This guy cartwheeled right around the $1000 one-time price tag lol!
That being said, it is worth it if you're serious about this kind of work. This plug-in is legit. I never thought about using it for photos. That's a great tip!
I do it annually because it’s better for expenses. Time is money.
I got through half the video until I learned it's useless to those of us who use Premiere Pro.
And also it is only for macOs. So not for me. But super cool plugin though.
@@Mastertist no lol, also available for windows
@@impatricktannually, tf? In my day, when you bought the software, you owned it. One and done. Everyone can get wrecked on this sub model horse shit.
Literally loved that movie, knew exactly what you were going for. Very nice.
Loved this! Keep it up
Thanks! Love your work.
¡Aquí empezó Grawx2!
As I was watching the opening short I literally thought, wow this looks like I'm Thinking of Ending Things. So cool that you were able to recreate that visual style. Thanks for the video!
Absolutely loving your videos lately. You’re approach to the creative endeavor is definitely refreshing. Keep it up
Appreciate it!
Your short film looked absolutely amazing!! Loving your content man! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Woah, apparently i didn't try hard enough to learn filmbox's existence. Thank you for this video, life-changing video. Instant subscribed, your short film is the best short film (film emulation) that I have watched so far. Love it!
Found your channel about a week ago and I’m in awe, you’re so talented bro! Hope to get up there like you one day soon! 🙌🏾
thanks Mikey! best of luck on your journey. holler if you ever have questions.
been wanting to see a video like this for years , good stuff man
I think I love you. Thank you for showing me this opportunity to recreate a cinematic look to my frames. I was looking for it for a lifetime.
Thank you for existing!!!
I have studied thousands of hours towards tutorials on this topic. You have been THE BEST teacher. Straightforward - drag and drop method. Thank you brother!!
🙏🙏🙏
Fun video! Definitely felt the references for the intro haha. Been looking into this stuff lately. Nice to see a solid demo of it!
Thanks Patrick. I'm getting to all of this a little bit late in life. I've only used programs such as Final Cut, and Adobe Premier as a complete amateur, and admired others people work. I did it as a hobby, for fun and family. I started to get into Lightroom, but then ran out of time so to speak. Retired now, etc., I still want to play around with this. I did not know this software until watching this, so thanks! I did look up the pricing, and I'll probably wait awhile at least. But it was great to watch you play with it.
You are a brilliant and absurdly underrated CZcamsr and filmmaker man. Keep on going through this path, you're gonna be big
thanks for the kind words. appreciate it!
These mini films films are just something else 😮💨👏🏻 massive inspo 🏆
thanks George!
Orange coat plug in! It’s nice having the controls through this to get your own “look” without looking like everyone else’s if using a LUT
Great short! The whole grandma Fez opening of the new Euphoria made me want filmic everything
Great opening.
Was wondering what the Twitter and IG posts were leading to… this plug-in is something I can definitely get on board with. Stellar work as always dude
The lite version still does a lot!
YES. My Suggestions tab brought me here and this was excellent. Thanks for sharing, man. Dig your style, I’ll definitely be sticking around ✌🏾
nice! thanks for stopping by, Jon.

Oh shit I've been waiting for this
Really loved watching this. Thanks man
Bought it last week and by far my favourite plugin as well. I am working on home video for Christmas couple weeks ago and still editing it and liking what i am seeing
from the plugin.
also, keep bringing these mini movies out. They are my favourite thing to look forward to lately.
@@chrisjohnsonfilms cheers!
Haha! Great short film! Love it! And "thinking of ending things" is also great! Funny, scary, weird and... a lot of things! :))
Keep it coming bro, I just pre order my Sony! Soooo fking excited!!!
Awesome stuff! Thanks Patrick
0:00 I grew up tobogganing on that hill, ice skating on the ourdoor rink (not there now) and playing hockey in that Arena across the street. The style of the video is my childhood and I don't even know it.
