Yes that plane is 2 engines that got fitted with some guns, a cockpit, and some wings to hold it all together. The only thing that can kind of annoy you while you gain altitude superiority are some heavy fighters like the b18 that are classifield as bombers.
It’s funny you used the B-18 as an example I literally bought this plane yesterday , and I killed two B-18s head on . Because I was able to actually reach his height . I gotta say I love this plane ALOT.

What are you playing? If you don't point your nose at this thing like an idiot while being below it and stall out you can kill it. Yak-3, J2M2, Spitfires, 109s all can go up against it and kill it if flown by a better pilot than that of the XP-50. Thing compresses like crazy, has pretty bad low altitude performance, doesn't take damage well at all and is a giant target. It's good for exploiting dumb mistakes and because of that it's good for clubbing noobs, it can go 0.3 or 0.7 BR higher, but it's not as bad as a lot of other planes.
This seal clubber is the reason i have now gotten most of the US planes in the tree. Plane is very fun to play and extremely easy to use. Sadly i can't go for more 20mm ammo instead of the 50 cals.
My happiest moment in the last year of War Thunder was dragging an XP-50 down to low altitude on my tail and having him swarmed and devoured by a meme squad of CW-21's
I remember my one time trying to fight this thing in a 190 A-4 Had never really seen it before, and I had wiffed my dive and decided to do a turnfight with him instead, because I thought I had the speed advantage and he probably has a terrible turn time Boy was that a mistake…
XP-50 is my most played plane. It can be moved to 4.3 and be just fine. I'm playing J2M2 right now and it's very close to an XP-50, and I'm having no trouble at 4.3, even with the same terrible US teammates.
Pro tip for flying xp 50: if you dont want to get roasted, only use boom and zoom, hit and run, or interception tactics. Turn/energy fighting does not work unless you actually know what you are doing.
A few weeks ago when I was doing a Pokryshkin's P-39 squad and we had an enemy XP-50 as the last player on their team, Because of just how well he climbed and how well he performed at altitude he just kept us at 5000m right above his airfield so that if we tried to follow him after he dived at us, he would just move into the AAA envelope. We eventually dragged him away from the airfield and beat him silly at low alt but it was easily the most frustrating fight of the day
This plane is insane. It out climbs pretty much everything it goes against and also out turns everything it goes against except Japanese planes of course, I tested its dogfighting capabilities and it can outmaneuver almost every Russian prop, every German plane, and can even turn with a ki61.
It's a slightly worse (debatable) J2M2 at 0.7 br lower. Yak-3 is pretty much as broken but is at 4.0. The only reason XP-50 is still 3.7 is because not many people play it, which is bound to change since it's in the warbond shop this season.
I love to do schoolwork while playing this plane. Gives me something fun to do so I don’t get bored and means I don’t have to sit doing nothing while it climbs
Been using this to grind sl for awhile now with it and boom... 4+ kill games and 80,000 per game with no booster Most i made was 500,000 on a 2 kill game with 900% sl booster
This has to be in the top 5 best things to use in War Thunder when you're in a bad run of matches, it's just a joy and really should be 4.3 at a minimum. It's also very easy to use MEC with which is nice. And if you're super try hard you key bind to split the 20s and 50s to save ammo😂
A point I don't see many people mention when talking about teamwork is that by increasing your chance of winning, you're massively increasing your average rewards because of the win reward boost. There's no downside to playing for the team.
Funny how the planes that never entered service like the xp55, this thing and most of the other paper planes are so great at seal clubbing. The game was better without em' but GJ has to make money somehow.

There will always be at least two bf109s or spitfires climbing at 270kmh that will try to stall up for you. Two taps of the guns and they go back to the hangar wondering how they could have possibly lost. Rinse and repeat from 5k metres to the deck
This is the first and only aircraft I bought 3 years ago because of the climb rate and turn rate. It did take some time to get used to only having 120 rounds for the 20mm.
I'm kinda mad at people, they are saying that this planes is the bane of their existence while they bomb. Just because a plane can get to your height doesn't mean it's a op plane and needs a buff. It's just that USA has a plane to counter bombers, sorry Germany but when a play can out climb you (which happens to most USA planes) it doesn't mean it needs to be removed/nerfed to the ground
I bought this plane a year or two ago because I was tired of BV238s stomping teams while I grind the US, of which most of its planes lack the climb to deal with that threat. However, its pretty clear that its a seal clubber of massive proportions, a single-kill game is a bad game in it.
This thing absolutely DOMINATES 4.0. I just had a 4 kill match.. Wouldve had more, but i had to fly back to base and land. Friendly P-51s and a wildcat (weird, right?) mopped up the rest.
I was trying to teach my friend how to p47 since hes new to the game. And he kept complaining "yeah i climb to 6k but the fucking XP guys fuck me" yeah...they kinda do its not a real plane it has some fantasy performance forreal
I have only one bad thing to say about this thing and that’s it’s ammo count, but the fiddy cals are still useful I’ve brought this thing into EC5/6 and dunked on kikkas and R2Y2s once or twice, so worth the price already

I know this is off topic but I feel like sabres are out classed by many things now and cannot even compete. Plus my team dies by the time I get to battle, or they are side climbing in 10.3 in a full down tier.
This plane is reminds me of the whirlwind p.9, which is perfoming quite like this plane, you should try it, if you can aim its guns, it can be a lot of fun
the amaricans has also a SBD i think it names.. with pods and has also a blast of firepower and u get it on rank 1 i think BR-1.3 or some i use it to get revange on salty players or too good players from I get mad hahaha :D with pods u win EVERY Head on !!! makes so much fun too
The XP-50 and J22B are my go-to rank 3 clubbers for tasks. It's far too easy to shred enemies but I doubt the BR's will change, especially since the XP-50 is either pay to obtain or slug through 12 special tasks.
A plane that you should play is the ki-43-III otsu. It's really fun and easy turn fighter while having a lot of potential to carry. It isn't played a lot so players often try to turn fight with it only to realize it has a 16s turn time. Used it to grind out a lot of my japanese prop planes

My most played US plane, it's so good I even use it to grind jets. Using it to work on my F-100 at the moment.
But it's rank II/III so you will get like 20% research efficiency

If you ask me, I'd say this ting needs to be moved up to 4.0, as well as the XP-55 moved up to 4.3. The airspawn doesn't help balance it either.

12 special tasks is easy if you do ones that align with daily tasks that you're doing anyway. Plus you can buy skips.
