I have about 70k on it now; and $15k is roughly what they go for on Bring a Trailer with ~70k miles. Even if I could get what I paid for it though, I wouldn't sell. Far too fun and reliable to consider anything else.

You don’t hear about it because evidently it’s pretty shit (no offense to the OP), gears are way too short so all you get it turbo lag, turbo lag, a split second of power, and then more turbo lag as you inevitably fall out of boost again… Granted a “shit” Miata still makes it more fun than 99% of cars so 🤷😅
@@griffins750 they are pretty mediocre in stock form. I have mine on megasquirt ecu and a couple parts from flyin miata and it's making about 220hp now and it's a rocket. The gearing is short as hell, but you can swap the oem diff for a 3.9 from the 10ae models n that helps a bit.
It is true. There was a fire at the Hiroshima facility during production in 05. They built 4000 of em in 04 and only about 1500 in 2005. Iirc, they only produced 2 colors the first year, titanium gray and velocity red. 2k of each example. They introduced more colors the following year but bc of the fire, the brillant black mica and lava orange are SUPER rare colors and definitely the most desirable when searching for a 2005. Edit: the fire actually happened late 2004, affecting their 2005 production numbers.

Don’t see why they didn’t. left all that room in the engine bay, had a nb1 with 38k miles hardtop and Torsen lsd on bc coilovers and just some rpf1s, sold it for 7 and bought a 2016 sportster 72. Very happy with my trade too my sporty gets me more compliments and I still feel the wind🤙

I just recently bought a 02 mx5 special edition soft top, the guy I bought it from basically made it into a Mazda speed mx5 minus the turbo! It’s such a fun car!
I’m a huge mazdaspeed guy, Mazda guy in general, and i drove one about 2 years ago, they don’t feel the same as a Miata in some weird way, more like an s2000. I hope to add one to the collection eventually. I’ve had a gen 1 speed3, a speed 6, currently have a gen 2 speed 3 making 500whp, and a ND1 Miata. Everyone sleeps on Mazda but they’re one of the few car brands that truly cater to the driving experience. Even my 2021 cx5 can be fun around corners.

The most powerful version of the B series engine is found in the 323 GTR which makes around 207hp from a 1.8l turbo and it's 4wd. Though the rally version of it made around 250hp and it continues to be the most underrated "sporty" cars mazda has ever made.
The NB Mazdaspeed MX5 is known as the NB MX5 SE over here in Australia. Controversial opinion here, but I actually prefer the look of the NB over the NA. The pop ups are cute but I definitely feel the look of the NB is better, almost like a mini viper of sorts.
My MSM has black leather interior. I have so many mods, but a roll bar is a must have. I use a Boss Frog Clearview Maxx which I don't think is made anymore.