FilmBox is pretty powerful little tool there, I love that 16mm look. Watching digital films for so long, then going back to the older classics (35 stuff) and seeing the grain patterns is crazy to think that was normal at the time.
Going to watch the extended for more childhood. Nice video dude!
classic park
bruh i just found your channel and i fell in love instantly.
If you told me the short film in the beginning was actually shot on film, I would have believed you!
It’s a bummer they don’t have Windows support yet. However, even if they did, it might be a little while before I buy a license 😅
Editing photos inside of resolve is an interesting idea, never really thought of it. It makes sense though if you want to colour match jpgs with video.
I enjoyed this longer video, well done :)
A literal goat for this, and your presentation man thank you so much.
you're very welcome!
Like your personality man! Subscribed.
Very well explained 👍🏻 this is a new apropos for me 👌 thanks a lot 🙏 best cinematic greetings from germany
Had some Fargo season 1 vibes in the intro. I love it so much
I've watched this movie before (I'm Thinking of Ending Things). I personally loved it, but I definitely understand that it isn't for everyone and can see why it wasn't popular. This is a great video btw. It's helped a lot!
This looks like a fantastic tool. As a final cut user exclusively I emailed them to ask about future support. I’ve used film convert and never really loved my results. Ugh…now you have me contemplating this dual editor workflow.
FCP just sucks in general for color and I just gave up on trying to make it work. Resolve is 10 years ahead of Apple here.
@@impatrickt Dude do you have a video on your FCP to Resolve workflow? I'm breaking my head right now because I feel the same way T_T
PT really a goat for these cinematic fast food films
This looks so insanely good
i didnt know i needed this videos till i watched it.
Thank you for this, answered my question while typing my comment, about how, and where to find this plug in, or lut! Thank you!
Thank you Parick. i love you and ur passion.
thank you so much, man!
This plugin looks legit. I've been tinkering around with the demo version, and it makes a compelling case. It seems weird how little coverage there is on it on CZcams and elsewhere.
I assume it's simply that they aren't flinging codes all over the place to drum up interest. I kinda respect it, because there aren't a million suspicious puff pieces about it, like you get with so many gear and software launches. I don't know where I'm going with this, but it's making me reflect on the weird state of marketing (yuck) these days.
Anyway, great video.
one of my friends is a DIT for some major streaming shows/movies and he first told me about it about a year ago. im kinda glad its not a "CZcams" plugin. seems like its only being used on pro jobs so far and the price reflects that. their scatter/diffusion plugin is very widely used as well.
very nice work bro!
Holy SHIT i actually thought of "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" RIGHT away! I was so happy when you mentioned it :))
when I saw your work I thought you take (short film about love - Krzysztof Kieslowski) as a reference it a so close, amazing work man 👌
omg you did a video thats helpful as :) THANKS!
Subscribed. Thank you for this. I’m inspired
Welcome aboard!
Super sweet ! 👍🏼
I love your work ❤
Love it man. Had a Napolean Dynamite feel for sure
love that movie!
You were Napoleon, and your brother was Pedro. Had the total vibe, cadence, and dialog style.
If one day I made a movie, it would definitely have the emulated look of the film. I really don't know very well why in the industry this is not done very often, that leaves me confused, the aspect of the film is simply BEAUTIFUL
THANK YOU FOR THIS
Hi Patrick, amazing video - this makes me want to shoot in Slog3 just for this, actually... what are your Slog3 settings? thanks!
Hey man !! I’ve been using filmbox from your recommendation! I do the same thing you do , edit in Final Cut and bring it into resolve , but do you bounce your video in 4k or 1080 from Final Cut ?! Thanks 🙏🏽 love the channel , big fan
you get it. you just get it.
another hit, and damnit wow how was i not already subscribed
Hey man , I’m trying filmbox lite out right now from your recommendation, I also edit in Final Cut Pro and bringing video to resolve to use resolve , did you export video from Final Cut Pro in ProRes 422 ? Or something else .. I just edit my video in slog3 footage and then I exported in ProRes 422 and then brought it into resolve , it looks good just making sure this is the best option ! Thanks ! Love your vids
Great video. Thank you 🤘🏼
Thanks for watching!
