- JJ Redick was calling games for ESPN this year at The 2022 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas Nevada. One of his favorite games was between The Oklahoma City Thunder and The Orlando magic. So we decided to get his thoughts Chet Holmgren, Josh Giddey, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and The Future of The OKC Thunder. If you enjoy this little vlog video essay thing, holler in the comments.

Wuddup, everyone. I hope you all enjoy this little vlog video essay thing we put together. I'd like to do more of them so let us know in the comments if you are into it.
I liked it a lot
This was great 👍 we would definitely love more of these.
Absolutely! Think it gives him a chance to do scripted breakdowns as well as podcasting. Watching him make light analysis videos with the iq of an NBA player would be immense for anyone trying to understand the game or someone who just wants entertainment. Channel could be a mix between podcasts and scripted breakdowns (not as in depth as thinking basketball as I doubt that's what he wants but akin to rusty buckets? With the vlog aspect too) Just a possible avenue for the channel
yes, one for the warriors young players since jj called one of their games
As a Thunder Fan I appreciate this
This profiling, projecting and almost scouting-like content might honestly be one of your best videos yet. More of this please!
Agreed
I also agree
Definitely more scouting reports. Please and thank you.
Agree
Totally agree! I think the players that played in the league that dissect current players in the league give so much good information. Something analysts on ESPN just can’t do. (Not counting JJ obviously) lol
That was dope. Love the court side footage.
Ya’ll gotta get Lu Dort on the pod sometime too. Haitian French Canadian dude went from undrafted to going for 30 in a game seven as a rookie. Now just cashed out for $80m a couple years later. It’s a great story!
Dort didn’t go for no 30 in no game 7 as a rookie
@@Malikttv757 but he did tho
@@Malikttv757 He went for exactly 30 in game 7 first round against the Rockets in the CP3 season. Its a fact.
Lou dort has gonna be a champion one day, every chapmionship team needs a guy like that
Montréal Nord on the map
Do more of these, this is great unmatched creative NBA content with 1/1 insight from JJ. We need more of this.
Loved the first vlog JJ! OKC fan in Oklahoma and this young core is giving us a lot of hope, hopefully we can build and keep this young core intact!
They have a history of not doing so….
@@tomevers6670 stfu we coming for that chip bb
I loved this vlog essay style video. Def would love seeing more of these on the younger teams in the league.
I like the Rubio comparison with Giddey's passing, but personally, I see it as the evolutionary version of Ginobili's vision. That pass at 1:10 couldn't have been more like something Manu used to do.
Manu offensively is far superior to both tho, the Rubio comparision is great because of his limitations offensively which he shares with Giddey. Its strange how international pass first players stand out so much compared to shoot first US players when you cant have a whole team of shoot first players, obviously a high school and college thing where they are the man on the team and focused on scoring.
@@OPTIMUS6LTR yeah totally agree about the offensive capabilities of each. And yeah, I think it’s something about the way they grow up learning the game. Far more emphasis on the fundamentals, and they don’t play AAU ball over there, they play basketball. I think AAU has a lot to do with all of the guys today comin up thinking they’re Iverson because they play so many games every single Saturday and Sunday and so they get the chance to hone their craft, but in a way that makes them believe they can “stand out” at tournaments, which I think then leads to a bunch of shot chucking teammates that no one wants to play with
I think he going to become what’s Rubio supposed to be
They have a very bright future ahead of them. Oklahoma fans are certainly up for some exciting basketball in the coming years.
KD , Russ and Harden 2.0
@@spoonsVSforks True OKCs back team the best!!!!
Not seeing it myself
Yep, I mean if they wanted too, if this French kid is the new Lebron. They could package 7 first round picks and get him if they wanted. Though I don't know if they'd want to get another skinny rookie just yet.
@@billricheter5678 would you like to explain why? Not trying to be rude just wanna know what you dont see.
That third play where he blocked the ball was also a testiment to his effort too. Most guys would just give up on the play or wait on the perimeter but Chet goes in for the block and possible board again.
Not dying on a play with or without the ball is a good trait to have. The 1% ers.He reads the play well in defence. You have to beat him twice in the same play sometimes & he anticipates & helps a teamate coming over the top.
JJ, this is awesome. The production, the editing, the whole piece. I’d so appreciate a mix of these with the podcast/pod highlights.
Also, I really do mean that I like this. I like the level of production. It’s feel like a documentary, not some over polished piece that lets me know there isn’t much to say. But this is really great.
This vlog style is great! Especially liked the actual video comparisons of other players that these young guys were compared to. It was great for a brief reference and was done with taste. I'm here for it.
Love this vid. I’ve been a OKC fan since 2012 so excited to see the guys grow this season
I love listening to JJ break down basketball on a professional level with super high IQ and has been in locker rooms. It lets us watch an actual person whose been in those situations talk, unlike skip or Stephen A
OKC has done so well rebuilding organically as a franchise, through collecting draft assets that turn into valuable players (ie josh giddey, and soon to be chet)! Excited for their future as a team... it reminds me of my Raptors squad
Super smooth editing. Had great footage for pretty much everything JJ touched on, props
Great format! Loved it, looking forward to more videos like this
Love this! Definitely add more of these types of videos!
Loving the more "video essay" style! would love to see more from JJ outside the POD

No lie , is my favorite video you have ever done. So good man. You’re next level
JJ,
I always look forward to your content and miss watching you knock down that 3 coming off the screen. This offering was well edited and offered your thoughts and eye witness account of OKC's young guns. For your more educated and higher basketball IQ fans of the channel, will you please throw in more technical analysis of how these two can be effective in the league. Coach us up old man. Wish you and your family well.
i love this format so much, i hope jj can do more self-scripted stuff because the descriptions and pace here were top notch
Loved this!!! More videos like this please!!!
This Vlog style scouting report/ opinion piece is so fresh! So much better than just a vlog without any context and much better than just a highlights overdub video
Respect from Portugal!! I dont miss one from yours keep the game alive! By the way u should do more this type of near court vision camera. OKC have a bright future, i feel in 4 years they can be a top 4 contender...

Yeah loved this! Jason you did great!
I like this type of content JJ. Keep it up
JJ Redick I love you and your podcast bro. You're the most unbiased positive commentator/sports caster also in my opinion the most knowledgeable. Don't go anywhere the real ballers out here need you bro!!
Production value on a whole new level
Love the way this video was came out.
YES, more, please! No nonsense insightful analysis like JJ delivers is thin on the ground
JJ, please do more of this format. Video highlights w/ your thoughts in sync. The low-res, throwback effect was a slam dunk.
This is a sick kind of video keep it up guys
This was sick make more vlogs like this!
JJ more of these scouting videos please this is golden content
This was so cool JJ
Definitely want more
J J... you're videos keep maturing. This look, the narrative, the footage... the sense of taking people along with you on your trip, and the honesty, the small details.... i'd say this is the format and direction you should go. most shows are just talking heads, and there's not a lot of this kind of content out there. keep the narrative, journey, honesty, b role stuff going. just hire a few guys to travel with you and create and edit your content. you'll be golden, i promise.
The on-court footage is really neat from these angles.
awesome video i really like this documental type of videos! keep it up !!
We need more of these type of videos and content
I loved this and the marvel reference was amazing 😂

Alex Caruso hyped up JJ’s vocabulary and now he’s mastering the space-time continuum 🧠

Another video please. Great knowledge from a great player, do not get that to often
MORE OF THIS!!! Reminds me of Detail
These videos are really cool

Josh Giddey will be the best pass first point guard in the league very soon. As an Australian i'm excited to see where he, Chet, SGA and the Thunder can get to in the future. Love the video
