Don't need to do it each and every time but the fact that you make the effort is appreciated, I as a native English speaker have nothing but respect for migrant people who at least try to learn a little of my language . I've noticed in my city a growing Muslim population. When I was young, my father taught me to say "Assalamu Alaikum" to Muslims as it shows proper respect to them. So when I have time to converse with one, I usually start with "Assalamu Alaikum." I once actually got a "Wa ʿalaykumu s-salam", it was nice.

A stupid with zero knowledge of Buddha and Buddhism.
