Keep an eye out for a warped/cracked valve cover. I was having constant misfires on cylinder 5 & 6 in colder weather and warmer weather i smelled oil and saw intermediate exhaust smoke on idle. I changed my valve cover gasket but had no idea what could be causing the oil leaking. Turns out my mechanic spotted the valve cover leaking behind 5 & 6 and even showed me the oil dripping onto the downpipe. It's also slowly leaking down into my spark plug wells and when it burns it causes smoke and hiccups when idling. Finally figured it out but that plastic valve cover with anything over stage 1 is a curse.
Had same issue here, had to go aluminum valve cover.
Jared Grey could have just upgraded the PCV valve, stock valve cover is fine until the plastic PCV valve stops working
If anyone also has this issue, check RB's upgrade PCV. It helped with mine.
@@jared_grey where’d you get yours from?
Gotta feeling this what I’m running into n 🤦🏽♂️
Hey man .. i just watched ur video .. so I'm having misfire with cyl4 now on my 335is .. and I'm running cobb tuning.. is precision race werks packs plug n play with cobb ? Also what is a better plugs than oem to go with ?
If you go to Precision Raceworks website they have an install video that explains a little. Everything else was quite vague. The man on their video said this coil pack is best suited for over 550-600HP setups, and "will only cause more wear and tear" if under that power level. But I'm with you, trying to find a solution...
Do they sell individual coils though? In case you ever burn one
I’ve got an f30 n55 335i xdrive and I’m pretty much stock besides a Rez delete a electronic cut out before my muffler I can open and close. I was debating an intake next but reading through forums people are just saying don’t waste your time with them because you don’t actually gain any hp or anything but then you have manufacturers saying gain 10whp etc. what’s your thoughts? Looking to go fast I want to end up running e85 fbo and maybe even a upgraded turbo. Was looking at the carbon fiber turner CAI
Ryan A with a tune and proper bolt on mods an intake can definitely help in my opinion , but just adding an intake to a stock car isnt going to add anything aside from more turbo sound
Just drive faster.
Great video. The red handled cutters are called "right side tin snips". They suck for cutting wire ties.
Mark Duesing thats what they’re called! thanks so much man haha
Can i ask where can i buy that coils?
It's still called a coil (not distributor) it's just separated from what is normally a coil on plug.
Will this upgrade work on a n52?
Excellent video Omar seen this done on Budget Beemers channel on his 335i single turbo conversion it is pushing over 700 BHP what’s happening with your build ?
Paul Pateman you’ll see soon! more bolt ons coming for the car!
You skipped from wireloom to starting after install :(
Was hoping to see how the rail and coils gets installed. Thinking about going this route because coils are needed soon on my n54
The blue "distributer" is actually the coil pack itself. The part that goes over the spark plug is actually just wire and spark plug boot. This kit actually takes advantage of the same architecture as most LS coil kits.
Way more reliable than stock though.
How has his car held up? I need packs on my car. I've only done intake and charge pipe.. just wondering if these are worth it.. or should I just get OEM.. (planning on full bolt on)
Hey go with the precision raceworks coil pack I have used them since I was full bolt ons and now I'm running high 10s in my 135i with no problems they are awesome coils.
@@norcalrey2197 look great to
Did the white smoke go away? If not I would have the tune check.
Buckie Fairweather yes, it went away
I can’t find my spark plugs on my 320d. Can’t you please help me
Blues Clues M3 diy coming soon ;)
Your car is diesel, and diesel engines don't have spark plugs
Bahaa Bou Fakhereddin that was the joke lol
@@NardoGreyRam damn look at you
Why do you only show 2/3 of the install?
So how do you change the coils if they are custom made? Do you buy them from the same people?
most likely you probably wont need to change them but Precision does sell the individual coils on their site
www.precisionraceworks.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=25&limit=100
Simply Car Things they need to be changed after 100k miles, I’ve heard, so you’re good
Great camera!!!!!!!!!
Can these precision coils be installed on BMW 328i coupe X drive 2009 model ?
i don't believe so
But y tho
Probably but unless you have a supercharger or turbo add on it wouldn't be necessary.
Waste of money honestly if it was possible. Good plugs and coils are more than enough
Yeah bro I wanted these packs for like a year now.
There a bit pricey last I checked.
N54 Lord yea I spent around $500
N54 Lord they definitely are pricey but worth it id say!
@@SimplyCarThings Yes very much so!👍
@@jerm5324 what's your best 1/4 mile time with your setup
Nathan Swisshelm i haven’t timed any runs yet.. I’ll get back to you on that one with a time
Mine misfires with these lol. New injectors, new plugs and new PR coilpacks. Trying to track down the issue now
have you found it?
Mosfets in ecu.....
Is he on a stage 1 or 2 lpfp while running e60?
