    • Mental Health Problems...
    Generic name: Trazodone.
    Brand names: Desyrel.
    Available as a tablet.
    How to use it?
    - Tablet: swallow the tablet with half a glass of water. If you want to you can break the tablet or chew on it.
    When to use it?
Trazodone is part of a group of drugs called Specific serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It selectively inhibits the serotonin uptake in your brain. It can be used to treat several mental health conditions:
    - Depression
    - Bipolar disorder
    - Dementia
    - Insomnia
    What is the correct dosage?
The precise dose will depend on your specific indication of use, the side effect you might experience and the severity of your symptoms. Therefore always use the precise amount and frequency your doctor prescribed you.
    - However, the usual starting dose for an adult will be 150 mg per day in 2-3 doses. This can be increased by 50 mg every 3-4 days until optimal effect is achieved. A usual maintenance dose would be up to 400 mg/day.
    What are common the side-effects?
    - Very common (≥ 10%): nervousness, dizziness, somnolence, fatigue and dry mouth.
    - Common (1-10%): rash, pruritus, allergic reactions, influenza-like symptoms, oedema, weight gain, increased appetite, confusion, agitation, mania, aggressive outbursts, hallucinations, disorientation, headache, insomnia, tremor, visual disturbances, palpitations, low blood pressure, slow heart rate, fast heart rate, fainting, high blood pressure, vomiting, abdominal pain, changes in taste, constipation, diarrhea and pain.
    - Uncommon (0.1-1%): Weight decreased, serotonin syndrome, convulsions, dyspnoea, erectile dysfunction and glaucoma.
    - Rare (0.01-0.1%): abnormalities in blood values.
    Safety:
First of all be careful to combine trazodone with alcohol. As this might increase its dazing effects.
In addition, it can be dangerous to drive while using this drug. As it can cause you to become drowsy, sleepy and/or dizzy. If you experiencing any of these side effects then please do not drive.
Furthermore, trazodone can have interactions with other drugs your are taking. always discuss this with your prescribing doctor.
We will end this video by taking a look at the safety of Trazodone during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Unfortunately is found to be dangerous for pregnant women. However it can probably be used safely for women breastfeeding. Just to be sure, always discuss this with your doctor.

If you actually need it, are trying to have an uplifted mood and are serious about your mental health and get better sleep. you will quit drinking establish a consistent baseline and then utilize the treatment. If you aren’t willing to eliminate other factors and variables then you can’t say what really works for you and what doesn’t. 3 drinks of alcohol or nicotine late at night can have impacts that last up to a week on your sleep motivation and mood. No medication will change your life circumstances and I think that’s too common an expectation. But it will help with attitude and outlook.
