I couldn't resist making an animatic with these 2 and since Omensky (curly furred cat is bisexual and Velvetquince (flower wearing cat) is lesbian the timing felt perfect to show their tragic love story! I had so much fun with this; it felt rewarding and exciting to fit so much story into a project that only took a few days

Story summary : Omensky is Weepingwind's mother, aka Crowsong's grandmother. Velvetquince was a skilled healer. They fell in love and formed a bond during their apprenticeships. Although not long after both of them were given their respective roles a terrible illness spread across the clan.
The determined Velvetquince worked relentlessly to care for the sick cats, despite it being contagious and deadly. She successfully cured the majority of her clanmates but couldn't spare time to care for her own well being. As she too fell ill she kept working she lied about her true state; putting on her cheerful demeanor as always.
Omensky had been gone on a long-duration mission and was beyond despaired when she returned to find her love laying alone and on the brink of death in the healers' den. Velvet had refused help in fear of infecting anyone else she had ended up slowly withering away on her own. But she was brought to a smile as Omen returned to her one last time, holding her gently in her paws.
Omensky later on in life formed a bond with a tomcat and they eventually had Weepingwind, she loved him but always felt her heart belonged to Velvet. The pair eventually split up; not out of hate nor issues. It just didn't work out and they both felt they became mates more for the sake of the clan. But Omensky loved Weepingwind more than anything and had always wished to be a mother, and a good single mother she was for the rest of her life.

Omensky wears one feather for each important cat in her life that she’s lost/who’s passed. Velvetquince was the first, and the feather seen in their last moments alive together represents her. Omen never stopped wearing it in her tail
Also healers can have relationships in my lore, their love was acknowledged by the rest and there also aren’t any queerphobia present during any timespan of this entire story :}

Knowing that Omensky would have defended Crowsong only makes this more heartbreaking. From the brief glimpses this gave I definitely get the impression that Crowsong and Omensky were similar as young warriors. Disregarding the hardships Crowsong was put through. Not only will Omensky never get to see her granddaughter take so much after her, but she wasn't even aware of the abuse Crowkit was suffering while she was still alive. Had Omensky been well/aware enough to defend Crowkit, Weepingwind may not have passed either, since she would at least have someone defending her and her kit. I'm sure even one ally would have lessened her depression. I'm sure Omensky would have been extremely proud of how loving a mother Weepingwind was despite the harsh treatment from clanmates.
Sorry the burst your bubble, but Weepingwind was not a good mother to Crowkit. She did try to love her in the beginning, but the pressure and accusations she suffered from her clan and even her mate Raveneye was too much and she all but abandoned her daughter. She was there physically but was completely emotionally unavailable and neglectful of Crowkit and allowed her clan mates to constantly bully her only kit. Maybe in another lifetime she could’ve been a better mother, but she simply wasn’t in this life. A tragedy all around.

I would pay money to see Omensky tell off everyone who abused Crowsong. Especially Raveneye.

Depression is a real illness and can’t be helped. Weepingwind was mentally unwell and needed help. It wasn’t her fault.
I love how Omen sky's facial features remain even when she gets old! (and how she look similar to Crowsong since she's her grandmother) Also this whole animatic is heart touching and beautiful✨

Omensky has such a unique design but still such a strong resemblance to Crowsong. I'm so impressed with all your characters!

I just read Velvet's story a few days ago, it's such a touching one and hit me personally. As someone who ignored her own well-being to help others and tried to always seem happy so they would feel better, I connected with Velvetquince.

0:50 THIS. I don't know what is it about this frame but I love it! The way her fur is up in the air makes it seem like she was running to VelvetQuince, and I imagine that was the first thing she did when she got back home. Or I could be reading into this masterpiece way too much and there was just a dramatic breeze but STILL! The story telling in this is amazing!
I honestly have no words, I literally had to take a break after watching this lmao. Your works and characters are stunning as always but the story is incredibly breathtaking. I started the video and decided to pause it shortly after to check if you explained the story in the description so I could have an idea of what this would be about before watching it and just by reading the story I was already tearing up. I was legitimately hesitant and afraid to even finish the video at that point but I had to see how the story unfolded for myself and holy shit, as always it did not disappoint and it exceeded the expectations (which are already more than high when it comes to your works). I'm being serious when I say that I genuinely cried out of the raw emotion and actual pain this animatic transmits and makes you feel. I already said this in one of your previous works, if not I'll say it again, but this is where you see that what you do is full of passion and dedication and that this is real talent at its finest. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing works, I'm genuinely glad♡

I’m pretty sure people have pointed this out but it seems even before Crowsong’s birth, cats from Corvidclan even from Omensky’s warrior days are dying left and right. I saw a comment on your Warbringers PMV (another amazing and beautiful videos btw, love your work keep it up❤️) theorising that Crow’s brith could be a test from past Corvidclan members to bring more diversity into the clan. So if that is true, then maybe the sick cats in this video are the first test given by the ancestors to make the clan realise “hey maybe we shouldn’t push away or kill cats who aren’t dark/black pelted” but they kept failing these supposed test and cats kept on dying. Then Crowsong was born and we all know how that ended.
Whatever it may be or why cats from Corvidclan keep dying, I’m really interested to learn more of their story like what happens to Crowsong during her time in the Dark Forest and other cats like Falconflight.

It’s sad to see that Velvet’Quince risked her life to save likely a lot of clan members, just to be seen as deserted in her dying moments before Omen’Sky arrives. Or at least from what I can tell- love this happy yet sad little lore, lovely little details down to the feather when Velvet’Quince dies, to Velvet’Quinces flower wilting!
THIS IS SO SAD. The expressions just hit my bones and the way Velvet's pupils are always strechted out, I love them both so MUCH 💖💞 You did such an amazing job as always!

