i think there’s a lot of unseen beauty in imperfectness, i don’t like auto tune because it completely destroys the pure emotion from the voice. i think a lot of people are hard on him for his voice and choose not to see coolness of it. all around i love this band live.
all people do is complain about him not wanting to play shows anymore then when he does all they do is talk about how much he sucks, id probably wanna quit playing too. It's not fun to go out play when you know you don't sound good. You don't feel good after. I don't blame him for not wanting to do it anymore.
His biggest issue is that he tries too god damn hard now. People largely loved him when he was just doing his best and nothing more. Now he’s *trying* to look and sound like something he’s not. I think with the new AvA album he’s coming out with he finally figured that out a bit. I hope.

In the studio his voice can be managed in a way that comes off well but in a live performance, he's just not good. It's not one performance. It's nearly every one. So yeah, maybe he was "depressed" but it had nothing to do with his lousy singing.
The band's sound engineer Jeff "Critter" Newell died just some days before this show and Tom is probably also very drunk so I think the combination of those two things made his voice terrible. He sings great live now though.

If this were Blink, I may agree with you. But this is Angels and Box Car, his voice is perfect for the music (in my opinion).
