We’ve camped with our kids as soon as they could walk. I still do backcountry canoe trips with my daughter and have a big one planned in August. Sadly my son is now living on the either side of the country, but anytime spent with your kid, in nature, is time well spent. Nice video.

Awesome to see you out in the new rig. So much fun slippin into camp spots by water. Traditional gear is awesome but you gotta go light weight if you're hikin. Gotta get out in my own boat soon 😎👍🏻

the happiest memories of my life were wild camping and hiking with my dad and my mom as a child but as a teen I wasn't interested, wish I could turn back time I miss my dad so much he passed when I just turned 20. Now as an adult and mother I am making the same wonderful memories with my son, he is little still not interested at the start of every trip but then enjoys himself so much in the end. This what it means quality bonding time. Thank you for sharing ❤️🌟
A lovely camp out with the Bushwacker man, Hope you have an awesome summer Becky, you'll get that J stroke down in no time. I usually sat on the front seat , stern first when out solo, helped the canoe sit level. Love seeing you out enjoying life, take care Becky, be safe and enjoy life to the fullest.

I love Ray Mears and his programmes and he's a major contributor to why I like spending time in the outdoors. Don't know why I was slightly surprised when I heard you mention him, I shouldn't be, as all of his work is out there for all to see. Just remembered that I've seen stuff, that people have made, that was done before I was born..., it's all falling into place.

I love tea-lite candles..... have many in my pack..... keeps me warm on my hunts .....squatting, wrapped in my blanket with a tea-lite between my feet in very cold temps has created many good memories.....good video
3 tea-lites under a pot does NOT boil water but it sure does heat it up!!!.... no fuss no mess... gets stuff up to about 190 degrees fahrenheit or so...yup.....y'all sure had a good outing

... These will be great fun series ... After past video showing canoe ,, was looking forward to see what would come .... And as a the wonderful daughter you are ,, you allow Bushwacker Man to be on a first paddle voyage,, but you know gear will be heavy ,,as he prefers traditional gear (perfectly acceptable when canoe trekking without too many portages )... and much of that will be REAL foods ...
.. Simple tarp set ups can be great fun as long as minimal bugs on a warm outing ...
... Some other sources of canoe instruction on video to check out are : Path of the Paddle by Bill Mason......both on Still Water and White Water ,, excellent video's .....and others even by same name ... ... I viewed these in my own beginnings of canoeing and respect them highly ...that was many years ago on VHS.......... You will love it ,,on rivers and calm lakes ...so much fun and relaxation...
.. The knitted Beanie some call a "Toque" ,,(Tuuke....Took)........ over the ears only ,, usually called a Headband ....

Just a couple of things that you probably know already about paddling solo..First thing…Sit in the front seat facing backwards when you’re going solo and Second… Fill a thirty litre dry bag full of water and put it inside a second dry bag and place it at the other end of your canoe so as to help trim your boat. You need to trim your canoe to stop the wind catching the front of it and blowing you down wind. A great book to look out for is…”Path of the Paddle” by Bill Mason. Probably one of the best books out there on the subject. It’s very old but you might find a copy on eBay. Anyway happy paddling and stay safe🙂

Greetings from Canada. One of the easiest ways of controlling a canoe is using a double bladed paddle like a kayak. If you ever get a chance a canoe trip through Algonquin Park would be a experience that you would never forget.
A lovely spot sadly spoilt somewhat by scorched earth spots in the grass/ground 😒

Seeing you using the canoe yourself, I was just about to say Ray Mears did a brill video on it and you mentioned it. Mr Mears is definitely a legend and boy can he manoeuvre a canoe. Great video mate...bet dad was toasty in his setup

@@graeme5060 Yes Graham...i saw that one. Thanks to that man, it gave me the passion to get out there again and enjoy the woods again. Too old and painful for ground dwelling, but the hammock has given me the chance to carry on what I'm doing when the chance arises. ATB buddy

ray mears is amazing outdoorsman. I always love the videos shot thier across from the Abby. looked like dad slepted in a bit. watching a few of Jake videos seems like a good guy with good content. you took some epic spots with the drone. have you thought about taking some professional courses on videography and turning it into a career with national geographic or discovery channel type documentaries? you tube n Paterson has been great to you but curious what's next? As always keep going Into The Wild!!!!!!!

Your paddles are very short. Usually you’d have them so if you stand up straight, with tip of the blade on the ground, the handle would be around mouth or nose level.