First class stuff buddy
Just realized, you and my friend (an actual filmmaker, I’m not, you are, he is) have a similar vibe and i realized I need to share you with him. Dope vid pt
Nice! Hope they like it. Haha.
Is there a way to use your own lut or do you have to use Filmboxs conversion lut for SLOG3? I want the grain, hilation and film aspects but the ability to use my own lut for weddings as they prioritize skin tones
Bro. You inspire me to film stuff 🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️
Go for it!
Looks like fun, especially on the photo side. Can't wait for the Windows version to become available so I can try it -- thanks for the showcase!
I dont think they have any plans for windows. time to get a Mac!
@@impatrickt Those jerks LIED to me and took my e-mail anyway. (j/k -- Linux + Windows apparently are still under development.)
Could you do a round trip FCPX to Resolve video? Since you have a Sony camera I am wondering exactly how you do that successfully..You said you export a pores but how do you do correct color grading or exposure on the individual clips, I see you just imported the whole clip..? Thanks
I don’t know anything about film but I really enjoy this
Excellent video.
Great content. I'm gonna try the free version.
Thank you for the tutorial!
Do you have any recommendation for a vintage grading plugin to use with FCPX?
I don’t. I just gave up on using FCP for color. It’s too limiting.
The framing of the wide angle of the Taco Bell/KFC shop shot is fire
Hey! I have found your channel through the Panasonic gh5 (ii) and s5 test. My question would be which camera would you recommend for low light jobs? I would mostly use it in a theater and stage enviroment, thats why i need the better low light capabilities then usual. My afraid is that i dont have more money then the s5 with the kit lens and i dont know if that is going to be enough or i could do better for the price with the gh5 and special lenses. Thanks for the help!
kit lens will be rough on the S5 in low light. even with the dual ISO that f3.5/f5.6 is going to stress it out.
GH5 is atrocious in low light. Your best bet is to save up a bit and get a 24-70 f2.8 for the S5 at least.
Just got inspired.
My fav movie of all time is Synecdoche, New York
Just go ahead and do that one next. Please and thanks.
What Font did you use for the intro text ?
Okay, so I just watched the Short Film Challenge with Gerold Undone and Lee and you and I sub'd to your channel because you seem to know what you're doing by your speak (never a real indicator...) and watching this I'm immediately struck by the horrible paper sounds as you munch Taco Bell shit. What. The. Hell. Kind of Foley is that? Hahaha... Anyway, just thought I'd rib you on that. Only had a second after watching the vids from the challenge and going way overtime (gotta get in and do dinner with my wife), but I'll be checking you out more soon. I didn't even watch this whole thing ('cause, like I said, I'm on a time budget and gotta jam) but I will.
The Challenge was cool, many great videos, many that had me scratching my head. Good on ya for supporting new filmmakers.
thats literally the audio of the Taco Bell in camera. you good? the only ADR was outside on the bench.
After looking at the pricetag, dehancer seems cheap now! Thx! Helped me made my decision
Patrick! Do you edit in final cut? If so do you gave a plug in you could recommend for subtitles? I like your yellow style and font as well 👊 any direction would help, I'm working on an a7iv short travel comedy.
I just do them with titles. But FCP has subtitles baked in if you need to export SRT files!
@@impatrickt thanks my guy 🙏
Thank you for this! How do you export the photos from Resolve? Are you able to get them lossless/hi-res? I'm not a Resolve user, but might get it to try this.
I dont really give a shit about photo resolution because I just post them online. you can get whatever resolution a video can be exported as. but I dont even shoot RAW so I may not be the best person to ask.
Well you answered my question from the cheeseburger video! Thanks so much!!
Great video man
Was wondering just because of that high price point, whats your take on filmconvert since its 1/9 of the price approx.
Do you think one can achieve similar results using filmconvert?
