It is though.

Sad fact about 0:40 is that he was suicidal and he died. I saw this in another video's comment. The girls recording were just recording the sunset and happend to capture that

Something tells me that Herny hasn't put the most thought into what, exactly, it is that beavers do. Beavers chew wood to bring down trees. Trees tend to be big and heavy. Big and heavy trees tend to crush and kill beavers who are in the way when they fall. Ergo, when the the tree starts to fall, the beaver wants to make sure that it's out of the way so that the tree doesn't fall on them.
This particular instance may not have involved a big and heavy tree, but that doesn't mean that the survival mechanism is missing, too.
Especially if it hits something on the way down, the root might fly in the opposite direction . Hence the duck.

also, theres like hundreds of people around. its obviously some special event. theres bound to be at least 1 person recording the event the whole time or trying to catch something cool. they were probably already filming the kite and something bad happened.

the professor saying most won't pass their class is something I experienced back in tech school. all she did was tell people to study certain material online and then give us tests on some completely different material. when she said that about low % people passing her class I stood up and asked her "doesn't that say more about your teaching methods and ability than it does about those who fail?". I was dismissed from class on the spot.
It depends though, doesn't it? I mean in general, not in your particular case. When I was in the Army, my job training had a 60% dropout rate, not because the training was particularly bad, it was because the subject matter was complex.
1. Bad teachers are bad.
2. Bad students are bad.
2. Hard subjects are hard.
Combine ingredients in various amounts to create any type of bad outcome.
I dislike teachers who do this. I always feel like they are encouraging you to drop so they don’t have as much work lol. This is why I think a prof or teachers pay should be based on how many people complete their class with a passing grade. Also administrators need to stop encouraging kids to take classes that they’re obviously not smart enough to take. You got some kid licking the door knob as they come in they probably should be taking physics. In my opinion the schools do this to make more money. There is always those few kids that don’t get out past the deadline and they end up paying for class even though they dropped it
@@Noneyabiz001 OK, but who is going to be teaching advanced quantum mechanics? Hardly seems worth it to get the education to learn it and take a teaching position if your not going to get paid because the subject matter is difficult. Seems to me it would encourage the teachers to design their tests and coursework to get the maximum passing grades, regardless if the students actually learned the subject.
@@torinju The fact that the teacher was so butthurt over this that they dismissed op from the class immediately kinda proves it was an ego trip and not that it was a hard class

The reason you may think he is really well sophisticated is because he can still see the blurs, more or less outlines of things he looks at. $600 for cow problem, many ways to solve it, the quickest would be to calculate the amount earned and just subtract it by the costs
Earnings: 1200 + 1600 = 2800
Costs: 900 + 1300 = 2200
Profit: = 600
If we go into debt:
0 - 900 = -900 + 1200 = 300 + (-1300) = -1000 + 1600 = 600
If we started with 900 initially (cash on hand):
900 - 900 = 0 + 1200 = 1200 + (-1300) = -100 + 1600 = 1500 - 900 (our initial investment) = 600
It's wild seeing so many people give different answers. Literally just follow the math. One step a time, just add and subtract. Like.. dang, man.
There was a $100 dollar loss after the second purchase, making total profit $500.
@@WizardsBastard no there was no loss. The next investment was just higher, not the same thing. 600 profit. Think of it as 2 transactions
Or just subtract your before value from your after value.
@@WizardsBastard It's 600.

Okay, so the math at @25:00 goes like this:
Bought a cow at 900, so -$900.
Sold it for 1200, so -$900 + $1200 = +$300
Bought it AGAIN for $1300, so +$300 - $1300 = -$1000
Sound it again for $1600, so -$1000 + $1600 = $600.

