Keadby canal bridge opening and closing. (Some of the work I do)

Called to a fault on the bridge and grabbed some footage of the bridge opening and closing, it’s the only bridge of its type I am aware of in Europe

we have two road bridges of this type here in NYC over smaller creeks, and the only real flaw of the design to me is the amount of space needed compared to a lift or swing bridge, since you need to move the entire span out of the way for a relatively narrow channel.

Would be good to see an overhead view of this bridge opening but only possible with a drone I guess.

I had never heard of this unique bridge before. According to the news it's to be closed for a while for essential work

Yes the canal has been dammed and drained under this bridge for essential work to the bridge supports
