- During the video test it performed well! Nice design also!
Unfortunately the handle broke only a few weeks later by throwing towards a wooden target made of firwood! Strong aluminum handles would be a good alternative. The head`s still fine! - Zábava
Good demo. You spoke a few minutes, showed off it's sharpness, toughness, and chopping in several tests and you move flawlessly from English to German. Great video and makes me want to buy an M48 tonight.
DO IT I HAVE 2, AND BOTH ESTWING ONES, I LOVE THESE THINGS!!!
No lie, I actually found one of these today on the ground. We had to go clear out a rental house my uncle owns and the previous renters left it when they dashed out on the last month's rent.
So I haven't spoken German in a few years, so its actually quite helpful to hear you switching between German and English. Danke schoen!
Well I have been looking at this unit for some time but i have had bad experiences with United Cutlery products but your video has me sold on this tomahack. 'm going to go buy one now.
i took a east-wing all steel framming hammer , cut the head and claw off , and welded a cold steel tomahawk head on ! indestructable !!!!!!!!!!!!!! geat balance , great tool --- now , of course made in china , built in the U.S.A ! GRETA VID MAN ! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK , MORE ENGLISH PLEASE , EVEN THO I WAS STATIONED THERE , STILL CAN UNDERSTAND ALL GERMAN ! GOD BLESS .
Broke my handle today which I've gotta say I was really disappointed however I welded a steel bar to the head and it runs right threw the handle creating sort of full tangish, other then that still a great tomahawk
I have me ordered a M48 Tomahawk I will get in 2 days. When watch your video and saw you put it to the test. Now I know I got a great camping tool or hunting tool coming.
i love this guys accent makes me feel like im in a james bond movie XD thanks for the review
Just picked one up here in the US. The hawk is badass!!!. I tried throwing the tomahawk and could get it to stick in the target almost every time.
Awesome review! I was really sketchy on weather or not to buy a tomahawk like this because of the fear it wasn't tough enough to handle getting roughhoused. But after seeing your review, I was confident in getting one. NOW I OWN TWO!!!!! Thanks!
Excellent review! I wish more people would be as thorough as you. Thank you for this video!
BFG thank you for posting this review; it was clear, concise, and entertaining. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
This tomahawk is not meant for utility, it's meant to be light and fast for fighting. If you want something for chopping you need something like the Smith and Wesson E&E Tomahawk, It's full tang and almost an half inch thick! It's more for utility purposes. But good video and awesome mustache!
I own this and it hands down one of the best weapons in my opinion i even own the sog fusion and thats good too but its not as good as the M48
you can bet. this is knoweledge of decades!
But the handle is flimsy
I'm impressed. United cutlery is not normally known for quality, but that looks functional.
Great Review ! I bought one because of your work. Thanks Ghost.
jaaaa grosses messer...
thanks for the review
Great review and cool it's in your language also, ordered mine, should be in tomorrow, can't wait!
I have one, the apocalypse edition. chopping trees, splitting wood and throwing. Handle was hitted many times hard and its still ok. Must sharp it more frequently, dont know much abut materials like 2Cr13 compare stainsless steel...
Sick hawk man and awesome mustache
Cool, great video test!
@10Lav Thanks,I appreciate it ;) All the best,
Chris
That's the reality of every bladed weapon. Depending on the quality of steel, some will require more upkeep than others.
Very good video! Thanks for your thoroughness.
2cr13 is a stainless steel which is often used for blades manufactured in asia (china) ... it´s a durable steel which is easy to sharpen , but it doesn´t hold his edge very long ....
aus 6 is a high carbon steel , which is mostly used as a blade steel , because it is very durable , holds his edge very long and is with a little effort relatively easy to sharpen ...
heavy duty bro , nice video
Great review you maid me purchase this beast thank you.. its on its way I can't wait..
good review, thanks! and nice throw and slo-mo
nice video, showed a lot of performance unlike many other videos on youtube.
Yeah, he is right about that hooking point at the bottom. It might look cool, but its dangerous for a combat hawk. When you fight at close range with one, you want to be able to slam hour hand forward down the shaft of the handle without having to worry about skewering yourself.
great review brother , keep up the great work . i'm learning to speak german so thank you for translating i'm not that good yet LOL
Spike is intended for punching through armor. Kevlar is not easily cut, but a well placed swing should punch through a kevlar helmet. The spike simply has less surface area and thus will not "bite" as much into the kevlar creating drag which lessens impact. Simple brute force penetration in a concentrated area.
@MHKtac the balance point is right behind the head - just where it should be on a powerful combat tomahawk.
very good review. definitely considering one now
man that back yard is amazing! germany is so cool :0
That "backyard" is actually a piece of my private woods in Black Forest.
Yeah - we have a lot of fun with it.....and also: alot of work ;)
It's not an RMJ, but for the price not bad. Sure beats 400 bucks for a kestrel. A lot of these are marketed as self defense weapons or breaching tools for military. Which is why they tend to come knife sharp. Seems like they are getting more popular outside the US as well.
looks good im impressed dude ill be ordering one thanks and great vid cheers
Thank you for watching. A little update: when throwing this tomahawk too hard, the handle may possibly break - the head itself is good!
That stach.. is awesome
I have this, and I completely agree with what you said about it's sheath, the way to go is to make your own kydex sheath
Wow, I really enjoy your review. I also like that its in english and german, thats really awesome!
Your videos kick ass man! I get to check out awesome vids and work on my German! I work for a little German company called Daimler in America. I love it. Auf Wiedersehen.
Great point about the sharp pointed edge. I took a file and rounded mine down to prevent possible injury to my hand.
thanks for the video, i realy have to lern to speech german, its a beautiful language. Danke. Greetings from Quebec, Canada.
badass! great video!
