    I’m very sorry to hear this. But as terrible as this sounds I’m glad you posted this because it makes me feel better after I just crashed my tank while moving and it’s nice to hear we’re not alone when mistakes happen. Most channels never show all the bad parts and it makes us feel like we’re the only ones to screw up.
    Either way though I’m very sorry to hear that this happened and I hope you find a way to stay positive and engaged with the tank.

    • @brenninsreef
      @brenninsreef Před rokem +2

      @@BilBon13 My biggest advice is plan for everything to go poorly day of. Make sure your plan is bulletproof. And take your time. I have a whole video as to why it went poorly for me but long story short I planned on moving slowly but my truck died day before and I ended up rushing moving everything (house and tank) all in one day.
      My best advice move your house. Then move your tank when it’s the only thing you have to think about.

I too have lost fish and corals and you do feel helpless and sorry for the fish and corals that you lose, so I really sympathise with you. As you say, stick with it, we are all in this together as we love our reefing. Big hug.

    I feel your pain and am very sorry. It’s been almost 2 years now that I lost my tank to a power outage during winter for 7 days. I lost coral and very old fish, 2 being 13 year old clowns. I have yet to set that tank back up. Im on the same page as you for fish being true pets and not just replaceable. This hobby will hit you hard sometimes for sure. I’m just now getting ready to set that tank back up. Just looking at it empty all this time just kept brining back sad memories. It’s time now though for it to relive its former glories, not to mention I’ve purchased and installed a whole house generator as to never have to relive that painful scenario again. Heads up brother, keep on pushing through and a smile will return to your face

Moved the livestock a day before into holding bin and had a heater on my apex that apparently got stuck on but I didn’t have it on my apex that night. Was exhausted from moving everything and thought oh it’ll be okay for the night. Woke up to everything cooked and i was devastated. They were my pets and I said I was done. Gonna sell everything and even sold my tank. Thankfully I have amazing family and girlfriend who convinced me to get a new tank. Hopefully your video helps someone that doesn’t have as great of support as I do. Thanks for the video I know you’ll make a great tank.

    Even heroes sometimes have to show their still human. And when people of the highest level of something have to show their humanity, it is a humbling lesson for us all. Hopefully someone will see this video and pay more attention to their own tank and consider learning more about fish disease, if that happens then your loss will not be in vain. Life is not always peachy man, no matter what you do in your career or your life, you will experience some dark days, just keep in mind that their is a light at the end of this and new inspirations will come! You will get through this and be better for it. The hobby, the job, whatever you want to call it, it is just you investing your life into something. Keep investing your time and energy and love into this and beautiful things will continue to happen.

    I feel your pain. Years ago I used to have Saltwater aquariums. At one point I had a 75 gallon reef tank and another 75 gallon fish only. I ended up converting the reef tank into freshwater but kept the fish only. I had a good balance of healthy fish. I had a big eyed squirrel fish, volitan lion fish, naso tang, yellow tang and a blue throat triggerfish. I had a chance to get an angelfish (I think it was a queen angelfish), so I added it. Maybe two days later my triggerfish acted strange and died that same day, lost everything else in the next few days! I had no explanation. I was shattered and I totally lost interest in the hobby. After that I sold all my tanks and haven't tried since. I wish you best of luck getting back on the horse.

    I think this is a hard lesson anyone keeping marine fish long term comes to learn. You hear about fish disease, you watch all the videos warning you, but as is often the way in life you think "ahh that won't happen to me". Because you've been lucky, you've got maybe 10 fish over the course of years and never had an issue. But it is just a matter of time.
    I had the same thing happen to me about 2 years in, disease wiped my whole tank and I also took it pretty hard. Now I QT every fish, it's not easy, but I care too much about the fish I have to roll the dice. And I'm not saying this to be mean Ryan, I'm sure you're already thinking the exact same thing. I'm saying it as a PSA to all those hobbyists who think they'll always be lucky... you won't... and when it happens to you it really really hurts. ❤

    The learning curve on fish disease is steep and often brutal. I've been on it and it's horrible. I don't mind admitting I cried my eyes out as I slowly watched all my fish die over the course of a weekend and felt powerless to stop it.
    As you say, it's something that has happened and will happen to every fish keeper.
    Once you've had a break and re-grouped, I'm sure you'll come back stronger with an even better setup. 😉

    Sorry dude, it’s crap and it really does hurt. Had to remove all my fish this weekend and treat. Lost a Blackcap and a Tomini. It’s hard and unfair brother completely agree that they are pets.

    Brook is a tough one. Easy to misdiagnose, difficult to treat, rapid to spread, and almost always fatal.

    That sucks brotha, here's what i have had success with... old ass rocks, like years old, many years old, i like to buy my old tank teardowns for the rocks, whatever leaching from them I've resolved with metasprob. The bacteria and organisms present are impossible to recreate from bottle solutions and you'll want your system packed with live rock to seed new sand. Later remove live rock to have more space and whatnot. Best have a 55watt or better uv running. I run two one a diy at high flow and the other set for parasites.
