This is amazing I’ve learned so much from your power grade and workflow its been so helpful for someone who is trying to get more into color grading and film emulation as of recent
This is incredible work. Buying this immediately. By far the best PFE out there. Great stuff, Tom. I can't wait to use this.
I have bought it a few hours ago and man, where have you learn all this knowledge to create a nodetree like this. Its amazing.
Thanks a lot, Tom, you have literally fixed all the issues I had with V1, both are great but I like the order of operation here and the way you made it easier to get a great starting point.
That's great to hear!
@@TomBolles How do I upgrade to V2 if I've already purchased V1? Thanks
Dude your Cineprint is amazing! I have no words
incredible work, tom! been using various film emulation tools for years and this is by far the best one on the internet.
Thank you!
this is wildly accurate, i built a similar power grade previously but your halation technique is so spot on that i now have to admit defeat and buy yours
😂😂😂
Seriously, you knocked it out of the park with this one! I have a Fujifilm X- T4
I also have an XT4… do you use any of the film emulation on the camera itself or shoot raw?
@@haydenstulen3422 I shoot raw. :) You?
@@Khoura I’m still learning how to use it lol
Tips on how to grade with flog and this pack?
This is so helpful. I am learning and would love to try these. ❤
Great work! Love it!
Wow this is really impressive
Just bought the powergrade and I love it!
Glad to hear it!
How is going now, do you still like it ??
@@abdelrahmanhabib1774 yep still using it on few projects.
Thank you for this!🙌
Hey man, would you recommend I shoot in Slog2 on my a7iii to accurately get the results you're getting? Amazing stuff btw!
I bought this powergrade and I'm impressed by a lot of the compound nodes, specifically the hallation but am wondering why you put the CST at the beginning of the node tree? I'd want to be working in DWG for the majority of the nodes and then output to 709 at the end of the node tree, no?
I am totally new to filming and want to start doing some color grading. The cineprint16 demos I have seen on youtube makes me want to buy this. What I want to know is when I shoot videos they are in raw format. I guess that means there is no color space done. Does it make it easier to apply this then? Really well done with the setup from the little I know
Also, any chance you could share what your color management setup is when using this power grade?
This is amazing. What colour space would i use for a blackmagic original? so it's 1080.
What is the best 'color space transform' settings if I shoot with Fujifilm xt4 camera? f-log and normal
mind blown
hey tom , one question: with a sony a6400 ( 8 bit) you'd still go with s gamut color space or try out something else more saturated like itu709matrix?
Hello Tom !
Your work on this emulation is so great and work perfectly, thank you very much !
I wanted to know if you had this problem once : When i apply the power grade, my all playback become very low (30 fps instead of 50). I thought it was the graphic card but i've changed it recetly for the RTX 3080 and i have the same problem.
Did you have any idea what part of the emulation can do this and how to fix it ?
Thank you very much and see you soon !
The most graphically intensive parts of the node tree are Denoise and Grain. If you’re having slow playback you can disable these. If you need to see them during playback, try lowering your project resolution
I'm Premier user but I really want to play around with this emulation so bad! Anybody know if this emulation will work fine with footage shot in Cine4 PP?
This is really great. Would the process work well if I move the bottom section to the Timeline page, and leave the top section on the Clip side? The way this is laid out, it seems like a great setup for the timeline Look workflow.
Yes, but you’d have more control with scene by scene differences if you use Groups
Amazing! Quick question..would this power grade work well with non log footage? I’m using the GH6 and usually avoid using VLOG and just shoot in the natural profile. Thanks
Have you got any answers pal???
Hey Tom, are you going to have a black Friday sale on the cineprint16 v2, by any chance? I know 54 bucks is a great price but for us Brazilians, with the conversion rate from USD to Brazilian Real, plus, dumb international fees that our credit cards charge, it comes out to a little bit more than 300 Brazil bucks for us.
Cheers
Hey Tom, I was wondering how you transfer your Apple ProRes footage onto Resolve and also how you export your clips without losing any quality. Thanks
any update?
