Might as well help the algorithm. Zidane and Unei are both nuts. Absolutely meta warping. Going to be sad to lose my mono wind, but I don't think you can play it against either of them. Also think the new y'shtola gives lightning/fire ff13 a good enough boost to make it the best aggro deck in the format.
She's adorable. Very strong card. I don't know why they made WOLs so slow and uninteractive for so long. I actually have some faith in the deck now, now that Faris and Refia exist.
Definitely a fascinating card, and one that causes a great degree of salt in games, but he kind of needed to be that powerful to make people play Fire/Wind in the first place. Weird how unsynergistic the elements seem to be!
Strongly recommend picking up a deck or two, even if it's just for commuting to large events. The game is SO fun at the moment, and the community is second to none. Regardless, glad you enjoyed the unboxing! I'll keep them up just for you. :)
Steve - "Its a bad time to be a lightning player" Lightning players - "You get used to it" Though I have mulled over the idea of using the starter Ardyn with Chimera as a fun way of triggering his effect maybe get that payoff with Nael as a 1cp draw two, yeah its a tall ask and probably not something that will come up often but when it does it'll feel like you achieved something.
Remember that Ardyn triggers whenever *anything* dies, you don't need to be playing self-sacrifice stuff! Easy to forget. Chimera is cute, kinda thought about it with Ranperre, but Ranperre's payoff seems kind of slow these days unless you do something sick with Teodor.
Oh absolutely this was more of a cute way to pay 1cp to reduce the cost of something else that you would want to keep around its more in our control on how we want to do this. Could go Chimera > Kill Chimera > Cast Nael for 1CP and now it feels like we just paid 2 CP for a draw 2 effect as well getting a somewhat viable card in a heavy-ish fire/lighting XIV list. Probably not worth the randomness you get but its one of those cheeky things you could do.
I've been having a lot of fun testing earth/ice/lightning control w/ the new backup engine for those colors. I don't know if it's better than any of the control lists of just two of those colors, but its so fun to jam white tiger, prishe, sephiroth, lightning, man in black, and exdeath all in the same list ahaha. Unei is so much fun. I've been testing her in twins rydia and the stuff she does there is just so gross. I would absolutely love to see any deck tech talks of yours that have unei in them, just such a fun card to play with.
One of my first thoughts for Rydia was exactly the same! For a long time, I thought that Man In Black, Exdeath, and I/L Sephiroth looked great to play in Ice/Earth Discard. Same solution to a different question! Unei is my favourite L this set so far, and I have tons of decks with her on the way.
Dragoons are on my radar, but it's incredibly simple, and probably not a very exciting video. :P Now that there's two more Dragoon Backups, there's basically no reason not to play 47 Dragoons and 3 Alus. FF14 is proving harder to crack for me, but I am still investigating the archetype. New Y'Shtola is an insane card, and she can do fun things with Hien, but there really isn't tons apart from Y'Shtola that I want from the Lightning element as a whole.
What's really weird to me in this game after coming from Yu-Gi-Oh, is that I have trouble identifying what's actually in the meadow or what's being played. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing since it just means that stuff is pretty diverse. It does make it confusing as a new player what to pick up though (other than my passion for FF14 and FF10)
Fortunately, the meta is really wide for FFTCG, and there's tons of playable Tier 1-3 decks. I'll cover a ton of deck breakdowns this set, hopefully something catches your eye! FF10 and FF14 will be early on the list.

My favorite legend this set is definitely the Refia. Love the artwork and just fabulous support for one of my favorite archetypes thematically.

I'd love to see a dragoon or FF14 deck. Love those. Uhh hope that red mage gets enough support to make a deck too
