OMG! I have spent hours looking for inventory management that would do this. Seen countless websites and spreadsheet templates but they all looked super confusing and not very intuitive (and I usually *love* spreadsheets!). This video popped up in the suggestions column when I was looking at yet another spreadsheet video... this looks PERFECT for me and will help immensely in my new jewelry business because I was definitely going bonkers trying to find a solution that would work AND not cost a ton of money! What about thread? I mean per product might be a next to nothing cost, like the rivets, but thread does cost money... I wonder if you can do like a "default" use per product, like "miscellaneous" and give it a default value that you add for every item. I mean like for each bag you add 0,5 cents for those costs that you wouldnt take into consideration (rivets, thread, sewing machine usage, electricity, etc). The idea behind it is that you have a stock of something (thread) that decreases in time because it is incorporated in the product and it is a cost that you have for your business. Or maybe you account for these costs when you "price" your time?

Thread CAN be expensive, depending on how you buy it. I buy it in HUGE spools, so calculating thread cost wouldn't work for me. I also don't really know how much I use with a typical bag. That might be a bit hard to figure out.
I needed to find this for my bow/scrunchie/ handmade gifts business. Mind you I've got to guess on prices because I've had a lot of the supplies for YEARS.
This is good idea. Just being able to enter the place purchased from would save me time looking through receipts to try to remember where it was ordered from. My memory ain't what it used to be if you know what I mean! Lol
Right? and my level of bookkeeping is 'shove it in the folder and file it....eventually'. Super useful.

Oh my gosh! I was trying to find something that did this without creating spreadsheets! I’ve tried Apple numbers, Notion etc. I’ve signed up for the free tier - just a hobbyist for now. Now the hard part - going back through receipts and seeing what I currently have.
I've been looking for a program like this for years!!! It's so hard to find software that does complex/shared inventory. I have a clothing brand & do basically everything in house. So many companies, including WIX which I use, do not offer native inventory management for built/assembled products. I just signed up for the free plan of Inventora, but have zero hesitation to upgrade to the business plan with WIX integration if it does everything I need.

Oh yeah I'm not even fully setup with it yet. I did this video, had the holidays, then had to run off to Disney for the Marathon week.
I just signed up to the free version to track my stuff and started measuring some of my fabrics. Realised there isn’t a fabric width option, so writing that in the notes. Need to use it more. I’ve only used it on my phone so far.
When I put fabric in now, I don't do yards. I am using square inches. I feel it's more accurate.

Mmmm Tableau!!! I’m a principal software engineer by day and love big data architectures. It’s always so interesting to me to solve scaling problems. I about died when I saw the sprint board.

I currently manage the core platform for a fintech bank and love how easy Tableau makes manipulating data to monitor changes and outliers across our accounts. I never thought I’d see a crossover between crafting/data management but I’m loving it.

Question - using the Clematis as an example, the pattern calls for 12"x8" of faux leather/vinyl. What is the quantity that you would enter under Products?
I do square inches now - I have found it to be a LOT more accurate than saying I used a quarter yard, which I totally didn't.

Questions I still have are - it seems like you still have to calculate how much of a yard you use by adding up individual pattern pieces right? And it doesn’t account for the fact that different yards are different lengths, so knowing how much of a yard you used becomes more math.
Second question is related to Shopify integration. Is there any kind of customer interface that would allow our Shopify customers to see what materials we have available to create custom orders from?
I often get asked to add some section to my website which shows what fabrics, vinyls, and hardware I have in stock to create custom items, would this be a solution to that problem?
Hey!!! So since this video, I switched to using square inches instead of by yard. I should do a follow up video to clarify this. For Shopify I haven’t looked into it, but I will as the Inventora team!
I just started using Inventora. How would you suggest entering rolls of vinyl such as the ones from Mypunkbroidery.
Since I've gotten more used to using Inventora, I've switched from "yards" to square inches. I feel it's a LOT more accurate for me.

I order my custom vinyl from Xiamen Hsd Ribbon on Alibaba. I have ordered from them for 4 years now and they are really good! No MOQ, so I can order 1 yard or 100! hsdribbon.en.alibaba.com/
I am pretty sure they also offer waterproof canvas, but I haven't ordered that yet.
The shipping is so hard to justify for Xiamen hsd. My cart total is a little scary right now. Also, do you measure your materials used based on the pattern? I'm guessing it would be easier to just use the numbers given

Uhh which link? I checked both and they go right to the website with the "Get Started" buttons on the top and front-center. You don't have to use my affiliate link FWIW - It's mostly for tracking on their end. Try this out: inventora.com/pricing-plans/ - should see a "Get Started" button under the two plans. One is free, the other is not.
Will this work well for made to order shops?
That's what I have! I mostly track my inventory of supplies, not necessarily each item I make. I have 1 entry for each product I offer so that I know what the costs to produce are and if I have enough to make it.

@@candice713awesome! Let me know how it goes! I found it was GREAT when I got more into offering laser and embroidery products. I didn't really do that before unless someone asked. It's hard for me to find the space to store the embroidery blanks in all possible sizes/colors. Inventora really helps me keep that all organized.