For R3D RAW is the chromatic adaptation and Exp nodes better than using raw settings?
Hey Tom! How do I adjust the Matte layer's settings without removing any of the halation effect to fit the specific aspect ratio for my project? Thanks again for your videos! They power grade has been so much fun to use!
Instructions are in the user guide PDF. You need to change the settings in the Node Sizing window
@@TomBolles Thanks!
I'm a big fan of you brhu. ooooo mmmyyyy god i love the 16mm film emulator... How can i use this on my project PR.
Hi. Do I need to be on davinci resolve studio to fully use your product? cause when I'm applying the power grade there's a "DAVINCI RESOLVE STDUIO" thing like a waterwark on my the video itself or I can turn it off?
hey tom, where did you get those videos example?
i want to try to use your powergrade with the same vids
When I’m applying the film borders they don’t seem to show up? Any tips to help me out ?
Hey, thanks for the great video. I'm interested in buying your product but my DP is a bit skeptical about using it for East Asian cast due to differences in skin tones. Do you think it's a valid concern? Would it be difficult to work on Asian skin tones?
You can use it on all types of skin tones. Here’s a sample reel of it being used on a variety of projects: czcams.com/video/prEOWpaIkKk/video.html
If there ever are issues due to the reflectivity of colorful elements in the environment, or the color quality of the lighting, you can always correct for it with something like the color warper
what gamma and colour space do i have to put into the cst for lumix g7 footage?
I don't even have a black magic or da vinci but i found this interesting lol
hey great video but i have a question. i already added the png's of the border to the media pool as matte but when i try using the 4x3 it still doesn't work, only the 16x9 :(
Hi I have purchased the V2 version!very nice! BUT I want to ask a question can this be used in davinci wide color gamut ? HDR
Would like to know
drawing attention to the fact that the boarder feature does not work in the latest version of resolve. I am not sure why.
Does this work with S-Log 3 on an A7SIII ok? Saw a video graded using this and ended up here. Thank you for all your work on this!
Yes
Hey Tom, I just purchased this power grade. However I have the Divinci Resolve watermark on my footage now. Does this mean I need to purchase the full Divinci program for this to work?
You can use it in the free version, you just need to disable the Denoise and Grain nodes because those are limited to the studio version. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays / mattes.
Thanks for sharing! Does the cineprint16 Powergrade work with the free version of Resolve?
Yes, you can use it in the free version, you just need to disable the Denoise node and Grain node, as those two nodes are limited to the studio version. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays or mattes.
Hi, i bought the cineprint 16 V2 months ago but I have a problem :( when i apply the powergrade volumen 2 it doesn't appear the features of the powergrade. I'd really appreciate if you can help me please
wow this is amazing I don't know what email I bought it with im gonna have to purchase again 😫
hey tom thank you so much. i plan on buying cineprint 16 but does it work with da vinci resolve 18? i couldn't find the answer elsewhere.. thanks mate
Yes it does
Hey Tom, the Neon Suppression node is showing as watermarked for the studio version. I see you've noted a number of times the only unavailable features in this powergrade are the denoise and grain effects. Any clue whats happening here and how to get around it?
This is awesome. Do you think this would work with Go Pro 6 footage?
just figure out what color space the go pro uses and then you can covert it to ARRI LOG C in his CST node
Can Z Cam owners shed a light on how the power grades work with z cam (zlog) files? The power grades pretty much worked with any other cameras I've tested on, but I've not been able to use zlog files for an easy conversion.
i don't even know how to thank you. i'm so grateful. could you explain how to manage the node for the borders ? i can't figure it out
Make sure you import the PNG to the media pool as a matte. Instructions are in the user guide PDF.
@@TomBolles thank you man 🙏🏾
Hi! Is there a way to minimize the halation?
14:25 I have V2 but the border node doesn't do anything at all :( Any thoughts?
is it possible to follow on a Canon EOS 6D Mark II ?
