When only one computer has slow internet

- All my other devices had fast internet by for some reason my PC was download much slower than others.
On your network connections, go to properties, the advanced tab and change the wireless mode. I watched other videos but none I saw recommended this. I actually don't know how I ended trying this but it worked.
If this doesn't work, some of the solutions other people did that made it work.

I switched between Dual band 802.11a/b/g and 802.11a/b. While switching fixed the problem, it wasn't permanent and the speed dropped after 2 minutes or so. I finally ended up restarting my modem and calling my Internet provider which resolved the problem. Oddly my phones weren't affected and it was only my PC and my laptop.

What did it for me was going into the adapter settings and putting the tick for IPv6 and then magically i went from 15mbps to 800mbps.
Years and Years of being on wireless internet 2 gaming PC later and this is the only thing that has shown actual results a whole 6 years of just dealing with slow internet I will test it on some games and see if it actually fixed but so far looking good thank you so much
Holy shit, this literally quadrupled my internet connection, i was getting over 1k ping on games and now its back to the normal sub 20. This is an insane trick, sending this video to all my friends. Thank you my man.

I need to do use some different setting as having Windows 11 Lenovo laptop. putting steps for others.
control panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Centre -> Change adaptor settings
right click "WiFi" for properties -> select "Client for Microsoft Networks" & then click "Configure" if any warning pops-up click yes
Now on "Advanced" tab select property "802.11a/b/g Wireless Mode" and change it's value (on right side list item) select option 1 "1. 5GHz 802.11a" and press OK
old value was set to "6. Dual Band 802.11a/b/g"
Fixed my issue. I was getting 20 mbps on my pc while everything in the house is super fast. Now I'm over 200 mbps on the PC after changing this setting. Thank you for this

I don’t see wireless mode but instead of changing anything in the property tab I changed the value tab to 5ghz 802.11a and it made my speed go from 1.2mbps to 9MB/s 😅 Got me to the right place, thank you

Basically, you're changing the which Wi-Fi channel you computer is using so it will have less interference with other devices and a cleaner signal.

50 is slow........ what country are you in, that is above average in australia and most people struggle to even hit 100mbps, that is like top tier.

Variant... I got better speed but had to use a different route... I did not have WIFI, only Ethernet, so at that point I right clicked Ethernet, Properties, configure, advanced, here I picked... Speed and Duplex, and changed 100 Mbps Half Duplex to Auto Negotiation. My speed went from 27 mbps Down, to 107, and from 3.7mbps Up, to 390. Great improvements.... thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction.... I added this comment so other people with similar situations might be able to tweak your procedures.... :)

This worked for me but then the speed immediately dropped back down then I tried out a different setting then it worked. So if you’re having issues with this just try out all of the settings before you give up
UNDER-RATED VIDEO!!!!!!!!! I just got fiber with Frontier and less than 24 hours the downloads were slow asf. Ran speed tests to modem, then to my computers and that was all fine, but the issue was still happening. Checked for apps or any programs running in the background and nothing. CZcams was buffering to load videos at 240p....this one change FINALLY, I'm streaming 1080p HD and no buffering. Now I'm going to go check and see if my games will play without lagging out... THANK YOU SO MUCH....someone at Frontier was about to have a bad day.

As soon as I changed the settings, all the networks disappeared so I changed it back to auto. Maybe it works but isn't just the right settings for me. worth the try though

For the people that don't have this option in your WIFI adaptors, this won't work. For those who do have it; follow instructions of the video until 0:57 , if you have a 5ghz WiFi frequency then select the 5Ghz Wireless mode and change the value of it to IEEE 802.11a/n/ac/ax, for those of you who use 2.4Ghz, select 2.4 Ghz Wireless mode change the value of it to IEEE 801.11b/g/n/ax and that's it. If your WiFi doesn't have 2 different channels dedicated to 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz, separate it as it also helped me a ton, It's different for each Router and broadband provider so ask them regrading it. Hope this helps!

It worked. I can't believe this. I've been struggling with a connection stuck at 3-5 mbps. In the beginning of getting my network card, it was giving me 20 mbps on steam while downloading games, and it was insanely fast to me. And then at some point it went down to a crawl suddenly one day. I'm guessing a Windows update changed my settings somehow. Either way, I'm back to glorious speeds again. Can't thank you enough, sir.
FINALLY! Christ I've been suffering 3mbps download and terrible ping for the past few months when I KNOW my wifi is much better, my friends were making fun of me for my terrible ping on csgo and I was straight up on the verge of gaining anger issues because of how BAD my ping was. After this quick switch my download speed is up to 200mbps, I am so grateful you made this vid, and so pi##ed I never figured this out earlier... 😭💙

i found after 1 year of inconsistent internet high ping spikes but good internet i found that turning off roaming aggressiveness in the advanced configure tab worked and gave me consistent good ping

Superb thanks! I recently discovered my pc was getting less than a ¼ of the speed. I was about to a clean install and seen this. Cancelled the clean boot and changed this setting and boom. Full speed. This is on windows 11 in 2024 so still works 👌👍
