- With new party screen animations comes a new inconsequential thing for me to put into a tier list...and upset people by doing so. As is tradition.

Seeing how each Archon's animation reflects their personality, it makes sense for Zhongli's animation to be simple and stoic, just like the CEO of GEO

I actually find Zhongli's animation very fitting his personality. He's not a flashy archon, why should he have a flashy animation.
Someone should make a tierlist of how much the animation fits the character rather than how much of a show they put up. Because in two to three days, most of us forget about these animations altogether. You don't even get to see them if you use the quick setup.
That's what i felt too! I just can't see him showing off much now but maybe when he was in his prime he would've done something cool like the other archons :D

I think simpler animations fit some of these characters better. Just like other people have also added, Alhaitham is a good example of this. Are his ingame animations flashy? Yes. But is he a flashy person? Not so much. In fact I think it was very in character for him to put aside his book and stand there looking ready to ask you "So when are we going?"(considering one of his party joining lines is "How long will this require, exactly?" I find it somewhat funny). I could make the same case for Diluc and Zhongli(though I understand why people wanted flashier stuff in Zhongli's case)
I will say though, if I were to change one, I'd make Itto's have Ushi in it, simply because Ushi is too adorable to leave out. Otherwise, I think most of them fit well enough.
Yeah, I think Itto's was the only one that was both a little underwhelming *and* didn't fit the character.

Yes surprised he metioned it in zhongli but not the other archons, everyone gets an aura element like they are stronger and Nahida flowers on the floor

Xiao's is, by far, my favorite animation. It's very fitting for his character, and the pose is also similar to the drip artwork. He doesn't need a flashy entrance, he's never _had_ a flashy entrance; he just shows up, and he's all business (except for when it's not business and it's just us asking him to taste-test Xiangling's cooking). We also don't get enough love for his left side, we tend to see his right side a lot, but not so much his left.
It's also why I don't have a least favorite animation, everyone's animations are spot on for their characters, and some of them reference their respective drip artworks.
Have Xinqiu drop a huge ton of books off screen and as he attempts to pick them up he notices you and tries to save face by striking a pose.
My favorite part of Xiangling's animation is Guoba ready to throw hands Kung Fu Panda style
As you noticed with Bennett, most of the animations are currently idles or skills.
Why? Because Hoyo did only introduce a few fresh animations and hopefully will update at least all 5* stars in the future as well to have their own animations.
Or just care more about future 5 stars to sell them more
It was only mentioned that Ayaka used a modified version of her skill but theres a few characters who used modified versions of pre existing animations like Tighnari reusing his idle for example

I really wished zhonglis rock thing flew around him after his animation ended it would be so cool
So I’m biased bc my favorite character has a super cool animation, but I kinda like that there are some shorter, simpler ones too. I feel like if every character had a Hu Tao or a Childe, it would just be a bit much
At least they should make every character with a summon or transformation show it, sad that Sara doesn't show her wings, fischl oz, kokomi jellyfish, itto cow etc

instead of Zhongli just standing there menacingly, I'd love for his animation to be him using his hold skill but instead of a pillar spawning, a throne rises behind him and he sits there with his Statue of the Seven pose
Tbf I think Alhaitham pose suits him, yea it's boring because he is bored, he is totally not interested in picking him up for any task the guy wants to be kept in the shadows unbothered and reading some books.

