  • There's a lot you can do with your fancy Apple iPhone, but it's surprisingly difficult to record a conversation. Until you learn about the slick and remarkably useful Rev Call Recorder. By using its own recording system and having you merge your phone call with its service, you can instant, high quality recordings of any phone call for free. Even better, if you need a transcript, it's just a tap away (though the transcript service does have a modest fee associated with it).
    In this detailed demo and review, tech expert Dave Taylor of www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ explains how Rev Call Recorder works and demonstrates, step by step, how to set up and record a call, then get a transcript emailed a few minutes later.
    Check it out in the Apple App Store or at www.rev.com/

    Thanks! Very helpful I’ll paid for the transcript and I guess I was thinking I would get it instantly.

    Amazing service! Is extremely cheap and knowing all the tools they provide their employees makes me think a transcription will be delivered it as expected. I'll check it up and see if they have the services in other languages as well.

    Dave, how many people can be on the call at once? Is it only for two-person calls or could you have up to four on the calls? I'm looking at doing some oral history.

      Hi Sarah. I'd check with Rev.com directly, they'll have the latest capabilities of their transcript system!

    On your demo, the merge is seamless. However, when I tried it, it said, "the call is being recorded" and was clearly heard by all parties on the call. Is this a default feature?

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před 3 lety

      That might have changed since my demo, Ina. I didn't edit anything like that out. You might ask Rev customer service to see what they say. Also, I believe the laws about recording notification might vary on a per-state basis in the USA.

      I have no idea. I would check with the company to find out how it works in India!

    I can’t get the recorder to record behind 8 minutes and 20 seconds.

      @@AskDaveTaylor I am not. It’s happened with multiple calls. I have to restart rev recorder if I want to get the conversation beyond 8:20. I’ve contacted rev recorder twice. No response.

    I’m looking for instructions on an incoming call.. this didn’t address that🤔

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před 2 lety +1

      Because you can't legally do it. The easiest workaround: Use a separate device as a recorder and put your phone on "speaker" to record it.

    How do you get an audio file of the call?

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před 4 lety

      Double check with the company, but I believe that they automatically email you the audio as an attachment along with the transcript. Been a while since I used the service, however, so, as I suggested, check with Rev to be sure.

    Australia doesn't allow recording on phones as standard. Yet it is legal to protect yourself against criminal activity by recording. What does that tell you about Australia. Nutty, right?

    On Android phones you just dial your number and tap record.

      I'm more than a bit skeptical about this claim. Can you please point me to a tutorial on a credible site (like android.com) that explains how this works?

    What about incoming calls?

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před 4 lety

      You'd have to call them back. No modern smartphone system allows you to just record phone calls, so ya gotta jump through a hoop or two.

      TapACall Pro. Still have to merge the call with another but you can do it for incoming calls. The app will show you how it's done. It's a paid app though

      And... you can't buy Xiaomi products in the USA so it's not really an answer for my primary audience. Plus it's illegal to automatically record without notifying the other party in most states of the USA and undoubtedly all of the EU.

      @@AskDaveTaylor Yes well USA sucks when it comes to phones and carriers and subscriptions... you can still buy these outside USA though...
      Well you said; no modern smartphone system allows to just record, and I say that’s not right :)
      Good, im from Norway and not part of your audience then 👍🏻
      Who cares what is illegal or legal.. In EU we have also something called personal use and to not share.

    how to record intrance call is not treat in your video

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před rokem

      I believe you're asking about incoming calls. You are correct that they cannot be recorded with this approach but there are lots of laws about recording phone calls that constrain app developers. If nothing else, you can always put an incoming call on speakerphone and use a second device to record the conversation.