You have to be a very special artist to make a majority of your fans tear up. And a lot of people teared up seeing Velvetquince's face in the afterlife. This animatic is very beautiful and shows a lot of emotion. There's something always so special with your art, it's lovely.

Looks like Omensky isn't the only cool old lady who will chew Corvidclan out in Starclan/this universe's version of the afterlife.
These two have such a lovely, tragic love story, and your use of music and emotions in your work really sells the love, tenderness, heartbreak and impact these two have had on each other, and Velvetquince being the first face Omensky sees and hears after she passes away is so sweet. I hope these two have a peaceful time together in the afterlife, and I have a headcanon that Velvetquince also watched over Omensky's daughter and granddaughter.

I rewatched this 5 times I'm a row just to drink in the soft emotion. I appreciate how their pain and love is captured, and how Omen dies with a smile on her face. Whether that was because she was glad she was to see her first love again, or satisfied with her life overall, I found it so so beautiful. Nobody deserves to see the end with a frown on their face. An absolute work of art. You are a beautiful artist and writer, thank you for this.

Omensky's pain upon losing Velvetquince was so palpable, and the way Velvetquince tried to gently comfort her mate almost brought me to tears. To be honest i always found your story interesting and wondered about the omensky's past but didnt assume anything and now im obsessed! the expressions are perfect, the vibe is really good. anyways omensky looks so soft when she was young and you nerver fail to amaze me, and i'll prob make some fanart of the two. theyre so cute!

Listening back on this now just hurts. In a good and bad way. On June 11th, I accidentally stepped on and killed my 5 weeks and 6 days old foster kitten, Cheeto. A little orange kitten. Funny thing is, this came out a few days after he passed..🥺
I put him to bed on the other side of the room, tucked him in and closed the 4 foot gate. I did everything right. He never even climbed the stairs before and was actually afraid of them. Somehow he got all the way to the top of the 13 flight of stairs. I glanced for cats and didn’t see any. I looked and still stepped on him. He was in pain for probably 3 minutes. I brought him upstairs to get help from anyone. He was starting to foam at the mouth. My grandmother took him and he started seizing, that made her upset when he started peeing on her. My mom rushed him out to the porch and held him down. I wanted to take him to the vet but they debated the cost and how long it’ll take to get there. I go back inside and look out from the window. I just did, not sure why. Probably just shocked. I saw him head fall down and go limp, my mom let out a sigh and put her head down. I just knew… I went out and tried rubbing his back and belly. The 101 Dalmatian movie did that to save a pup, maybe it’ll save him. His eyes were wide open, he wasn’t blinking or breathing but I still tried. My mom told me to stop and started waving him around, while telling me to stop that he’s dead. I panic and see blood now coming from his nose. Telling her to stop that she’s hurting my baby. She responds with ‘A baby? Really? You killed him, he’s dead.’ That just broke me, I was so sure it was just a freak accident. Nope. The words just broke that thought. I did this, it was my foot. I should’ve looked harder. Something. My mom then sends me off to get a box to bury him. I come back with a box and she’s not pleased with my choice. She gets another box and drops him in there with his poop. Since he was seizing in the porch, she cleaned it up and threw it in there with him like he’s a piece of garbage. She then decides that we should probably cremate him, so he’s not dug up by wild animals. I then see our dog come over and I try to put her inside. My mom and step dad scream at me that I killed the cat and to just go to my room. I just went to my room and was back on the top of the stairs where the accident happened. Then my cat Nona runs up the stairs, looking for her baby. She’s a great foster mom and loves kittens. She didn’t know he just passed, she just saw him a few minutes ago struggling to breathe and tried helping him. Even my cat Padmé who hates kittens was trying to help, which concerned me. I sobbed when I saw her looking for Cheeto. I did this, I took away his life. He’ll never get to grow up, get adopted, and grow old. I was just going to teach him how to eat dry food the next day. Now I can’t..
It’s a struggle to walk, I can’t even run. My fear of heights has worsened. The times I do regain my vision on the stairs I see him on every step. Either smiling or having a look of terror. It makes me sick.
His name was and still is Cheeto. He loved Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Saga, he would sit on my lap and try catching the Lego pieces. He loved Minecraft and it gave him the craziest zoomies. Every-time,guaranteed. He just learned how to run and climb a few days before. He ran sideways like a weirdo and it was adorable. He identified as a human/dog. When he was happy, he’d wag his tail like a puppy. I would always laugh and call him a weirdo. ❤️
Please watch your step with your small babies. I thought it wouldn’t happen to me but it did and I had to learn the hard way. Even if you’re 100% sure they aren’t under your feet. Take that slim chance that they are and look down.
This animatic is beautiful on so many levels. First, every frame is beautifully drawn and composed-you can feel the atmosphere in each scene despite using the same color more or less. All the characters are very distinct, the line work is clear, and the anatomy is gorgeous. Second, I deeply appreciate the nature of the tragedy between Omensky and Velvetquince as well as how their characters were portrayed. Frequently people pit their lgbtq cats against their straight cats due to the perceived forbidden relationship, which is understandable but rather disheartening, especially when it’s so common. This is not the case here. It seems that the clan respected Omen and Velvet’s bond and instead of Velvet being killed by her clanmates, she nobly sacrificed herself for their well-being. This could’ve happened to any pair of cats. The story feels sincere and heartfelt and anyone can relate to what the characters go through.
