    Nice video as always. You can also use a small diameter stiff wire bent to a “J” and slide it between the case and oil filter to hook & remove the filter if you don’t have the referenced pliers.

    Many thanks for infos ! I use a very simple way to check. All flushed down, bike needing to be really leaned to pull out a maximum of the engine oil. Put 750 ml , and a stick jauge made with a zip tie. Slide it down by the engine oil tap. it will go down the engine case without problem. Then you have an oil level. make a mark on zip tie where oil is at level ( just a little cut on zip tie side) : this oil jauge lets you check at any moment if you had eaten some oil or not. You see too oil pollution. The glass window is nice but on the move, we can't see anything, with all mud, dust , and even cleaned, it still needs a good light. And pure transparent fresh oil makes it more difficult to check. I do same for gearbox, with a longer zip tie, slided in at a 8 oclock angle by the clutch oil tap... Both cost nothing, stay under the seat and give super fast info about oil consumption, state of oil, especially with gearbox oil to check if polluted or not by a bad water pump seal... ;)

    Great video. In your previous video you mentioned to ignore the sight glass and just use 750cc regardless. Are the instructions in this video supposed to correct the previous instructions, or only change procedures for the brand new bikes? I own a 2017. Thanks again for the content.

    I drained and filled with 750cc on my '22 500RRS. I had issues with oil getting pushed up the breather and soaking the air filter. My dealer recommended drain and fill with 650cc. That was right on the money. Put the oil level at 3/4 up on the sight glass, and it resolved the overflow issue.

    I am surprised at some of the comments that share overfilling is not a big deal. I've been a certified master technician for over 30 years and taken a number of classes on oils . On a high performance 4 stroke engine overfilling the oil can lead to the oil starting to foam. This creates aereated oil in the top end which can lead to lubrication failure and engine damage. I recently purchased a 2022 500rrs and the owner told me about just draining and refilling with 750cc of oil. After my first ride I was surprised to see oil dripping out of the bottom of the air filter box. I removed the air filter you could clearly tell the engine was choking on excess oil which was being spit into the air filter. Sure enough when checking the oil level as per the latest procedure. Then engine had about 150cc too much oil. I've corrected it and will let you know it the engine quits spitting oil into the air box.

    • @3SeasRecreation
      @3SeasRecreation  Před rokem

      Good Morning! Thanks for sharing, I also agree. I think that the overfilling is why some people are calling with bike running issues. Enjoy the ride, Jared

      @larsihle9256 Před 8 měsíci +2

      Well , since my first post above I have done two oil changes using the new approved procedure for checking oil level hot and running. both times it took about 650 cc to get the correct level and the engine is no longer throwing excess oil into the air filter.

  • @hickokaviation2249
    @hickokaviation2249 Před 10 měsíci

    Do you have a 2 stroke oil change video? The manual references the measuring screw hole but to have oil come out of that, it takes 100ml more then the 690ml the manual says to put back in.

  • @atkolkman
    @atkolkman Před 3 měsíci

    Tried to top off the oil with the engine running as suggested in this vid. This creates an incomplete vacuum when the engine is running and my oil got very frothy. I let it settle and put the cap back on every time I let the engine run to chwcl the level again. Very time consuming but I think this is the only way to properly fill to the correct level

    Nice informative video. All too often guys do not lean the bike over to ensure all of the oil drains from the cases.
    I have had to lean mine both directions at significantly more angle for a longer period than what you demonstrated, but hopefully guys will follow the steps to get all of the oil out.

  • @maxtotow
    @maxtotow Před rokem

    thanks for the great videos. I have a 2019 4T. I have always refilled with 750cc both sides. I move the bike around alot when draining to get the old oil out. This bike always shows an empty sight glass when the engine is running and level and that is on a fresh refill. I only check the site glass after a warm up, let the oil settle a few minutes, hold the bike level and make sure the site glass shows oil to the top of the circle in the sight glass. Are the 2020 and later models different than the 2019 and earlier? If i want it to show while running it will take more than 750cc.

    • @3SeasRecreation
      @3SeasRecreation  Před rokem

      Good afternoon! Thanks for checking our our video! My suggestion is that no matter how you change/ check your oil the most important thing is that when the bike is idling that the oil is 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up the sight glass. Enjoy the ride, Jared

      Well, if its above the sight glass that's not the best. You want it to at least be down in the sight glass otherwise it will push oil up the breather tube into your air box. Enjoy The Ride, Jared

      Good Evening and thanks for checking out our channel! Putting in 750cc right away and just riding the bike might leave it overfilled which causes the oil to get pushed up into the air box. It is important to keep it in the sight glass once the bike is running. Just wanted to make a new video as this bike came in with to much oil and Beta has also released the form. I thought it was a good time to share! Enjoy the ride, Jared

      Good Evening! It is OK to put in 750cc as long as it is only 1/2 or 3/4 of the way up the sight glass once the bike is running. If it is still above the sight glass then we would recommend putting in less oil like in the video. Enjoy the ride, Jared

      No, Beta is unsure how much oil you actually drained. No different than any other engine that has oil in it. When you do your car you always leave it 1/2 quart shy and then top it off right?
