After all these years it is sad to see this truck. I worked at Mack Western at Hayward, California. I helped build this TRUCK! Evel would come into the plant quiet often. Was very friendly to the employees. One day he told all employees to call their spouses to come to the plant. He paid for our time off and put on a little show for us. In his cane he did carry tubes of Wild Turkey..

Interesting video; I few fun facts; Evil used to buy and run Kenworths for several years and pick them up at the Kansas City Kenworth plant. My dad was the Kansas City Kenworth plant General Manager and met Evil once or twice when he picked up his new truck and said he was a really nice guy. A year or two later I asked my dad why Evil was running a Mack truck. He responded "Hell he wanted a free truck and I wasn't going to give him one for free!" My dad went on the to say that Mack did give him a free truck & thats the only reason why he has one. But!
I always wondered if for one free truck a year, he probably would have sold another 100+ a year from all the publicity Kenworth would have recieved from Evil having a KW in his hey day! Just a little insight I though I would share. p.s I lost my dad in 2001, I think guys like him that grew up in the depression had a hard time thinking that it made sense to give away a $70,000 truck just for marketing!! But I still think I had the best dad a guy could have, to teach me the value of a buck among many other things. Love you & still think of you many time every day Dad.

Evel Truck is a legend almost as much as Evel Knievel is a legend. I remember the American Trucker and the two Shipping Wars episodes where Evel Truck was moved. In the American Trucker episode Evel Truck was rusting away in Florida that it had to be moved. Skeet Towing and Shipping Wars picked it up and brought it here to North Carolina where it was taken apart and the trailer restored. The next leg Shipping Wars and Skeet came back for the next move Evel Truck had to be taken to Elizabeth New Jersey where the cab and floor were replaced. Back in North Carolina the trailer was gutted and the floor was replaced. Then Evel Truck hit the road and went to Macungie where it was given a full overhaul and then the truck hit the road to it's final resting place The Evel Knievel Museum in Topeka.

Disagree with restoring the cab and trailer. It is real history. Even though it is toasty trash, it should be left as is, but the drivetrain, tires, mechanical functions need restored to be able to drive it around at slow speeds at truck shows. Obviously this dilapidated truck needs to be hauled on a lowboy location to location, then off loaded and driven at whatever event it was.