Okay so for the Cow Math thing, the $600 seems wrong, but it's right. If you write it out like a ledger for an account, say you start out with $2000. Then you subtract $900 for the first purchase leaving you with $1100. Then add $1200 from the first sale to get $2300. Then the 2nd purchase costs $1300 so you go down to $1000. Then the 2nd sale adds $1600 leaving you with $2600. The net gain between the beginning and end of the transaction ledger is $600.
The way it's written makes it FEEL like a trap... but it's not. It's actually just really simple math and I feel a little silly having put this much effort into verifying that yes, 300+300=600 lol

It's a trick question. It asks "how much did I earn". The operative word being "earned". You're not wrong, but only if the question is "what was my total profit". There are multiple definitions of profit that can assumed from a hypothetical scenario.
There can be a transactional profit and balance based profit and if balance, who’s balance? Like for example how is the person getting their money? Is it even their money? If it belongs all to the individual who is preparing the transactions just like a linear point graph, then 600 is a fair assessment. Go guys🎉
For the money calculation. You go 900 dollar in debt, but once you sell the cow for 1200, you are up 300. If you buy it again for 1300 you go down the 300 to neutral again, before going 1000 dollar in debt. Sell it for 1600 then you take the 1000 from it to go to the neutral and then you are left with 600 dollars. The question is, if you think you sold it for a good price at 1200 dollars, what makes you think buying it again is a good deal? Of you had kept out that middle person and went straight to the second buyer you could have sold your 900 dollar cow for 1600 dollar and made 100 dollar more profit. Or buy a second cow from the person who sold you that first cow before going over to the second buyer.
Maybe the second person took better care of the cow than you did, so it was healthier and more valuable after they took it from you. You were essentially selling them a sick cow's worth of low-grade beef and they turned it into a healthy heifer of a dairy cow.
Im bad at math but isn't it 200$ of profit since in the question he says he buys it again for 1300$. So isn't it just buying it from the same guy so he payed 100$ more for the same cow so in the end THE cow was worth 900$ sold it for 1200$ but then could've sold it for 1600$ so he took it back for 1300$ (I know it would end up being a loss of a 100$) taking him to -100$ +1600$ = 1500$ since he bought it for 1300$ it's 1500$ - 1300$ = 200$
Tell me if i'm crazy.
@@MEOW_1312 its 600 in profit, to start off you're at a neutral position so its 0, you haven't made a profit and you haven't spent anything either, then you spend 900 so its 0 - 900 = -900, you then sell for 1200 so it becomes -900 + 1200 = 300 so you've made 300 in profit. that's the first transaction done, so now you're up 300 then you buy it for 1300 which turns into 300 - 1300 = -1000, so you are down 1000 and then sell it for 1600 so it then becomes -1000 + 1600 = 600, so in the end you are up 600 in profit.
the smart play from then on is to buy from the first seller and sell to the second buyer since hell be paying 900 per cow and selling it for 1600 instead of 1200 which means he will be making 700 in profit right away
0 -900 = -900 +1200 = 300 - 1300 = -1000 + 1600 = 600 he made $600 Do the math with a calculator.
Easiest way to work it out is total outlays = $2200 total income $2800. $600 profit. I think people are getting tripped up because the sale price increases by $400 between the 2 sales not $300.

"Let me find sandpaper real quick" 😄😄
it's funny because sandpaper would make his hands smooth not rough
Cow math is not hard:
Starting amount x, then we have
x - 900 + 1200 - 1300 + 1600
= x - 2200 + 2800
= x + 600
So the difference from starting amount to end amount is 600, which is our profit.

- 900 purchase = 100
+1200 for sale = 1300
-1300 for purchase = 0
+1600 for sale
a 600 dollar difference from your starting budget.