AMAZING ! Do we need the paid version of da vinci? because when I apply the powergrade I get a Da vinci resolve watermark. THanks!
You can use it in the free version, you just need to disable the Denoise node and Grain node, as those two nodes are limited to the studio version. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays or mattes.
Hi :) once you purchase cine 16 can you use it on a demo version of Da vinci resolve as I haven't bought da vinci yet but would like to buy and use cine print 16. Best,Jamal
Yes, it works in the free version, you just have to disable the Denoise and Grain nodes. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays
Hey there really like your work - I wanted to ask, my plan is to make short films but also do photography and I'd like to keep both at the same aesthetic, I'm really keen on buying this but I'd like to know if there's a way I can use these effects and just apply it in Lightroom.
Thanks!
i think you have to put your images into davinci for that
@@andolkl Got it thanks!
for some reason halation doesn't seem to give me that pinkish red glow as shown in your video any tips?
Great work Tom! I have purchased V1 a few months back but I did not get any email to download the update as mentioned here in the comments?
Hi Andre, I do see you in the order history. Maybe check your spam folder? If you still have issues, send me an email.
@@TomBolles yes I found it! Thank you very much!
Dear Tom, will there be an update for DaVinci Resolve 19 soon?
I am getting so much color noise, i filmed with bmpcc6k pro
What i am missing?
Damn! I just bought the first version :'))
If you have the first version you get a discount code for the second version in the email
Hello, does it work even if I don't have the full version of Davinci Resolve?
This might seem stupid, but do you need the full (not free) version of davinci for these powergrades to work. I got the free version for og bmpcc footage and theres a massive davinci resolve watermark over the footy
Hi Dan,
The majority of the grade works in the free version. The two nodes limited to the full version are Denoise and Grain. You need to disable those two nodes to make the watermark go away. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays.
thank you very much, I bought it. But I didn't understand something, my node halation don't do anything when i put on?
sorry it's work. It'was because of my expo. Thanks. Good job 🤩
is this only for fujifilm cameras?
What project colorspace are you using? Rec709 (Scene) or Rec709 Gamma 2.4?
Gamma 2.4
How to get less orange look on the skin tone?
why does the output color space arri alexa no longer appear
Hey Tom, I purchased this. I’m using the free version of resolve . When I go to import the powergrade it’s not clickable to drag in or open. It says in directions to click option in import. But I don’t have “option” available. Using imac , please help…
Try importing the folder, not the file
Great ! Simple question : the color output is arri but to we nned to add a CST (at the end of the node tree) if the video needs to be in REC709. Because videosforweb, etc are in rec709. Thanks
Any response 😩?
No you do not need to add a CST at the end. The output nodes labeled Print or Cineon already bring the footage from log to Rec709 Gamma 2.4 at the end of the node tree

where i can find clips like those to practice ?
I can't seem to get the film border node to affect the clip, do you have any tips or tricks for this effect to work?
Make sure you import the PNG file to the media pool as a matte
Also, do I apply the .dpx grade or the .drx grade to footage
.dpx is the thumbnail image.
.drx is the powergrade
Do you need resolve studio to use this or can you use it with the free version of resolve?
It works in the free version but you will need to disable Denoise and Grain because those are limited to the full version. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays
Where can I get film border? thanks
Who put it in your head that putting an old film emulator makes your video look more cinematic??
can we get a link to the movie
border feature is not working in powergrade. Can you help ?
What are your color management settings while using cineprint?
Davinci YRGB, Rec. 709 Gamma 2.4
@@TomBolles timeline color space to? or is it preferable DavinciWG/Intermediate? By the way, good job!
Hey Tom, I can’t find any fix for the .drx file being greyed out on mac when I try to import. Has anyone else had this problem? The suggestions in the pdf appear to be for windows
A solution I’ve been told is importing the folder, not the file itself. If that still doesn’t work, move the .drx to a new folder and try that
Hey man. Love the CinePrint16. But it tends to make people with brown hair look like they have red hair. Any way to fix this?
