I have the same watch but a few weeks ago it got caught in my coat sleeve has i was tacking it off and the strap pin pulled out but it damaged the hole and now the strap won’t stay in place so now the watch has no become a clock and sits on a self I love the watch but my wife says it’s the ugly one in my collection
For World Time, in my opinion the AE3000 has the best way of displaying more than one time in different zones on the main display. The only thing with the Casio AE-3000 is that it is quite a big watch so it may not fit your friend's wrist. Saying that though there are other watches like the Casio AE-1000 or even the much preferred Casio AE-1200 digital watch that allows you to view world times. I am sure that there are plenty of other World Time Casios out there but those two watches I have mentioned immediately spring to mind. Hope it helps! Cheers, Tony - WTA

As for the function of world time, is AE-3000 the best model or could there be something else better?