They then sell it for $1600... so they have $2600.
So they would have $600 profit.
Reality:
It's a cow. They probably spend a fair amount transporting the cow around, and feeding it.
Also Reality:
It's a post from a psuedo-stocks trading account... they're trying to convince people to buy the stuff. But eventually someone is left with a 'cow' that nobody else wants.
The Con:
Convince someone that they can sell it for more, so it's fine to buy it for more.
So you keep buying and selling with that person to ramp the price up.
Eventually, stop buying it from them and now they have to find someone else to sell it to... because you just walked away with their life's savings.
The Lesson:
Stocks are a gamble, but in theory the company could buy them back... so they are always of some value.
But if it doesn't have anything physical to back them up, it only has value so long as you can convince someone it does.
I could sell my 5th born child for a billion... but that contract only has value so long as someone believes I will have 5 children. (Insider tip, I don't even have a first child yet. So never mind thinking there will ever be a fifth. If someone tries to sell my 5th child, it's a scam.)
I don't think it matters how much money the person would have at the start. He made 1200 bucks from a cow he bought at 900, so he had a profit of $300. But then he bought it again for 1300 bucks, so now instead of having $300 profit, he had $100 damages. But by selling the cow again, he has another $300 profit, which if you remove the $100 damages, results in 200 bucks profit 🤔
Yet, another Reality problem: The seller got greedy. Another buyer had shown their willingness to pay $1600 for a cow, but just a few minutes later, after the cow was sold out. Now… The same person bought the cow for $1200 AND then sold it for $1300. Don't think it would be a thing IRL. If someone buys something, they likely need it right now (or even yesterday, in many cases). It took some time, and fuel, for the buyer to come over to the seller's farm. So, I see the first buyer going, “Na-ah. That's mine now. Find another cow…” And now, the seller needs to find **another** cow, buy it, and spend **their** time and fuel, to sell another cow to the second buyer (IF they still want it all those days later). Such an unproductive business model, SMH…
@@astrathegreek4942 you wouldnt calculate the repurchase as if you where buying it at loss. You are simply buying a second asset, if the example was regarding first buying a cow for 900 selling for 1200 and then buying a big for 1300 and selling for 1600 you would say that the profit is 600$, it doesnt matter that its the same cow in this example
@@astrathegreek4942 That is why I had to break it down to step by step. I was originally thinking he only made $300 profit... by using short cuts in thinking. But, if you take it step by step then you see what actually happens.
For example, if he buys a truck for $700 and then sells the truck for $900... he made a profit of $200. (Ignoring transportation costs.)
Then he goes and buys a camper van for $1200... and sells that for $1500. He makes $300 on that sale. (Ignoring costs.)
However, what if before any of this purchasing... he has only $800. Buying the truck leaves him with $100... selling it, he has only $1000. So he fails to buy the camper van because he didn't make enough money to actually buy it. He needed to start with at least $1000 before buying the truck, to be able to buy the camper van.
So yes, starting funds matter. Even if he uses debt to purchase it, that just lets him go into the negatives.
----
Let's start him with $0, and use debt.
He goes to -$700 to get the truck. Sells it to get back up to +$200. Goes to -$1000 to buy the camper van. Then sells it to be at +$500. Easily see that through multiple transactions, he made a profit of $500.
---
As for the $100 in damages. Where does that come from? He bought something at a set price. He didn't actually lose money.
In the long run, it doesn't matter if he is buying the same cow back... or goes back to where he got the first cow to buy a new one. He is buying inventory to sell to someone else.
He would only incur damages if he sold the cow, then realized he wanted the cow for himself and bought it back. Then he lost money, because he had to pay more to get it back.
But once he sold the cow for even more... the damages were recovered. And no one suffered damages. (Unless you consider that the second guy he sold the cow to could have gotten a lower price if the middle-man hadn't already sold the cow elsewhere and had to buy it back to be able to sell it again.)