Test broad strokes / simple solutions first, then get more precise if necessary
See if your WB is too warm
See if your look is too saturated
Etc etc
If its a consistent issue in your project, I’d adjust at group level with color warper and pull back that hue/sat point
What does "it's Alexa footage" mean? Is there a camera called Alexa?
How are you able to get the film border on the frame Im having trouble figuring that out
Did you import the PNG border to the media pool as a matte? There are instructions in the user guide
I have your package, but I put it on the node (edge) and it doesn't appear, how do you apply it?
What key do you activate it with? @TomBolles
hello what is color management prior to this effect
Your project settings should be Davinci YRGB color science, and Rec709 gamma 2.4 timeline & output color space
Dear Tom, I just bought now your power grade! It’s amazing, really!! Only one question, does it work in DWG for HDR? Thanks!
not me hitting control F to full screen it a few times to check detail
LOL
I am shooting mainly on HLG3 sony a7iii how do i properly match the camera ?
Use Rec.2100 as your inputs

yeah i was wondering the same
can you use cineprint 16 with davinci resolve free or you need the studio version
Yes, you can use it with the free version with the exception of two nodes, the denoise and grain nodes. Those nodes are limited to the studio version. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays
I purchased cineprint 16 yesterday, but when I apply it, the water mark ”davinci resolve studio” pops up. Is it not compatible with the normal davinci resolve 17?
If you’re on the free version of Resolve you have to disable the denoise and grain nodes because those are limited to the studio version. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays/mattes.
Looks fantastic! Is it possible to use this with the free edition of Resolve?
Yes, everything works in the free version with the exception of the Denoise and Grain nodes. You have to disable those. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays.
@@TomBolles thanks for your reply I'm going to purchase now!
@@TomBolles Hey! I'm considering buying the Powergrade but isn't the halation feature used in the power grade part of the paid version of Davinci Resolve?
The node tree uses my custom halation technique, not the Resolve OFX plug-in. So it will work in the free version.
@@TomBolles fantastic ! Thanks for replying :)
Please give me the powergrade so that i could try it out before i could make the purchase.
How did you turn on that border node in davinci I can't get my PNG's to show for cineprint border. Help Please!
Make sure you import the PNG into the media pool as a matte. Then you’ll be able to select it as a matte in the node. There are more detailed instructions in the user guide
Hi, is there a way to adjust the intensity of the Halation?
Yes, you can open the compound node and change the curve threshold and blur size
halation enabled -> withe dots and black blocks appear... what should i do?
Make sure your project settings are:
Davinci YRGB color science
Timeline Color Space: Rec.709 Gamma 2.4
Output Color Space: Rec.709 Gamma 2.4
Hey great video, I just purchased it and it all good besides the Borders. How can I use it? I turn on the node but nothing happens
Make sure you’ve imported the PNG image to the media pool as a matte. There are instructions in the user guide PDF.
Could you fix the detail? I already went crazy looking for a way and neither of the two templates are 100% functional.
Is there anyone to still use your film emulation if we don't have Davinci Resolve Studio? I just purchased this but unfortunately its not allowing me to use it.
Hi,
You can use the power grade in the free version of Resolve, you just need to disable the Denoise node and Grain node, as those two nodes are limited to the studio version. There are free alternatives for grain like using overlays or mattes.
You can disable a node by selecting it and pressing Command + D on Mac, or Control + D on Windows.
you absolute legend - thank you @@TomBolles
How do i import the matte, the border node doesn't show any effect when turned on
x2 :(
I have the same problem, I did what it says in the guide but everything is a disaster, were you able to fix it?
How do we use it for F-LOG2?
I have the same problem
i dont get it because on your page it says that you have few film stocks, kodak, fujifilm etc. but where is that part in tutorials?
Those are the positive print film options inside the Print node
It doesn’t give me the option to add my film border as a matte
Same here. Any luck?
