    This is best play through I’ve heard with this amp. Most of the others, My ears failed to capture any plexi tones or anything remotely close to Jimi. People don’t like to contextualize the fact that the sounds they remember were quite shoddily recorded in the 60s, in a full band setting, and they’re hearing a modern recording setup and a solo guitar. Most people (myself included) haven’t played a real plexi, but for people to say these amps don’t hit the mark, they’re just lying to themselves imo. Every demo I’ve heard so far sounds effortlessly Hendrix-ish and they’re not even playing strats lol.

    I pretty much like everything about this amp and I‘m definitely gonna get one since I always wanted a great affordable plexi. One thing I always missed tho was something like a 2 channel style amp or just a preset to quickly switch between a cute broken up and an almost cranked plexi sound. In a live situation you can‘t do that since you can only use the sound you dialed in on this amp. Great demo!

    I own a HDRX20 and got curious about what some CZcams demos show. I feel nearly every one I've watched makes the mistake of always using BOTH bridged channels. Hendrix and most artist in the 60s were not bridging the channels and Jimi nearly always used the bright channel. The HDRX20 imo sounds it's best when using only the bright channel or at the least very little of the bass channel. The HDRX20 has plenty of bass and low end and using too much of the bass channel just gets way too wooly, fuzzy and bloated.
    If that's how you like to run it, cool, but i feel these demos arent doing the amp justice using both chennels like that. Crank it only on the Treble channel or add a tad of the Bass channel for a more Superbass/JTM sound.

    Buddy, lets say money isnt a factor, im looking at this and a few other amps, is it worth it? I know its the wrong approach but the low price tag throws me off and im thinking about either the 50w or a carr mercury. I had to much cheap gear when i was a kid but this sounds good. What did you really think?

    • @clos87
      @clos87 Pƙed rokem

      Hey Bill, not buddy blues but I was on the same boat as you and the price tag of this amp threw me off as I have been playing mesa boogies (Fillmore and Cali tweed), fenders (5e3, Chris Stapleton Princeton, Handwired deluxe reverb, vibroverb) however, this amp feels like it could easily be double the price. I already gigged with it twice and tonight will be the third time. I wish it had an fx loop but I understand they are trying to keep it as the originals. I do love the available headroom, I’m able to get an awesome clean tone with decent volume then push it with pedals, on the other hand, I owned the Marshall SV20 and it had very low headroom. Hope this helps.

    It all sounded great until the fuzz and uni-vibe wanna be pedals were cut on. When i use my real uni-vibe it doesnt take much of the effect to get the hendrix sound when he used that pedal. And one extremely important pedal i didnt hear is the WAH-WAH pedal which was one of his most used pedals. Fuzz, WAH, uni-vibe, and Octavia... Boom. And his use of the Wah is often just on and set in different positions and left there.. thats how he gets those "Violin" tones..Great playing though, im just that guy who has played Hendrix for 3 decades and looking into this amp for smaller gigs. One question...have you played the PRS Sonzera? Just curious if you feel that its comparable in any way. I played one and really enjoyed it. Thanks!

      I’m not sure the Isle Of Tone Haze 67 and the Sabbadius Funky-Vibe are wanna be pedals
 they’re considered the gold standard for modern day recreations of pedals from the 60s, BUT Thanks for watching and the kind words on my playing. I haven’t played the sonzera but have only heard great things

      They’ve been up since 2014, don’t jinx it 😂 most are mounted into anchors, a few into studs, and a lot just straight up screwed in. The shot you see is just one wall there are plenty of hooks that wrap around the space. Always drill into studs, when you can’t, use anchors

    Great as always Buddy. This is the 3rd or 4th review of this amp I've seen. Sounds tiny and fizzy in every one. Phases like "bedroom" and "club friendly" by definition, CAN'T apply to an amp that is claiming to be rooted in Woodstock pedigree, and certainly not when being associated with Mr Hendrix. Swing and miss for PRS. I am a fan of buddy blues however, keep up the good work friend!

    Not my favorite to be honest just from for demo here.
    It's like it has a built in fuzz into the circuit.
    It definitely has some tasty tones within it though.
    I'd still take a used Fender Concert 410 over this. But that's just me.
    Now the 50 watt version sounds way better in the demos imo.

    • @darwinsaye
      @darwinsaye Pƙed rokem +2

      What you’re describing as sounding like a fuzz is accurate vintage amp behaviour. Listen to demos of old FenderTweed Deluxes cranked up all the way and they sound just like fuzz because that was the character amps used to have when cranked up, before the age of “tight” distortion that amp makers managed to get by the late 70s.

      Because it’s my plexi. Not yours. I can use it as a tray to heat my cheese if I wanted to. I didn’t think it sounded awful, neither did PRS. Your opinion matters, somewhere. Not here
