    Don't worry about the other injector values being out - they are being adjusted to compensate for the bad one. Swapping the injectors over would have determined if it was injector or engine. Compression test would have confirmed. Big difference in money between 'working' and 'spare or repairs' M57!

    Sounds pretty clear that it is a rod knock. The rod has gone oval because of injection issues. You can ruin a diesel with the fuel just being dumped into the engine. Basically the injector nozzle was plugged and likely ruined both the oil and ran the one cylinder way too rich.

    That engine noise sounded ‘exactly’ like a work colleagues car. He took it to a local mechanic who told him he needed a new engine. A second mechanic (well known with us) swooped in and proclaimed 'he could fix it' and it was likely the injectors. He spent ‘ages’ on the car however he eventually had to give up and admit defeat. During that time the first mechanic was told it was being looked at by another mechanic. His response was "don't tell me how to do my job - it needs a new engine". Well he was proven to be right.

The seller is not sure what's wrong with the engine, but he knows there is a problem with an injector and that there's zero compression in cylinder nr. 2. I've been facing a similar issue man. Extremely hard to diagnose a fuel knock on a BMW once you've already tried the basics with no luck things can get very very deep.
    Edit. After throwing the entire parts store at my car over the course of a year, I finally found out my crankshaft was warped, and cylinder 6 was underfiring constantly because of it. Hope this helps somebody.
    There are ways to measure crankshaft without removing it or removing the engine, look into this if anyone is dealing with a Fuel knock, or misfire.
    Do NOT always assume it's bearings.

    • @amy40c
      @amy40c Před 7 měsíci +1

      was it the injector or something else?

    • @tg5509
      @tg5509 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @amy40c after rebuilding the whole engine, and replacing almost every single sensor on the engine, and almost every working component, I found out it was my crankshaft. It was slightly warped on cinder 6, causing it to underfire once the operating temperature fuel mapping kicks in,(once car warms up, it knocks)
      Over 400 hours of trying this and that and 12k in parts later, and I finally have it fixed.
      I literally, found it to be the crankshaft by ruling everything else out first. Crankshaft was the last item I replaced. Ifeel like a fckin fool lol,threw the whole parts catalog at it in any order.
      But as a word of advice, whenever rebuilding an engine, check the crankshaft by measuring how far the piston is from the top, when crank is set to tdc.
      Best to reference this with its set. Usually v6, v8 or straight 6 or 8 engines, usually 2 pistons fire at a time, or at least come up at the same exact time. Use a push dial indicator to check that all piston heights are same, it's an easy way to check the crankshaft without taking it out and mik'ing it on a lathe
