I have literally been playing since I was 4 years old (I'm 14) and my shots have always been awful. 5 minutes later I have destroyed my PVC net with monster slapshots and wrist shots. Thank you so much for this video, man.
I was 10
How does Marchand do nose to toes if his noes reaches to the other side of the rink
Thanks to you I'm now captain in my AAA hockey team I owe you one! :)
Yeah thanks to this video I’m getting drafted to the OHL first round! :)
noice
@@TheUnitDyw How you doing now?
Great one for the wrist shot, after many years of playing I realized I am having a tough time shooting. Now I see what I am doing wrong. I rreally enjoy your emailed videos & others I have seen.
Thank you! Excellent explanation! The conclusion has no sound though
I'm not a beginner and I still watch those, it's often good to remind ourselves the basics.
Nice shoulder turn on the follow through!
Thnx so much just started this year love the sport your tips help me so much
Thanks! Helped a lot!
Thank you, this helped alot
I definetely like these instructional videos. I'm only playing in this amateur league where tackles and slap shots aren't allowed (because people would propably die) so wrist shot, snap shot AND especially the back hand shot technique (which I didn't have at all) are definetly broken really nice into pieces and easy-to-remember steps. Slow motion also helped alot. Only played a couple of years as a junior, but they didn't cover the shooting technique anywhere near this good. Great job!
2 videos in 2 days. Perfect weekend.
Thanks for the video it helps a lot I like how u corrected urself and said i can work on that.
You rule jeremy. Great teacher.
Awesome vid Jeremy would you do a vid on exercises to improve wrist strength specifically for the wrist shot.
Thanks man. Good stuff,
As always, excellent video excellent tips and well produced! :)
Thanks!
This is very useful I live in Ireland I always wanted to play ice hockey but the nearest ice rink is 6 hours away I bought fake ice and a few pucks and a stick and made my own goals I can know shoot thanks for making a dream come true
This is really helping my shot
Your shoulder is pointed at the net (just one), so chest facing the boards. This sets you up to draw the puck across your body and get a lot more power. You can use your entire body to generate power, your legs, arms, torso, and get more weight transfer. With your chest facing the net (shown in another video) you will use mostly arms and focus mostly on a quick release. I describe that shot in my snapshot video.
Such a good tutorial
Thanks! Before this video I had no idea how to wrists shot now after the video I know how
Actually playing hockey is a nice distraction from the cba stuff! Your vids helped me gain a reputation for having a terrifying shot. Thanks man!
Greetins from Finland ..your lesson was great i will try it on next ice season ....
so do you put the puck at the heel of your stick and let it roll off of the toe throughout the shot?
For the slapshot I have it half way down, snapshot a few inches higher than that, and wrist shot a little higher. It all depends on how well you can load the stick, and like you said everyone develops their own style.
Hey guys, I've noticed there are a lot of goof balls who always have something to say about your instructions. Thanks for always giving good solid advice. Appreciate
Great video, could u do a more advanced video on defensive skills? Thanks!
Jeremy, during the motion, just before the release (which would be step 3 in this video), are you creating space between the puck and the blade or are they in contact throughout the entire process up until the puck is released?
how do you like the Gx8? I found one on the discount rack at my local store about a year ago and loved it, but couldn't find them without purchasing them online after that (I need to see and feel my stick before I pay for it, online shopping is not for me). Since then I've been using mostly prostocks, usually RS or Vapor x60, but I've never forgotten the Winnwell. One of the best weight/durability combos for a relatively cheap price
I have this problem too, push down on the stick through the whole shot, make sure to get a quick scissor motion with arms at end to get good spin
Ah this sounds like my problem too, too focused on the bottom hand creating flex and trying to dig to get the puck up. I need to add that quick wrist rotation at step 4 for the spin
Can you make more videos on quick releases from a snap shot in different positions?
Im actually so happy! I got my wrist shot after watching this!
Terrific stuff as always Jeremy. I love how you get into the nuances of the techniques that most other videos don't. You're so lucky to grow up in Canada....here in Pennsylvania we're lucky to get a month of good outdoor ice.
Here in Florida we only get.. oh wait..
I was watching another video earlier and they were saying to not move the top hand very much (as opposed to pulling back on it in your video). I have noticed amateur players make good looking shots without moving the top hand much. What are the pros and cons of both approaches, quickness verses power or something?
That's a good way to start learning and get a feel for the puck, but don't be afraid to start with the puck in the middle. Once you get better start and finish from the toe, a good number of pro's shoot with all toe, but you need to learn how to use the stick and blade first.
oh...thanks great video btw!
Love that
what about with moving ? do you still face the same way?
hi! could you make a video about stick lie and length?
Hey, I'm having some trouble on receiving the puck and then taking up and into the offensive zone any tips? or ideas? Thanks.
Hey Jeremy, I'm having a bit of trouble shooting the puck high. in the video you mentioned that you pull with the top hand and push with the bottom. I don't know if that's what im doing wrong, but if I make a video response, could you comment back? and tell me what im doing wrong?
im going to try this after school thank you for showing me! :)
did you do
It
You should PLEASE make a video on the best ways to score on a breakaway
Hey loved the video, but do you think that you could make a video to show all the shots in one video (wrister, slap shot, snap shot, backhand) and show in a real life example what moments would be the best to use those certain shots? I’d really appreciate it
So i practice on tennis courts on roller blades because the closest ice rink is 30 minutes away :/ so as far as skating and practicing my shot, would the transition to ice be easy even though it is on tennis courts?
