    I have a 2017 Vulcan s I'm glad it came with the gear indicator or that would have been my first mod. I put the boosterplug on mine and you are right it makes a world of difference for such an easy installation. My next mod will be an exhaust from delkevic and DNA air filter. That should take care of the performance and sound that I want. I couldn't agree more with the seat! I commute an hour to work and by the time I get there I'm ready to get off the bike. I have just about every 22 mods you covered (in your other video). I'd suggest a (proper) LED headlight bulb upgrade over the expensive Kawasaki LED light bar. I have both and they make a difference! Disappointed that you didn't mention the exceptional Arrow Exhaust as a "must have" upgrade. It is a wonderful mod and really makes reduces weight, increases ground clearance, improves the sound and improves performance.

    i think if you feel the need for the windshield, you should probably consider a chopper, not a sport cruiser. I think cruisers are a lot about cool looks, among other things. Also, I think if you need a gear indicator in order to avoid taking off in 5th or 6th, you might want an automatic car.

    I'm torn between the Vulcan S & Vulcan 900. But, if I get the S, i've got some mods in mind...
    First of all, I'd start w/your list. Pretty much right down the line.
    But, I'd add (in no way in order of priority):
    1. a tail bag (because the Vulcan's trunk is tiny!) :-)
    2. radiator cover/protector (because...rocks!)
    3. crash bars (because...idiots on the road!)
    4. perhaps in lieu of a lightbar, I'd just upgrade the headlight to a super-figgin'-bright (solo) headlight. (because...I wanna see!)
    5. strobing tail-lights like an ambulance (because...I wanna be seen)
    for my honorable mention...I'd get rid of any chrome I could. it does nothing for me that I want done!
    I'd probably go with a list like this for any bike I get, actually.
    Thanks for the video, my friend.
    Cheers!

    • @SickMetalAddict
      @SickMetalAddict Před 4 lety

      The deal breaker in my opinion is that the Vulcan 900 doesn't have ABS brakes, not even as an option. Another thing to consider is that the Vulcan 900 doesn't have a tachometer, you'd have to add it as an accessory from Kawasaki's Store. I'm not experienced in bikes yet, but this is just the research I did. Maybe someone more experienced can elaborate as to whether ABS is a must have spec on a bike?

    • @just-dl
      @just-dl Před 4 lety

      @@SickMetalAddict I'm in the same boat as you. Leaning more towards the 900, now. ABS is one of those things that I wouldn't mind having, but, wouldn't pay extra for. But, like you, I'd like to hear from people with more riding experience on that topic.

  • @GasWorksISO

    I bought the same windshield for mine and really hated it at first. It took quite a few hundred miles with it before I got used to the change in noise and buffeting. I can’t say I like it now, but I think it has its place. In town I still prefer leaving it off, but yeah, it’s nice on longer rides.

    • @trippontwowheels
      @trippontwowheels  Před 5 lety

      I've got the Kawasaki Quick Release on mine. For everyday riding and just around town I prefer to have the windshield off, but if I'm going out of the interstate or going to ride for more than an hour, I definitely want that thing in front of me breaking the wind. I couldn't imagine riding cross country for hours at a time without it.

    Vulcan S mods:
    1. 2 Brothers exhaust. I heard one on a Ninja 650.i5 made it sound like a cruise with decent pipes. The Vulcan S has the same motor, sooo...
    2. I'd change out those ugly-ass mirrors. Probably Kuryakyn convex mirrors.
    3. Kuryakyn pegs and grips. They look great and Kuryakyn pegs keep you bike's sides from dragging on the ground 2hen you drop it.
    4. Probably the same tuner you have. I love equipment that's less costly and does the same job as the big name brand (and yes, I'm aware of the irony in that statement considering my love for Kuryakyn parts.)
    5. I'd add a speaker system/USB port/phone holder combo.
    I'm surprised the seat is so uncomfortable. The stock Vulcan 900C seat is the most comfortable one I've ever been on. The good idea fairy went overboard I guess.

    I will be taking my motorcycle safety course in the next month or two, and I've already chosen Vulcan s as my first bike. I've sat on it at multiple showrooms already I'm really digging how it feels. The two main concerns I constantly hear from Vulcan s owners is the seat discomfort and the engine braking. I figured I will probably have to replace the seat in a few thousand miles when it starts bother me, but I didn't know there was anything we could do about engine braking. And as far as the booster plug, I've heard good things about them. You'll have to keep us updated on how it affects your mileage. That would be the biggest selling point for me. Also, other things I would add would be a passenger seat for my wife and some hard bags for her to keep all her crap in. 🤣

As far as hard bags or cases go, I recommend the Givi 33L Trekker cases that I have on my VS. Very roomy, sturdy, lockable and they unlatch with the press of one button so you can take them with you. Thanks for the great video(s). Im taking my basic safety course soon and have identified this as 1 of the two bikes im considering. Ive seen videos on this bike where a bolt is removed that limits throttle travel, Have you don this? Also, Ive seen another where they have removed an electronic efm doodad from under the seat that Kawasaki puts on to limit/modify the fuel management to lower performance, apparently for safety reasons. I was concerned about this in lieu of the aftermarket electronic fuel management system you have.

      A gear position indicator and a tachometer are not the same thing. One tells you what gear you're in (1,2,3,4,5 or 6) and the other tells you your engine's RPM (revolutions per minute).

    Don't get the factory windshield that is over priced and not as effective as a good after market windshield, which will also be half the price and better protection. The muffler is crap too. It sound like a sewing machine. Open that puppy up with an after market muffler and let it breath!!
    But...A gear shift indicator? Really? If you need a gear indicator, you probably shouldn't be riding. I don't know about you, but when I come to stop, I down shift before I stop so I'm always in 1st gear and ready to take off without having to figure out what gear I'm in. And riding in town, you should be able to figure out what gear you're in by the sound of the engine (that's the reason you need to hear your engine and get used to when to shift) Next, you'll want a tachometer like most noobs. If I rode a bike by going by a tachometer, I'd quit riding.
    Just having to look down at your gauges all the time, for a gear shift indicator or tachometer to see how fast your engines running, takes your eyes off the road which is a big no no, especially if you are just learning how to ride.
