    Great demo. I remember the first time I got my hands on my Stingray. I have a US made 4HH and nothing else sound quite like it. I play a Fender MIJ before that, so the price point is about the same as the Stingray 34HH (At least here in Germany it's about the same price) I like them both, but the Stingray just gives that extra punch and grawl when I needed it to play certain types of music. I ordered a Stingray 5 H yesterday and I can't wait to play it as soon as it arrives.

  • @seandusk9491

    as an owner of one of these i think it sounds best in the middle position (all coils) with some drive, treble knob all the way up, amp eq mid boosted (especially high mids) and last but not least fresh strings. sounds quite similar to a wal bass if youre looking for that justin chancellor tone

      So for reference my other basses are an Ibanez SR405 and a Fender PJ Deluxe. The Stingray is so damn light, I thought my Fender was light but damn. It's hand down the best feeling bass I've ever played, and the pickup configuration makes it so versatile. It just plays and sounds better than my other basses, period.

    If you keep up this sponsorship up with mm in the future I could see a Patrick hunter Sig model. 3 band eq, 1 single coil (to get some of your jazz bass sound ) 1 humbucker, p bass thickness of the neck and obviously in your signature green with a black pickguard
    And I would buy it and play the hell out of it

  • @simonharbuckle3931

    Patrick, you never fail to give an honest review.
    Sponsored or not, your review was 100% accurate.
    I went with the EB MM HH Special, but the Sterlings are an incredible bass by any standards.
    My new EB is now my "take it to the grave" bass. Tone & playable AF.
    Almost forgot I have a girlfriend. I should call her, when I break a string.

    • @57precision
      @57precision Před 4 lety +2

      What made you decide on the HH model? I personally don't need my Stingray to sound like a P bass or a Jazz bass because I already got those, and I'm wondering if it that big neck position humbucker gets in the way for slap.

    • @carpediemarts705
      @carpediemarts705 Před 4 lety

      @@57precision was wondering the same about slap.
      Like on my jazz, I have the neck pickup dropped in a bit to keep from hitting it which muffled the tone a smidge. I'm totally into neck pickup tone and would only wsnt a stingray with the 2 pickups regardless if what "the stingray sound" is supposed to be.

    • @simonharbuckle3931
      @simonharbuckle3931 Před 4 lety

      @@57precision After playing both the H & HH models, I found the HH to be far more versitile in the tone department. Without naming each of them, I have the classic basses (P, J to Ric & Alembic). The HH can match each tone and more. I don't slap much (Les Claypoolonly), but haven't had any problems with the neck p-up getting in the way when I do. Plenty of space between the neck & bridge pickups for that.
      That being said, my HH Special is the best of all worlds. I'm getting another this fall as a stage backup.
