@@liv4pool I know that it's not the pure live sound coming through, I'm not that naive, but not even "autotune" could save his performances in the past, he was seriously all over the place vocally. From seeing raw footage of his performances on this tour and then seeing and hearing him shine in this video, there is an obvious massive improvement.

They probably took their monitor mix on stage and sent a direct out of each mic/channel to front of house and possibly a 3rd mix to be recorded elsewhere. This isn't unheard of. Bands often have their own monitor engineers on stage so the front of house engineer can't mess with the mix they all hear in their in ear monitors and stage monitors.
Rick King ? It’s got nothing to do with any engineers work on that performance on that night, the mix that you’re hearing is a new mix they re did in the studio after recording the multi tracks on that night

The question is did the re record some instruments at the studio afterwards? In any case I'm sure it's been edited, especially vocals had been manually pitch corrected

Box Car Racer proved to me back in the day that Tom was tired of Blink 182. BCR was my favorite work of his honestly. He actually gives a shit about the performance and sound of Angels and Airwaves. You never saw anything approaching "tight playing" with Tom and Blink 182. He is no philospher but he is a deeper person than what Blink 182 ever allowed him to explore. Can't blame him for moving on.
This is probably the best I have ever heard Tom sing live. He totally killed it. With that said I use to love the way he butchered my favorite songs live.

Saw him in Detroit and he sounded this good the entire night. He's serious about coming back.

Stopping the booze and pills helps. Also having Ilan there to tell him when he sucks has been awesome for him. The former bandmates were all a bit punk so the shittier the sound the "cooler" it was. Ilan aint playin with sloppy messes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Ilan Rubin is the best thing that could have happened to this band. This performance was AMAZING. Tom killed it.
Ilan has saved this group. We get to enjoy Tom’s ideas and creativity with great live quality.
To build a solid building you need a solid foundation. Same goes for a band and drums. You can't have a tight and together sound if your drummer is not tight with groove and timing. Just can't have sloppy time keeping and a good live show. I learned to play drums myself and learned recording and production to make my own music because of the specific ideas for drums I had.

Well I don't think so. It's just well mixed. Back in 2008 when he played at Guitar Center, it was the same.
Zoster X I hate to be the one to say it but.. if you’re talking about the Guitar Center Drum Off, that was 100% tuned in post. There are audible artifacts (short glitches from the tuning software) present in the vocals. Secret Crowds comes to mind as a good example of the tuning being noticeably present.

I have been a Tom fan since skating in middle school in 1999 listening to Dude Ranch. This is by far the best I ever heard him sing live. This sound guy deserves an award. Great Job and an unbelievable video. Glad he is back and actually trying. Incredible.

I haven't noticed a spot of autotune in this one, whereas you can DEFINITELY hear it in their older shows (from 2006 to 2010). 7th Avenue drop they literally put the studio vocals over the live instruments lol. I don't think they use autotune live for vocals, Tom's main issue is vocal quality, not pitch like it used to be. Pitch correction won't fix vocal quality

Saw them in St Louis a few weeks ago. Can’t believe how good they sound, literally the best ever in Tom’s career. He’s obviously gotten a vocal coach and has gotten serious about his singing. While this performance does have some minor pitch correction, he really does sound this good live right now.

Take it from a skeptic who stayed away from churches, had no Bible and scoffed at Christianity. It happened in my own apartment. Jesus woke me up. I had been asleep for 38 and a half years. Even after all I did against Him in hatred, He defeated me with everything He did for me with love. Now I see so much that we are just drenched in evidence of Him. He is everywhere. Believe with all your heart, mind and soul. Seek Him He will be there for you, He always has been. Though you may hate me I still love you and am only trying to warn you that what's to come is horrific. The worst 7 years on earth ever. The false christ will FORCE his one world gov, $$$, and religion with death. But Jesus will rapture His church out of the world first. Please rethink your salvation. Just believe and follow, Jesus does the rest. Maranatha Lord Jesus Christ 🙌🏻

For everyone that’s saying this is his best vocal performance in years, I definitely can’t deny that, although don’t be deceived by technology these days, I can guarantee the sound of Genia when remixing performance in the studio would’ve done some intense vocal tuning. There’s a massive process that goes into these very polished mixed live performances. Which is why they mute the crowd mics during the music so it the music doesn’t cross bleed etc so it just cleans it up, it also helps massively when tuning the vocals so you can’t hear the untuned vocal sing crowd mics
