a Difference and Beswitched. They sound fabulous. Looking forward to diving into Period Piece. xx

Such an inspiring list! I'm finishing Alasdair Grey's Poor Things and I have to say it's a perfect autumnal read; gothic and incredibly fun. Oh, and set in Scotland - which I also find naturally autumnal. The Prime of Jean Brodie is meant to follow. As for poetry, Mary Oliver's nature writing is irresistible in fall.

In September I will be reading "A Fortnight in September" because of your video with lovely Donna last year. And finally Barbara Pym's "Quartet in Autumn" gets a Spanish edition (about time!). It comes out the 6th of September. A cosy reads book club I'm in chose it for our September read, so I will be reading it with some lovely ladies that love Barbara Pym as much as I do.
Oh, and one of these ladies sent me "Business as Usual" for my birthday in June this year, I read it a couple of weeks ago and I looooved it. So I'm really glad that you recommend it here, it is definitely an autumn-winter book.

I love that your mom made you muffins for the first day of school! I am planning to read Lady Audley's Secret for the first time in September. Hi Miranda, September always seems such a busy month for books to be read and your list is full of possibilities, as always. I am definitely going to find a copy of John Moore's September Moon as my late Mum regularly went hop picking and it was one of her most treasured memories, I have some really old photos of her and her Mum in Kent hop picking. Last year in October I read The Picture of Dorian Gray and I think I’ve stumbled on to a new fall/late October tradition. Another wonderful video, Miranda! Love your September book choices! Just got in the mail today a vintage 1953 hardback of Period Piece with such charming illustrations. I plan to listen to A Fortnight in September next month on audiobook. I've loved listening to the Lord Peter Wimsey series. Miss Read's books are scrumptious and I devoured the Anne of Green Gables books over and over in my teens and 20s! Hi Miranda, discovered your Comfort Book Club a few months ago. Love the choices, it’s opening my eyes to books from an era I didn’t know much about. Having lost both my parents I love the dynamic you have with your mum. It reminds me of the books my mum and I shared, our relationship and the friendship that develops between grown up daughters and their mums. Having viewed this vlog to get some ideas for next reads you mention the Tenement Museum. For our 40th & 60th birthdays my mum and I went to New York, the Tenement Museum was so very interesting and a great companion visit to Ellis Island. So thanks for the recommendations and the lovely remembrances. Best wishes to both you and Donna.

Thank you so much for your recommendations. I just discovered your site! I look forward to another Rosamond Pilcher tale!!! My family and I had the opportunity to visit the tenement museum--just before Covid--went to the Irish tenement and pictured my grandparents there!!!

I love Anne of Windy Willows and must read it again soon - I usually read all the Anne books in order but it won't take long to get to it. You've recommended so many titles that I like the sound of including The Fortnight in September, Heaven to Betsy (it's available at Amazon and Abe Books), Business as Usual and Beswitched. I already have The Reading List on my 'to buy' list. Also I like many of Jane Shaw's titles - I just bought the GGBP reprint of House of the Glimmering Light but haven't yet bought Crooked Sixpence.

Wonderful picks--already requested some of these from my public library. Also my library has a new book (2021) which I have put on Hold: "From Sarah to Sydney: the Woman Behind All-of-a-Kind Family," by June Cummins. This is a biography of Sydney Taylor, and sounds very interesting. I've also seen recommended "97 Orchard: An Edible History of Five Immigrant Families in One New York Tenement," by Jane Ziegelman, which explores the culinary life throughout history in the Lower East Side. I think 97 Orchard is the address of the Tenement Museum.

@@MirandaMills Well, I'm Number 6 in line at the library for the Taylor biography and number 27 in line for "The Reading List", which sounded so interesting from your video. Plus love that you wore your new skirt!

Miranda, oh. I think immediately of Miranda in the tempest... "O, brave New world, with so many wonderful things in it". Act 2, scene 2. Miranda, The Tempest. And, funnily enough you're video just popped up from nowhere as I sat at my writing desk. Greetings from a playwright and actor, Noel 🌹 ps, across the road from me, here in london, is the former London home of Thomas Hardy. Not a bad novelist.

Thank you, Miranda! Enjoyed your selections and just ordered "Period Piece" and "Business as Usual" from Blackwells. Couldn't find them here in NY, but Blackwells is a find (thank you for the link!). Now, I can look forward to a package from the UK. Have fun apple picking.....

Super recommendations Miranda. My Grandma introduced me to Miss Read when I was around 11 along with a book called Tapioca for Tea by Sarah Shears and Tuppence to Cross The Mersey by Helen Forrester, I went on to read many of her books. Have you heard of or read any of these ? X
