That overtake on David Coulthard is one of Kimi's best. Also look at those conditions. Nowadays they wouldn't even start a race in such rain. Yes, I know back then the cars had traction control, but that was no longer the case in Great Britain 2008, Italy 2008 or China 2009. And even back then the drivers complained about no visibility, yet they were still racing. I really miss those times.
He made so many good passes this race. The one at 1:45 is beyond belief in my view. So risky. He came up with a line in Turn 5 that nobody else thought of. That allowed him to pass 3 or 4 cars in that turn alone. Look at this guy's commitment at 2:11. He is just edging the car towards the corner fearlessly. Amazing stuff.
I am willing to bet that Räikkönen would have demolished the field if he had the right tyres on from the very beginning. Here, he finished just 9 seconds behind Hamilton despite the visibility, the amount of pit-stops (especially the initial one that pushed him to the back) and cars in front of him. This is almost Suzuka 2005 levels of GOAT. Massa did quite good as well, seing how he also had to initially change tyres and was third at one point during the race but Räikkönen killed it.
Think this is easily one of the most underrated wet weather performances. In my 21 years of watching since 2003,it’s definitely up there. Absolutely was on a tear as soon as the tyre temperature was at its peak operating window. The racecraft he showed was honestly amazing
One of Kimi's greatest drives. He is not well known for his wet weather racing but when he does put in a performance, it turns out to be critical for the championship. Thank you for the hard work you put into compiling and editing this video.
He actually was known for his superiority in the wet in his first career and junior years. Ironically it was the fact that Kimi was winning races on slicks in the wet, that convinced Jost Capito to bring him to Peter Sauber. Indy 2003, Brazil 2003, Spa 2005, Silverstone 2002, China 2006, Fuji 2007, China 2007 were all masterclasses.
Kimi 2003-2007 is the best driver I've seen since the 21st century began. We could list 10 other drives imo that rival this one in that period He was that good. This was the best drive of 2007 imo. He would have demolished the grid had he not had to pit for tyres at the start.
The more the odds are stacked against him, he'd do what he intended and just race for the sake of sport, and transcend into the raw talent he was. Think Jordan vs LeBron; one wants to be the best, the other just wanted wanted to compete and win games. Funny since Jordan also had a sabbatical chasing his baseball dream, and Kimi had rallying.
What a bizzare race - Ferrari clownshow at the beginning, state of total resignation after the 1st SC restart, when Kimi was mired in the midfield effectivelly pitstop behind podium on course for some smaller points, which would end the hope on the spot. Then gigantic stroke of luck - stopped 1 lap before Alonso´s crash triggered SC (bare in mind that ridiculous SC pit lane closed rule), Vettel took out Webber and Kimi made it through into a podium position. Still I felt heavily dissapointed after the race, because realistically it was over with Hamilton´s commanding lead. Luckily, McLaren collosally bottled with Hamilton.
they kinda were this race cuz Kimi and Massa were the only cars on wrong tyres, even though FIA told all the teams to start on extreme wets whist Ferrari started on inters
@@0_bigchungus_055 yeah , Jean Todt Ferrari was an another Ferrari , now the team Is not even capable of selecting the right tyre(still waiting Hamilton tyres to decay 😂)
@@francescosalvato6612might be a bold claim but if Ferrari had a good car and drivers like maybe Vettel or Kimi they could still fight for wins even with ferrari this crap since they have experience and know what to do
Nice for sure, but Ferrari team strategy ruined his race, therefore he ended up behind the Mclarens. Well, first year without Schumacher, we got used to Schumacher make strategic decisions in conditions like this, where he ends up at an advantage over the rest
First year without Brawn. Ferrari made an operational error claiming they never heard the technical directive at the start. Schumacher being there would have made no difference. I mean, please, he already lost an easy title in 2006.

the moment i saw Kimi mentioned in the title i click, no questions asked and no hesitation
Raikkonen on wet could Match MSC and Senna , this statement Is not mine but many engineers who worked with him say that.
4:40 - no words really. Like driving in a typhoon.
another masterpiece from the ciaron smith🫡

Wow. Never seen this before. I think this is his greatest ever drive. No visibility at all!!

If only Ferrari did not screw him over in 2008 and he remained the no 1 driver throughout his stint...@@ciaronsmith4995

A great footage for once more Ciaron. And great description as well at the beginning. Congrats mate
6:20 top moment wow
Tragic that these conditions would mean no running these days. Absolutely terrific stuff.

You should show Spa 2008 masterclass aswell
Did you mean 2004? Or 2009? Yeah sure but those weren't wet weather races.
Maybe ciaron should show spa 2010. An alonso driving masterclass 💀
I'd rather watch Monaco 2008, Raikkonen racecraft at his best so much commitment