@@kreddyfruger7905 Actually, it happens regularly. Buying something with the intent to resell it. Then the person who they bought it from comes back, offering a slight profit to them.
So... in this case, the farmer had two options:
1) Keep the cow. Feed it to plump it up. Risk medical expenses if it gets sick or injured. Deal with shipping it wherever it would be going.
2) Sell it back to the guy and make $100 profit right now. Then find another cow-seller that is probably selling one for about $1200 as well.
A lot of companies will take that reliable profit now, rather than be stubborn and hold on for likely the same profit margin later. I mean, they only just bought the cow.
Now... if there were no other cows on the market at the time, then it might be better to keep the cow. But we are talking about a cow-shiller here... the farmer probably bought the cow because the guy sweet talked him and the price was basically market value. Not that the farmer actually needed or wanted the cow, just sucked in by the silver tongue.
So people are getting seven hundred by doing math bad. -900 and +1600 is 700 difference but they forget,
In the middle he sold for 1200 and bought for 1300 that's -100 so +700 and -100 is still total net profit of 600.
He made 2 sales and each one made him 300, he couldn't make more than 600 total.
The first 300 profit is negated by the second buy and ends in a 100 loss. The second sale then negates that loss and nets a total 300 profit.
It's $500.
Made $300. on the first sale. Then lost $100. on the buy back. Net profit is now $200. from the first deal. Sold it for $1600. a $300. profit.
$200. and $300 is $500
you can also just find total money he has at the end, then subtract total costs. At the end of the day he had $1600. What did he spend to make that $1600? First off the $900 from the original purchase. His second purchase he had some money, but had to spend an extra $100. That means he spent $1000 total. $1600 - $1000 = $600.
@@fauxque5057 Guys...the second buy negates the first sale, it completely removes the first profit. It doesn't exist, you can't add it.
If you spend the first part of the profit, it's no longer profit. At the end he has 300 more than he initially had, I would argue.
Kind of telling on myself, but before I ever saw the word euthanasia on paper, I thought people were saying "Youth in Asia" I didn't understand why young Asians were being associated with death, I just figured it was racist. After seeing it on paper, I just felt stupid.
I was young, but it taught me a valuable lesson. Whenever you see someone being stupid, you were just as about something once too, be patent with them. Maybe not as stupid as I was... Point remains.
omg henry and Jeannie, such a funny video again , really well done and thank you both 😊😍
25:08 $600 is the right answer. There are a few ways to think about it.
The easiest is to imagine it like an account. You start with $900 which you then spend on the cow. Now your account is at $0. Then you sell the cow for $1200, which becomes your new balance. Then you purchase the cow for $1300, which puts your account at -$100. The final sale of the cow at $1600 puts your account at $1500. Subtract the $900 initial investment and you are left with $600.
You can do it the way a lot of businesses do it and start with $0. After the $900 purchase, you are at a loss of -$900. After the first sale, you are at -$900 + $1200 = $300. Then you purchase again and are at $300 - $1300 = -$1000. After the last sale you are at -$1000 + $1600 = $600.
You can also just treat this as 2 separate sales. In the first, you make a purchase of $900 and sell at $1200 for a profit of $300. Then the second transaction is a purchase of $1300 and a sale of $1600 for another $300 profit. $300 + $300 = $600.
The problem the comments who got $700 are having is they forget the $100 loss in the middle when they sold for $1200 and purchase for $1300. So they should be doing $1600 - $900 - $100 to get $600. That middle sale and purchase combo is important information.
re: "Subtract the $900 initial investment and you are left with $600."
That is bad math. Your final total is 600 (i.e. final - initial = 1500 - 900 = 600).
re: "700"
There is no info about a loan or credit in the problem, so we should assume all purchase funds came from the buyer. That includes the extra 100 out of his own pocket that was needed to make the 2nd purchase at 1300 (i.e. 1200+100).
The cost of the cow is 900 and regularly anything over that would be profit, however he bought it again for 1300 after selling for 1200, meaning he spent in total 1000 throughout the exchange thus deduct the end profit of 1600 by 1000