Venti’s animation has to be my favorite! You’re right, it just captures his essence so perfectly. Also, I’d love to watch a video on “if the anemo archon was released today”
+ this video also made me notice Klee’s name bounce up and down when she shows off dodoco and that’s undebatably THE cutest thing i’ve ever seen
It would be a lot more fun if Bennett "bursted in". Oz could be flying into frame and then turn into Fischl, while he stays behind her. Xiangling's is perfect, 100/10. Although is unlikely, I hope they add more animations in the future
1. I was expecting more from Dehya give her something TT^TT.
2. Xianling jumping in with a side flip was cool af.
3. I love Nahida she just jumps in ready for action.
I don't understand why people are getting mad over these. Like they're party entry animation for crying out loud like an action equivalent would walking into a crowd or entering a room, you're not gonna get a whole animated cutscene for it and all of them are perfectly tailored to the characters
5:52 It's a Jitte, which translates as "ten hands" and was a standard issue police baton used mainly during the Edo-period
Wanderers is my favorite (paired with his "this had better be important" voice line), with Zhongli, Raiden and Beidou tied for last (it's all the same animation just with different attitudes). I got the impression Lynney, Lynette, Wanderer, Xangling, Nahida, Kokomi, Hu Tao, and Yao Yao had the most amount of effort in designing them. I wouldn't be surprised if they were some of the first ones they worked on and then ran out of steam as they went. There is an adage "done is better than perfect" that was drilled into my brain in art school and I sorta get that impression with the new animations.
Nobody wants to admit it but Gouba and Xiangling takes the crown
Can we just appreciate that the party screen background matches each character's region? It's these small things that really make your amazing editing shine, Ratheil.

Favorite overall: Wanderer
I think Zhongli's animation is a perfect fit for his personality, how elegant slow turn and being the oldest, it makes him look very wise too.
I noticed Beidou’s pose is from the cutscene where we ride on her ship.
my brain tricked me, i was read "where we ride her on ship" 💀🙏
i really wish that for some of them, they kept their cool pose within the animation instead of switching into a more generic one. i would’ve loved to see gorou keep that pose having thrown out the doggy general, and have yao yao keep the adorable pose with yuegui and have her wobble a little trying to stay balanced. i think some characters benefit from having something more simple, but a lot of them feel like they just lacked the time to come up with new, fun animations (which is likely the case).
Travelers was def underwhelming wish their was more to them
I do rlly love Xianglings and Sayu doing flips BC its satisfying and smooth to me
I can't say I hate any but if I had a least favorite it would have to be yunjins BC its just one of her attack animations

I'm thinking onmatched world exploration like floating and superjumping, a kit that actually revolves around music (like HoS from honkai but with instruments?) and swirlllll!!!

I would say that Zhongli is disappointing even though I know it fits his personality. Even his trailer shows his cool side.
Xiangling is the most surprising because of her back flip so she's in the top 3 for me.
My favourite is definitely the cute and graceful Nahida, followed by Raiden Shogun.
The one that really disappointed me was Zhongli. You see if it was any other character i wouldn't have minded but Zhongli is a character that is known for having the best animations and cutscenes in the game. They could have done so much with him like perhaps he comes in with his charged attack or something like that.
The one that surprised me the most was XL. I didn't expect Guoba to be there but I like the creativity.
My favourite animation has to be Nahida. The way she comes in a swing and does a twirl while her eyes were gleaming was so good.

As an animator, all of them are atleast an A or B, each of them are unique to their character's personality.
Flashy/"wow" animation =/= good animation

I saw someone say they wish Traveler had different entrances for each element, and I agree! Like for Anemo she, sorry, They do the knights of favonius salute like in the Klee event.

And to answer your inquiry yes a very similar animation is present as one of Chongyun's idles 💙 As someone who mains him gotta say, really enjoy this animation a lot and how they have him hold the pose rather than relax as he does in his idle.

my personal opinion:
as long as the animation is ON BRAND with the character's personality and how they behave story-wise (not lore-wise e.g: beidou defeating haishan or sumthin), it's great. and some of them don't even need to do anything to look elegant. i get what alot of ppl expected, like flashy animation, alot of movements, and a use of props. but the thing is... this is not apex legends, guys. get over it 🙏

Disappointed the most: Yoimiya (haha wow fireworks yippie :))) seriously tho, i'd be more happy if they just bring her idle animation where she's playing a little firework)

Eula’s animation just feels weird to me
She does a spin… without taking any step
It’s a hard floor, not an ice floor, and she shouldn’t be spinning weightlessly like that, holding a claymore
You don't actually need a step to spin: the force that makes you spin comes from your torso's torsion. The step comes in if you are already moving so that you can transfer your momentum from your motion to your torsion, just like when you jump after a sprint to go higher.

