Wa `alaykum. If one of the People of the Scripture (i.e. Christians and Jews) greets you saying As-Salaamu `alaykum, then say (to him): And upon you .Reference:Al-Bukhari, cf. Al-Asqalani, Fathul-Bari 11/42, Muslim 4/1705.
      And
Volume 8, Book 74, Number 273: Narrated 'Aisha: A group of Jews came to Allah's Apostle and said, "As-samu 'Alaika " (Death be on you), and I understood it and said to them, "Alaikum AsSamu wa-l-la'na (Death and curse be on you)." Allah's Apostle said, "Be calm!
So, there is no religion in Bible but Islam
Why do you people not believe on last Prophet Muhammad S.A.W?
      DEUTERONOMY 18:18
      WHICH PROPHET?
      SONG OF SOLOMON 5:16
There is Writing Mahmad in Hebrew language
      Number 23:19 Al Quran 112
      God is not man.
We muslims worship to God of Israel and Muhammad PBUH is the last Prophet of YAHUWA َیاھو ALLAH is the unique name of GOD who is lord of the universe. Al Quran is not only for muslims but for whole of humanity. Muslim means submit your wills to your creator. We all are humane being our creator is one. We Muslims follow the way a religion of Abraham bcoz he was neither JEW nor a CHRISTIAN but MUSLIM bcoz he submited his wills to his creator.
So, Accept the religion of ABRAHAM PBUH which is ISLAM so then we muslims will say WA ALAIKUM ASLAAM.

I'm a Christian and in our Bible it says to love thy neighbor which sounds like the Quran , no matter what religion or beliefs we have, we are human, common courtesy shouldn't be something we have to think about. I work with a man of the Muslim faith and I've been studying the language and have the basic words for (hello, goodbye, etc). And I checked to see if was permissible for a non muslim like me to greet my friend in his native tongue. You would have thought I gave him a check for a million dollars. He said I'm the first non muslim to greet him like that and truly appreciated it, I am now proud to call him my best friend, all because I took 10 minutes to learn a little Arabic as a sign of respect.

there is a major si ilarity between salam and 'saam'
    salam = peace
    saam=poison
someof the people of the book (christians and jews) would use this as an opportunity to 'offend' the Prophet (peace be upon him)so they would say " alsaam (poison) aalaykom (be onto you) so that is why there is confusion on this topic, that is when that Prophet (Peace be upon him) would reply "wa aalaykom" = likewise.. but peace is peace! and these days not many non-muslims say salam so spread the message of peace!

In Poland, the person coming into a room has the duty to greet those already in the room.
So the Muslim is obliged, just like everyone else, when coming into a room, to greet those in the room first, or appear discourteous.

i would assume you didnt offend him. as a catholic, we have a similar saying thats used often when greeting people in church; “peace be with you”. if a non-catholic were to say those words to me, i might be a bit surprised, but i would never take offense to someone wishing peace upon me. neither phrase refers directly to God but both do have sentiment to their respective religions so i could see how someone may disagree with me. but if hes a friend of yours, i would hope that if it does bother him he would forgive your ignorance to his belief set and correct what he believes to be your mistake

But when it became clear to him [Ibrahim (Abraham)] that he (his father) is an enemy to Allah, he dissociated himself from him. Verily Ibrahim (Abraham) was Al-Awwah (has fifteen different meanings but the correct one seems to be that he used to invoke Allah with humility, glorify Him and remember Him much), and was forbearing. @Beinghumankush15 Před rokem

The supreme is not different. God has a nirgun form .All Faith's refer to this form (Hindus call it Brahman, omkar, shiv).Muslims refer to this form as Allah .
Manushya is one who is born from the mann ( mind) of shiv ( god). The Bible also says “At first there was the word and the word was God” . The word is nothing but sound of Om in Hindu scriptures. One day the nirgun (ek)(Om,attributeless Brahman, allah) decided to become (anek) sagun .Same omkar, shiv, allah ( nirgun form of Om) manifested as ' Ganesha' ( sagun form). But to manifest anything, you need energy ( Shakti ) which is non-different from god and is always with god ( referred to as divine mother, goddess)
Thus the first premordial sound or word (Omkar ) manifested as the son of Shiv - Shakti. Being the first manifestation ( word om is non-different from God (shiv) ),Ganesha /jesus is pratham pujaniya ( first one to venerate ,son and father are one,not different).
To sustain creation ,same nirgun shiv (eternal sadashiv) manifested as Krishna /Mahavishnu from whom multiple world's were created
In each world ,Mahavishnu further expands as garbodhakshai Vishnu who in turn manifests in each living being and every atom as kshirodakshai Vishnu ( also known as paramatma or parabrahma). To do further creation in each world ,god manifested as Brahma roopa who created stars, planets, all animals and beings in each world.
Lastly all creation must perish after a finite time to begin a new cycle again ,in this form nirgun shiv took sagun roopa as rudra or mahakaal.
Thus Ganesha ,shiv, Vishnu, allah ,ram ,Durga, kali,Krishna are non-different as they are but one and the same supreme soul .
So my advice to you is to understand religion in proper context and do not get swayed away by difference in forms of God thinking one form is superior as compared to other forms
All religions tell the same thing
Islam- means unconditional surrender to will of God
Hinduism- Krishna teaches same to Arjun to unconditionally do his duty without expecting results leaving results or fruits to the will of God
Bible- Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross unconditionally taking it as the will of God.Unconditional Love is what he taught mankind
Sikhisim- Sacrifice of guru nanak is well known for same reason given above.
In each case there is unconditional surrender to the will of divine and tremendous love for humanity and all living beings
This love is the essence of life and humanity.Light is inseparable from god.
Sun,disc of sun, sunrays all appear to have different connotations, but all originate from the same source and hence refer to same divine source and are inseparable
It is the light of God (Noor e illahi) that illuminates all world's and planets and stars.
Sunlight thus is the light of God himself from which all life sustains
Astrology or Jyotish is just a way to realize the light of God (ishwar, eesha). It tells us how to do right karma at right points of time in our lives.

I've noticed in my city a growing Muslim population. When I was young, my father taught me to say "Assalamu Alaikum" to Muslims as it shows proper respect to them. So when I have time to converse with one, I usually start with "Assalamu Alaikum." I once actually got a "Wa ʿalaykumu s-salam", it was nice.
