  • Duncan is back! The boys sit down for a very open and honest conversation about the Heat's run to the Eastern Conference Finals and Duncan’s playing time in the playoffs.
They discuss his historic shooting game against Atlanta, the national media attention on not playing in Philly, and what made the Boston series so interesting.
They also touch on summer plans and their takeaways from Games 1 & 2 in the NBA Finals.

Two things I’m gonna pretend Duncan’s gonna read lol. First, I’m a high school aau coach and I use you (and kieff) as an example to my kids about playing time constantly. How much of a pro you were throughout this run while not playing and being one of the best shooters on the earth and how great a teammate you were throughout. Second, I’ve defended you non stop this whole year (mostly because a lot of heat fans are emotional and think a month long shooting slump means you suck) but man I can’t wait till you’re ripping off 3 after 3 next year and just demolishing defenses the way you do. Not having you out there turned the heat offense into one of the worst I’ve seen in recent playoffs (Tyler being injured and underperforming influenced that as well) but I know you’re gonna prove the whole world wrong next year and the long shotters? Will be here to support you no matter what

    Key take aways :
    1. It was a shock to Duncan that he wasn’t in the rotation during the playoffs and wants to make sure it doesn’t happen again. He’s not blaming anyone because he knows he’s responsible for whatever happened.
2.Duncan didn’t want to be disruptive and disrespectful towards his teammates but at the same time he didn’t want people in the organization to see that’s he’s satisfied about what’s happening, but in the end Duncan the nice dude prevailed.

I give props to Duncan for handling the situation the way he did and really admire his mentality when it comes to supporting his teammates and not letting his ego get in the way. However, I feel like Duncan did get opportunities to prove himself and needed to hit the shots he usually makes. I know he didn’t get a ton of minutes but the shots were there and he needed to hit them so that he can get his minutes back. We all know his defence was always the problem but the shots were just not going in and they needed to. Big fan of Duncan but by the standards he put up for himself the previous two seasons that earned him that big contract, he was very inconsistent. Take into account that defensively he is a tier below Max Strus you understand why his playing time was limited. If your shot is not falling consistently & defensively you constantly get into foul trouble quickly you had to go with Strus. He may not be as great of a shooter but he was more consistent.

thing is it's hard to go for 3/6, 4/8 or something like that when you're practically running sprints every single possession and has someone on his hip 24/7, Duncan is still a consistent shooter just hard to go 50/50 when your only shots are when your teammates can't find a drive and has to pass it out or he has to run through 2-3 screens just to get open for half a second it's not that easy...Strus is a better one on one defender but he's definitely not a tier above Robinson a lot of times he's actually making the same mistakes as Duncan it's just that Duncan gets called for almost every contact he makes

@@noelbate505 I agree it is not easy to shoot with that kind of efficiency but Duncan made those same difficult shots two seasons in a row. He was given that contract because he can make those insanely difficult shots from beyond the perimeter. Defensively Duncan has the body and makeup to be very good but has not gotten there yet. In my book while Strus and Duncan are close defensively I give the edge to Strus. Mind you this discussion is a mute point if Duncan can get back to his shot from two seasons ago.

Nah its Jimmy’s fault. He emphasises in game 1 post game that he like Straus than Duncan and coach Spo adjusted to satisfy Jimmy’s ego. Both Bam and Duncan game suffers becoz of it.

First off the team had a meeting. They don't sugarcoat one's player decision. Second Pat didn't blame Bam cause he was doing his job defending unlike Herro, Duncan, and Struss. Lastly, how does it effect Duncan if Jimmy likes Struss more than him?

why did you get so trigger shy? why don't you even fake to get more open looks? where is the duncan of old who shot the lights out without conscience? you were one the fortunate few to get the green light dude and quite frankly i think you overthought it and hence blew it. have been a huge fan of yours, but to say this year has been very disappointing and frustrating from a fan perspective is an huge understatement. truth, you are a liability when you can't make 3s. but the heat have even accepted your defensive flaws AS LONG AS you make those shots or even just take those shots. i honestly cannot blame the heat from changing up the line. i think they may have even waited too long. still a fan of yours and i sincerely hope you can get your mojo back.