I hold my stick from the side. So I have to hold it on top instead for more power? Does this apply for both snapshot and wrist shots?
Is it really necessary to have your bottom hand so high up? As a beginner It's pretty hard to flex the stick with my hand only one forearm length down the shaft
Make a video on stick handling through the legs and deeking
Does it matter if the puck starts on the heel of the blade versus the center of the blade? When i was a kid they always said start with it on the heel.
Also need to keep your head up and look where you want to put the puck. Feel the puck on your stick. Good video of basics. Would have liked to see a wrist shot while skating.
What's weird, I've watched so many videos and still couldn't shoot. So, started to think why is my stick going under the puck and just fluttering the puck weakly through the air? So, I started realizing you have to do everything in a continuous motion, not a sporadic wrist flicking motion. Your stick has to maintain contact with the puck while shooting it. I know this sounds stupid, but I started to think of it as throwing the puck with my stick and following through, keeping the puck on my stick until releasing it the last split second, after you've generated enough momentum with the puck on your stick. So throwing the puck with your stick, not shooting it is how I see it now.
When I started my shot with the puck was straight on, now I don't know why its flipping end over end and it's getting frustrating. Any tips would help please. Thank you.
at the point of release, should my eyes be on the puck or on my target?
Cool ty
What is a good length to shoot from? I'm shooting on a goal that stands 7 meters away...
You explain very well,,,You dissect properly which is useful for beginners...what is funny is that "Wrist shot" translates by "slide shot" in French (from France not Canada...) and "Snapshot" translates by "wrist shot" in French...Oddly enough I always used more my wrist on a snapshot than on a wrist shot so I do not understand why English use this term..that is a mystery
I live in CA im 16 just starting i know ill never be a a pro but i still have fun playin in the roller rink
5:23 voice crack lol
I started beer league recently and I'm 24. I am a really good player on foot or roller blades but ice is way different. I seriously need to know how to accept a pass as a forward with my back turned to the puck. PLEASE release a video it would be greatly appreciated. BTW I already purchased the stickhandling guide and have been reading it every night.
Do you ever make videos for goalies?
Wow I got so much better because of you
I suck at shots and no matter how many videos I watch I can’t get any better
Thanks you made me A team
I go a few minutes before public shinny, or stay late before the Zamboni gets on. Sometimes I bribe the Zamboni driver with beer.
What would you like me to do a video about?
sorry if he's said this before but how do you get the rink to yourself...
im confused about something. earlier in the video you said that the shoulders are facing the front...if my chest is facing the net and my shoulders are facing the net, that isnt a wrist shot?
Hey @howtohockey how do you shoot while skating?
Villads West keep you head up
i love you
Could you tell what is your weight? What flex of the stick do you usually use?
Ur flex should be half ur weight and if u want, a little bit lower or higher that's what he said in a different video
Check the audio at the end
is it gonna be available for android?
Thanks I did good didn't I?
Often the puck is not flying like a frisbee when I do a wrist shot. It wobbles in the air and I lose a lot of accuracy. What can I do to get that away?
Thanks a lot I could barely lift the puck of the ice now my shot is great
Same I couldn’t raise the puck either but now I shoot great
@@loafofbread3057 which steps were you missing to get the puck to elevate? My shot is so inconsistent and recently it’s been ankle high at best.
Don't forget to flex HARD!!!! And GO SHELF!!!!
IS IT OKAY IF YOU TAKE A wrist shot from the heal of your stick because you can take a wrist shot from the heal of the stick the middle of the stick and the toe of the stick please respond to this
Yes
I have the same socks
my gym teacher made me watch this
Whenever i take a wrist shot i can never shoot high. I can lift the puck but i can't pick top corners. Any tips?
so what advice could you give me because my wrist shot wont lift off the ice? it just skips along the surface...what am I doing wrong?
MORE POWWWAAAAR!
try angle your blade more up, thats what i did to make my slapshot go up .
hmhmmhmmh
keep a firm grip, push down on the ice when first moving the puck. make sure you are not letting the blade point outwards ( depends if you are lefty or righty ) following through the shot and yes more power
Don't listen to these other guys. Focus on rolling the puck down your stick. Look up a video on how to do a saucer pass. There's lots of them, but that is specifically the action you're looking for to get rise out of a puck.
I'm making a shooting APP, it has a shot tracker, quick release trainer, and a buzzer beater. Subscribe to our blog or Facebook page to be notified when it's available.
How much faster does weight training affect your shots? in terms of MPH
The best training to shoot a puck faster at an amateur level is to improve your technique and timing.
Thanks :)
Alex Ryder I was 16 who was trained to shoot, shooting 20 MPH faster than 23 year old beefy engineer on ice.
I haven’t played in a month and can’t lift the puck an inch anymore. Hope this helps
Hello
Hi
I live in Canada
what about roller
How can I prevent the puck from spinning really wobbly in the air instead of spinning like a frisbee
lol i play at that arena its in huntsville ontario
Lol...my team uses also that sockes
So much of hockey is technique. You dont even need to be that strong to rip pucks if you do it correctly--so much easier said than done though.
um u didnt talk about how have to start on the heel of the stick....???
I like shooting right because it's easier for me and i can practice my shots :P
You went over The toes
I play hockey💣😄
All kinds of checking in correct way, please! :)
better to face ur feet torwds the goalie because once you face the direction of the boards the gaolie gets ready