Buy for 900 sell for 1200. Profit 300. Buy for 1300 which means had to add 100. Profit now 200. Sold for 1600. Profit now 500. Simples.
You start with $900 and sell for $1200. You now have $1200. Up $300. Buy for $1300 you are now down $100 from the $1200. So if you start here with $-100 and sell for $1600 you are at $1500. Subtract the original $900 and you are left with $600 profit.
The way I see it, which might be wrong.
I bought a cow for $900.
...
...
I sold it for $1600.
So, a profit of $700.
Transactions in between the first and final don't matter, but I'm bad at math and deduction.
Yes, 600
@@jbrou123 The intermediate transactions do matter, because in step 3 you have to spend an additional $100 of your own money to afford the higher price of the cow, so your profit is only $600 in the end.
I live in virginia Beach and it was my friends dad's boss that drove off of the pier. Crazy to see local clips on mxr
The answer is he made $600 profit.
He invests 900 to buy a cow that he can resell for 1200. 1200 - 900 = 300 profit.
He invests 1300 to buy a cow that he can resell for 1600. 1600 - 1300 = 300 profit.
Even though he had to come up with another 100 to add to his 1200 to have enough to make the 2nd investment, it doesn't say that he borrowed the 100 or that he had to repay it, so we have to assume that he had another 100 available to use for the 2nd cow purchase. Had he borrowed 100 & had to repay it, then his profit would be 500 (i.e. 600-100).
That's the tricky part of the riddle. People think they have to subtract $100 from the profits, but that's nonsense :)
@@melanp4698 You are right. It is wrong to subtract 100 from the profit of the 1st sale because 100 more is needed to rebuy the cow for 1300, since the gross proceeds from the first sale is only 1200. Given there is no info about a loan or credit offered, that additional 100 must be provided by the buyer out of his own pocket.
The cow answer is 600 profit. 900 and 1300 purchase is 2200 out and sell price of 1200 and 1600 is 2800 in. The difference is 600 profit.
He uses $1000 of his own money and gets $1600 back. So he made $600.
25:07 You have to view each transaction seperately.
First you get 1200 for your cow, while that cost you 900, so he earn 300.
Next transactions, doesn't matter if it is the same cow at all, gets you 1600 while costing 1300, which is another 300 profit.
Congratulations, you made 2 purchases, 2 sells and earned 600 in profit total.
If you purchase an item for $100 more than what you sold it for, that difference cannot be considered profit.
@@WizardsBastard I do taxes for a living, that is considered profit. Believe me or not, that is how it works.
@@ZethisVA You are correct in that aspect, definitely. Though my bank account would show me $500 profit.
@@WizardsBastard It's still 600 on your account... just do the math. -900+1200-1300+1600=600
its just 600 because if you buy it for 900 now you have -900 then you sell it for 1200 now you have 300 buy it again for 1300 then sell it for a 300 dollar profit but you already had 300 so 300+300=600 25:32
you spent 100 dollars buying it again, that's why its 500. But the question is weirdly worded, so its hard to say wether its asking for the total amount of money earned or the amount of money earned including what was spent.
@@savodrooney-gordon2675 I can't believe so many people are so stupid not to realize this fact.. .. made 300 profit than lost 100 and then made another 300 = 500
you bought it for 900 then sold it for 1200 but than turned around and bought it again for 100 more than you sold it so you lost 100
@@Farreach think of it as two different transactions and it makes sense. You buy a cow for 900 and sell it for 1200. Then you buy a pig for 1300 and sell it for 1600. At the end of the day you farmers market hustle gave you 600$ profit. People gets confused because its the same cow. Total money out of pocket when you do the second transaction is 1000$ (900 for the first purschase then 100$ for the second) and you sell if for 1600
@@Farreach With that logic, he also bought it for negative 900 money. Where did they come from? Magic? We can easily surmise that he had both the 900 and 1300 already. The 100 extra money does not affect any previous earnings, they're unrelated transactions.
The cow owner lost $4,700.
He made a $600 profit on the cow itself. But he had to feed the cow. He had to build a paddock for the cow. He had to build an eve for the cow when it rained. But the cow got sick so he had to call the vet. And the vet overcharged him for the special medication. And when all said and done, he lost $4,700. Welcome to dairy farming.