It’s not the same I’ve had filmconvert since it came out. It’s fine but it doesn’t hold a candle to filmbox.
Nice!
Ok now im hungry again. Thanks Patrick.
Wow I’m so happy that the program I actually use is the only one that gets this for once lol
Love the look your getting with your films. The plug in is very cool but, very $$$$$.
time is money. was taking me 10x as long before.
Hi Pat,
what editing software would you recommend? Final cut pro or da vinci resolve?
fcp is a better editor. resolve is better for colour. i personally use both.
Really enjoying the content here 🙌🏽💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Definitely subbing for more 🔥 Cheers!
Straight sub from me!!
One question...at free davinci resolve version,is it posible to edit 10bit 4.2.2 files???
Cheers from Greece!
I believe it depends on the codec - ProRes yes. Compressed I don’t believe so.
Great overview! Is it possible to export a lut from Filmbox to monitor on set?
yeah I wouldn't use it though because you lose all the extra little things that makeup the image in the lut
Thomas,
What editing software do you use?
And what would you recommend for someone starting out?
that’s all in this video my friend
Great video ! Instant subscribe ! Do you need the paid version of resolve to get the full capability of filmbox ? Like grain for instance
you dont need the full version of resolve
@@impatrickt oh that’s awesome ! I thought you needed the paid version to do anything that involved grain 🤦🏻♂️ great page by the way watched like 7 of yours vids this morning , cheers !
@@Tonellacam appreciate you! thanks for watching
thank you!
You're welcome!
Great video and great short! I've always had problems editing Slog in FCPX. Seems like every clip I import, the exposure is off in FCPX. What am I missing? Any tips?
Is it overexposed?
@@impatrickt - In camera and in Premiere it looks fine. But in FCPX it looks overexposed and is impossible to grade.

Was surprised that I caught the film reference really quickly.
dudeee loved your cinematic skill can you please say your aspect ratio which you use
for the short? it's not a standard ratio. it's close to 4:3 but I just eye balled it.
Amazing bro thanks how do you export a high quality jpeg through resolve is it easy?
I don’t care much about the quality I just use the grab still feature in the color panel
@@impatrickt ok cool, I think I'm going to download DaVinci and give your workflow a shot with the trial version. I am also a final cut user. Do I need the paid version of DaVinci (studio) or will your work flow work with the free version of DavVinci?
Patrick, do you edit in Resolve, or in Adobe products? I can’t imagine that you created your new CRT opening graphic in Resolve, but maybe I doubt it’s capabilities. If you don’t edit in resolve, do you know of a good workflow for those hoping to edit in Adobe Premiere/AE, but grade in Resolve?
I edit in FCP - but this was animated in after effects. my way of using resolve is not ideal and I just round trip stuff when I have to.
@@impatrickt I assumed after effects. It’s a fantastic graphic.
When editing in FCP, do you edit the footage without adding any LUTs? Or do you edit with a temporary LUT of sorts?
@@brettrandolph6531 I usually edit in log I don’t really care how it looks for the edit
What’s going on Patrick, new to the channel. Forgive me if you’ve answered this already somewhere in the sea of comments lol, just wanted to know is there a particular reason you chose this over Dehancer Pro? They seem to be pretty similar in their makeup & what they offer. Is it a simplicity thing?
Dehancer just looks like crap imo
@@impatrickt fair enough 😂😂😂
can you give the link for this plugin
Geeezz... I'm kinda in love with Filmbox now. You sold me mon ami. PLUS I'm such a fan of that 4:3 ratio. When editing for images, are you simply copy and pasting the actual effect from one image to the other, or can you copy the adjustments, (like develop settings) ? Thank you x10
it's been a very long time since ive used this for photos but if its like video you can copy your nodes to each image
@@impatrickt ahhh nodes. I'd like to avoid those, keeping it simple in Premiere but looks like I'll have to adapt to Davinci asap ✌️
i actually didnt know filmbox even worked in adobe! crazy@@MichealBeaulieu