Antonio Raimondi I’m on stage 2 bucketless lpfp

Precision Raceworkz advises to not tune for the ignition kit unless you’re making at least 550whp because it’ll do more harm than good. They state it is actually a plug-n-play. Did you find this to be true?
He converted to a single turbo setup shortly after this video was filmed so we tuned anyway and never ran into any issues with the coils.
Simply Car Things thanks for the quick reply! I’m going stage 2 soon (by MHD’s chart) and won’t make 550whp so I was wondering if ignition kit tuning was actually an issue for underpowered vehicles.
I’m not near 550whp, but clicking the option for the coils in MHD smoothed things out quite a bit.
6 Piston Brakes? Where did he get that, do you maybe have a mod List for me :)
Hurricane 6 piston brakes come standard on the 135i !
6 and 4
@Simply Car Things, I didnt know that thank you
Idk if you guys did.. I would have changed the spark plugs as well
lpa187 yep, he changed them prior to this coil pack install
Don't tune for precision Race works with unless you're pushing over 700hp. It increases dwell, and burns out sparkplugs more
I probably should've just ordered these instead of eldors!
What injectors do you use ?
Caleb Jones rn stock injector 11s
@@jerm5324 oh ok . Are there aftermarket ones for them ? Like 1050 ? Or 1300s etc
Caleb Jones no bmw just made better ones “index 12s” also I have added port injection with 750cc injectors for more fueling.
Lifespan of these coils?
im not entirely sure of their lifespan but they should last for quite a long time
They also work on n55 too
Sam
Do they really??
JMC Cars N More yes hey do, you have to buy the n55 coils cuz they’re different, I also had a 335 with n55 I was looking into buying them

Thanks!!
Sam
Thanks!!
How often should you change your coil packs?
On a aggressive tune I would recommend every 30-40k kms. If they don't blow before that is. If one or two does, swap a coil into a different bank and if the misfire goes to another cylinder than you know it's that coilpack. Regardless, changing all 6 at once is the best thing you can do. If you have the stock coils using bosch, delphi or eldor coils work just fine. I recommend Eldor coilpacks. That's the ones I use.
What's his final verdict of these? I personally went with bimmerlife and a new set of ngk's @0.15 back in Feb. I think I've put at least 5k miles on the car since then. My car has never ran so smooth and still is.
The LakesideView well so far I’ve put 2k of hard racing on these since the first day I put them in.. no problems so far.
Open up your gap. .15 is very tight. You only tighten the gap if your ignition system isnt strong enough. Sort of defeating the purpose of having a good ignition system. Try a larger gap and see if theres and power gain as the cylinder burn will be more efficient with a larger gap.
So your saying you think the car ran better after going with external coil type, like this in video versus a good set of stock style coils?
The setup like shown in vid has to be a stronger and more consistent spark. The coil itself is more than twice the size of the stock, pencil style coil packs. Also will this take some load off the DME Ign Drivers? bc does the switching load would take place in the individual square coil packs per cylinder themselves or is the still the same deal bc of the stock circuit setup. (MSD80 - DME IGN Coil "Drivers" Failure)
Im looking into what I'll need/want when i finish my upgrades and need supporting mods for heavy duty daily driver and weekend fun car abuse! Lol
damn, jerm’s 135 before he went ST and blew like 3 motors 😭😭
Whats his exhaust setup and why was it smoking?
RTS G2 I’m running 3inch straightpipe.. still have secondary cats.. and it hasn’t been started in over a week, also it was suuuper cold cuz it just had finished raining
Jerm do you know if the 3 inch straight works for 335i because I mostly see 2.5 straight pipe for 335
@@truckerboymari3589 it definitely works for 335's, i believe VRSF makes a full 3 inch catback race exhaust
Simply Car Things nah i will just get a 3inch pipe but thanks tho they too expensive for me
@@truckerboymari3589 i have a 4 inch in my 335i
Nice coils setup from PR
But s58/b58 coils better then PR coils
So is this better then getting index 12"s ?
lol, completely unrelated issues
BimmerLifeTuning coils🙌
great option as well!
I'm pushing 450hp on my stock Bosch coilpacks with OEM spark plugs and havent got 1 misfire. 0 issues dont feel like those precisions are worth the cash.
my friend kept running into misfire issues so it was definitely a nice upgrade and he also plans on running upgraded turbos/full e85 in the future so this will hold under high power conditions
The coil power cable is not reliable, each time replacement the spark plugs, you will high chance to need to reply the blue coil power cable as well
I really like your videos and the subject matter. But PLEASE try and watch your volumes as the music comes in blasting loud after the volume is set to hear you talk clearly that music is way too loud. It's very disturbing. Thank you.
Calls tin snips 'garden things'. Ummmmm, please don't touch my car.
The air filters in the middle of the engine bay are gonna cause heat soak and maybe even reduce power. it could end up only making a nice whoosh sound 🤧
That seat delete is pointless