@KnifinMadPaintballer Yes,it is. Like everything from United Cutlery. But they improved their quality during the last two years,I would say.
The ones that our military typically choose (since they are not issued) have them, its in the case you over strike you still do damage, they are trained in the use of the whole edge by outside specialists. If you don't feel its necessary why not get a nice GB hatchet? little more expensive, but its forged steel instead of soft 420 stainless.
This is relatively new design compared to SIG .. so new design feature. Can be used as a hook like a police baton to pull your opponent. There is a video on the Net showing that. Nice review!;)
Forget the duel brass knuckle/retractable knife combo i'd one of take this and maybe a guard of somekind anyday. I'd add it to my kit.
Thanks for the review. I bought one a few days ago for $30 US. I was wondering if it would hold up. Ich möchte Ihnen ganz herzlich danken. Great job!
The only thing I know of this tomahawk is that it will break if you use it on anything other than wood. Its fine for what its designed for but nothing more.
I should note that's also why the sharp point on the beard is there, to hook into flesh in the limbs, shoulders, back of the neck to control your opponents movement.
Nice! We sell these and I tell all my customers to check out your video! Keep up the good work!
Nice video. I have one of these bad boys. Well cool weapon.
Hello from Finland. Gerber also has an axe that is basic axe made by Fiskars, a Finnish company. It's not tomahawk, just basic axe but very good.
HEY!! I didn't know Rob Halford was German! LOL, Great vid, Bro.
My friend, thank you for doing your best to translate your video to English. I greatly appreciate it, since my German hasn't been used in about 30 years!
Looks like a nice tomahawk, almost exactly like the SOG Tomahawk, except for that great looking grind along the top. Does it come with the wrap on the handle, or did you do that?
Thanks BFG!
Makes it sound even scarier when he describes it in German. . . !
LoL...really??.....cooooool ;))))))
I live in Southern Black Forest Area,Germany.Thanks.
Super Review.
awesome video
You are one serious badass! Sehr gut!
60 Euros!? Holy crap thats up there, even here (New Zealand) its about $50NZD.. which equates to about $100NZD if that were a Euro exchange, wow! O_O
~ I have an M48, lol the sheath bit haha yip, I had a leather one made. I take the M48 out hunting a lot (as a woods item, back up to my Bowie knife) I love it. Its solid and does what its meant to.
great video
AUS 6A steel? Hmmm ... ... As I was reading the details about this item from the store, it says 2Cr13, which is much lower grade than Aus 6A.
That is awsome i wanna learn how to throw one like this too :D
great video! great tool/weapon and thank you for the English translation :)
Coole Review...Danke!!!
Great video Chris -thank you! You sold me on the United M48, I just got a United sentry knuckle duster trench knife today.
You know, I knew that some CZcams ass clown would make a comment about a political party. As an American born German, I apologize for his ignorance.setzen
Sie fort, meinen Freund anzugreifen!
@blackforestghost1
Thanks for the great review. I wish I Could read German so I could go over the comments section. Your great did two languages in one short review. Thanks :D
Very good video.
Thank you for the review. I just purchased an SOG Tactical tomahawk. I haven't used it yet, any opinion you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
@ZEUScagkan Every blade(also Busse or Strider) become less sharp, when using them. But it needs a while, before you will have to reaharpen it. The steel of this tomahawk is easy to resharpen.
You look like such a badass holding that
what tape did u use on the bottom of the hawk??.. and i dont knw what to get out of this tomahawk and the Smith & Wesson Tactical Tomahawk, your opinion pls which do you think is better??
what do you think is better the m48 or the sog I have the sog but this looks cool can it compare in strength thanks.
@blackforestghost1 nice reviews you have..what type of knife martial art you practice? greetings from holland
I would love to have this. It would be So BADASS!!
Hey BFG!
Nice Review! Looks like a really fun thing to have.
Just one question; could you tell me where the balance point on the handle is?
Thanks
lg
hey, i am gonna buy one for my bug out pack and i was just wondering. What did you use for the grip?
Technically speaking that's what it means, yes, but people are often reluctant to use the word due to its connotation. "Kaiser" is the preferable term when referring to a ruler or leader from what I've learned.
Hey geiles Video :)
For the same price point you can get the SOG - Voodoo hawk which is made from slightly better steel (from a company with a much better heat treating process) and a superior design.
I prefer a straight edge
may be you don't undersatand my question what is your brand of your gloves ?? please thanks
hi I wanted to know your gloves are with what stand out thank you
You can always reinforce the handle or get someone to make you a wooden one like I'm gonna do for better performance
servus,
@MrJohnygit Thanks!
Since you put up this video, have you had any issues with this hawk? I have heard a couple of people say that the handle on theirs broke after some throwing/hard use and that it was just cheap plastic. Would it be comparable to the Cold Steel Trench Hawk, perhaps?
Sorry for this late update: Yes, the handle broke - will replace it myself by some good aircraft aluminum tube as a handle!
except the handle is actually FIBERGLASS cool dude
I got my M48, but it does not have the white text between the blade and the spike that says M48 HAWK. Does that mean it's fake?
I like to throw tomahawks alot, but I always end up breaking the handle. Is the handle for this very strong?
Apologies if you mentioned it in the video and I missed it, but what did you wrap the handle with? I'm going to order my M48 soon and was going to do a paracord wrap on the handle. This thing IS A BEAST. Also wanted to add that your comment about all the Nazis being in Poland was hilarious!!! Be well, my friend!!!!
is that your garden? beautiful scenery!
thank you for the English dialogue. It really allowed me to enjoy your video even tho I "nicht sprechen Deutsch"
Thank you for watching my vid and commenting. I really appreciate it!
Greetings from Southern Black Forest, Germany!
