Israeli Settlers in the Occupied West Bank

  • “Why would an Israeli Jew choose to live in the West Bank?”
That’s the question that motivates writer Wajahat Ali to travel to Israel in a new documentary from The Atlantic. Ali, who has been critical of Israel, embarks on a personal quest to understand the perspectives of some of the 400,000 Israeli Jews who live in the occupied territory in defiance of international law-and to hear from the Palestinians who oppose them.
In his travels through the West Bank, Ali visits the family of a Palestinian terrorist, ventures into the heart of one of the most radical settlements, and speaks to the leader of an NGO focused on creating a dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians.

This all started during WWI. The British were desperate against the Germans. The Zionist Jewish leadership (not all Jews) made a deal with the British that they would help bring America into the war and help fund the British war effort. In 1917, government official Arthur Balfour wrote a letter to Lord Rothschild, a Jewish lord, saying they would support a Jewish homeland in Palestine and to let the Zionist organization know that Britain would support it. Problem was at that time, the population was 92% Palestinian Arab. Of course, so many of the Arabs have been ethnic cleansed and kicked out.

Weird, I'm the same. I didn't know much about this mess before Hamas attacked Israel the other day.
And from what I've watched and researched, including this same video as you - I have concluded that freeing Palestine will involve deporting the Jews, and achieving a free and peaceful state of Israel will involve deporting the Muslims (a wonderful example of the failure that is multiculturalism, as the West is just beginning to feel: But that's another story...)
Anyway, I have concluded that Jews were there first thousands of years ago, and for the last 700-Years have suffered serious oppression (whether of not worse than current Palestinians are suffering is not my point) My point is Christians have the Vatican, Muslims have Mecca; is it so much to ask for Jews to have the Temple Mount?
As for Hamas + Gaza, I cannot invision any good or legitimate claims they can make following their actions.
But still, I have seen Muslim street parties + celebrations in London, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam, etc. - They aren't simply chanting 'Free Palestine' as you put it - If I even write what the Muslims chant I'll get banned for life.
Maybe your research can take you to "Raja Casablanca FC Fans singing about Palestine" - Then you may feel a tinge of symathy, understanding and even support for Israel's treatment of Palestinians + creation of Settlements. It doesn't make it the right thing to do, but it is understandable given the murderous hordes that will be on their doorstep, showing absolutely NO mercy given half a chance - As Hamas highlights in the extreme.

For example, with Spain, you just have to proof your ancestors were part of the former Spanish Empire so Latin American immigrants are not technically counted as Immigrants after 2 years.

When I was a teen and young man I believed everything I saw on the news and what was taught in school. As a middle aged man I have learned that almost everything I ever knew about the world is either a lie, backwards, or only 1% of a bigger back story. For example Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, turns out they never did. In the 80s America made friends and allies with the Taliban to fight the evil empire of Russia in Afghanistan, turns out we funded, armed and trained Osama. There were just a few savage native indians in America when the colonist arrived so the land was open for the taking, turns out there were millions of natives in north america and they werent all savages who killed each other. The entire west coast natives were some of the most peaceful natives you could come across yet they were killed for their lands. Genocide was acceptable because of greed. And there is so much more...

All of Israel is settlements in the Palestinian backyard. In 1880 there was a 3% Jewish population, and 95% Arab/Palestinian. Then the mass immigration of Jews came in. And now they control everything, how can anyone be sympathetic to Israelis when they invaded and have been committing genocide on the Palestinian people for over 100 years. But Israel has a killer Public Relations network, to obfuscate the ethnic cleansing they are perpetrating. They wanted these attacks to take place, so they have an excuse to wipe out more Palestinians and annex more land. Far easier to kill and take over, then try to force them out.

The letter then called on Blinken to work with Israel and Egypt, clearly state which materials are allowed into the Gaza Strip, and review the efficacy of the so-called Gaza Reconstruction Mechanism agreement.
The US lawmakers said Israel “selectively bans materials that it considers having 'dual use' - any item it claims could have a military application.”
They also condemned Israel's restriction of Gaza's fishing zone as a form of collective punishment.
“Although the restriction was recently reversed, the decision to collectively punish the people of Gaza by unilaterally restricting its fishing zone remains extremely concerning,” said the letter, urging Blinken “to work with the Israeli regime to refrain from such harmful and illegal actions.”

The problem I see here's that both the parties are holding onto their past and wants to get back there. Some wants to go back 70 years and some wants to go back 2000 years ago. Neither of this going to work, you can't even get back to yesterday... So please accept the reality of today and keep your strong identity towards religion away and see this with humanity first approach. Then and only then things will change for better.

After so many years of fighting and bloodshed is not realistic to say that the two parties can live peacefully together. All that happened during these terrible years of living next to each other, created a big trauma. The political and economic propaganda plays also a big role This is a big dilemma and both sides have their rights. The problem is that as long they don't find a suitable solution for everybody, more and more people will be killed. That land is drained in blood even from ancient times!

Even earlier than that, during the Balfour declaration, many Jewish members of Parliament were against the creation of a loyal little Jewish ulster that would keep the region in check from the Arabs if they were to be brave enough to challenge British rule; the most notable was MP Montague who was a stern rod against the fake Jews (zionists)...... Israel was created after the agreed colonisation by the British imperialists AND THEN THAT COLONISATION MORPHED INTO THE FALSEHOOD THAT ISRAEL IS THE HOLY LAND

Well done~!! I seem to always think of Palestinians and Israelis as two 'groups' with 'group think" yet there is so much diversity of views within each group. This video really shows this. In a lot of circumstances, family say, we find it hard to get even two or three members to agree on everything. How much harder for a situation like this when there are millions of viewpoints~? Wish we could all wake up oblivious to our 'identities' one day and just live our lives collectively. Basic structure of society is important it seems for things to work better for everyone, but politics is very damning. When will humans learn~? Edit: "There is no way to peace. Peace is the way."