Just to add, when eula attacks she's really fast and elegant with the claymore so the weightlessness fits.

Most disappointing for me was Kirara, she could had jumped on screen from her box form. Most surprising would be Keqing's as the teleport is actually really satisfying to see, not to mention you can actually see her throw the thing before she teleports. And my favorite is Hu Tao's, she simply had the best animation in my opinion lol.
Chongyun's is exactly like Benny: it's an idle animation. Honestly his is the only one I've seen in my roster that disappoints me, and I don't even play Chongyun. Feelsbad for the Chongyun mains 😔
At the end of everything, though, these are party select animations and I think the short succinct animations are the best. We don't need to spend 84 years in party select. I actually like how they've taken animations for certain people from their character trailers. Like, animations that otherwise wouldn't be used in game via idle/attack kit animations.
IMO Keqing's is among the best. It's SO smooth 10/10
xiangling the pyro, polearm and party screen animation archon all at the same time
All the budget than should went into xingqiu and alhaitham went to our 6 star xiangling (and guoba)
Most dissapointing for me were Alhaitham and Xingqiu. Their animation is so boring and even if you couod say well Xingqiu is a 4 star that isn't an excuse cause most 4 stars have a good one. Most surprising was Xiangling. The flip was really unexpected. My favourite is without a doubt Ventis. When he plays the lyre it's just so relaxing and satisfying. When you said you find kazuhas a little awkward cause it feels like an animation is missing, that's my feeling with Mikas one. Idkw but the way he just abruptly pulls out his crossbow after he was just sereningly reading really feels like I missed a part.
Not gonna lie Noelle's animation is so humble and loveable definitely my favorite 4* animation

I actually love xingqius. The fancy stance he, the way he closes the book. Suits him as a fancy nerd. Wouldn't say it's the best but I enjoy it a lot
Diluc and Kaeya's dissapointed me So much... I Love them both to pieces but it's so incredibly dissapointing because both of their Party screen animations are so similar to their idle animations.
Diluc could do something cool with calling his bird and having it perch on his arm or something like a "Dark night hero" entrance or ready his Claymore.
Kaeya could do a cool sword trick since his sword work is so pretty, or have one of his icicles surround him, or adjusting his eyepatch or doing other coin tricks like rolling it between his fingers, or just any other movement that wasnt the same as his idle animation.
I mean for yelan they would need to create extra endings with diff dice and the animation would be needed stitched together in real time when getting random number or just creating 6 animations with diff number in the end
As a Venti fan, the "what if Venti's released today" video idea sounds really interesting ngl
I really hope Furinas is her rushing in with a crate and quickly standing on it to strike a proud confident pose.
ps. Biggest Disagree has got to be Chongyun. Think the character love brought up there... somehow.

Hu Tao and Yoimiya have my favorite animations! Both animations suit the characters really well while being visually fun and engaging! Yoimiya’s animation being cheery and fun with fireworks like Yoimiya is, and Hu Tao’s animation being silly, goofy and adorable like she is :D
Alternative title: Hating on every Introverted Characters' Party Screen Animation and somewhat being semi-hyped for the Extroverted ones'.
Like dude, my boy Xingqiu's animation is so elegant and you just straight up put him in the F tier for not jumping from the top of the Everest mountain then does a Spiderman pose while carrying his own Mary Janes? Really.
alhaitham would've been S-tier if he came with the chair.

i think what gets the most points out of me are whether they include relevant objects and whether the end pose is cool

It would be cool to see what characters could be like if released today. I heard people saying that Aloy could include her spear if she released today since Mika has the crossbow

I would like to thank you for actually showing the full animation and not cutting of their feet. Never thought that it would be so annoying to not see the full picture because I wanted to reanimate one of these but the feet where not showing
