I think Kazuha got bonus points because of how much his design breaks from the norm of element dictating colour scheme. It makes him stand out a lot more and he sticks in the mind because of it. Something similar could be said for Yunjin, and I think she falls short because she doesn't fit with geo as much as kazuha fits anemo. Even without the colours, the flowing designs and leaves on Kazuha still invoke anemo, whereas Yunjin doesn't have anything that says geo other than her vision itself.
I feel like if they added more gems onto Yun Jin's outfit, instead of soft-looking pom-poms and tassels, that would've tied her more into Geo element, despite being so colorful. Though I guess that wouldn't be correct for "classic Chinese opera" look that she represents (I don't know much about it).
@@R41NII Diona still feels decently cryo to me with her primarily pastel colour scheme. Colours as pale as hers are only really ever seen in cryo characters, so even if she isn't a pale blue, she's still got light enough colours that she reads as cryo compared to any other element.
I gotta speak up for some of those “worst” designs - it seems some people confuse what is good design with what is fashionable. I think Razor and Bennett look exactly like what they are- a young wolfish boy from the woods still unfamiliar with human society, and a boy raised by his guild, always ready for the next adventure. Their designs suit who/what they are- that’s good design.
I think Razor's design is mostly fine, but it kinda loses it with his long hair going through his hooded cloak. Sure, having an opening there for the hair is possible, but doesn't look good. It's like Mihoyo wanted to both have him with a hood and have him with long hair down his back. It just doesn't work.

I didn't see Kujou Sara and I think her design (regardless of her personality) is very telling and showcases a lot of her backstory. From her tengu mask to the Tenryou comission symbols and even some army details. A very good design overall, in my opinion.
I'm kind of surprised Venti wasn't on here. I love the light greens and whites of his outfit contrasting with his dark hair, and how he is one of the few playable characters in Mondstadt to actually look European. Also the teal highlights in his braids are a YES for me :)

ikr, chongyun is so underrated, i love him so much😭 he has arguably one of the prettiest eyes in genshin, and his clothes match his character so much. he himself is cute and perfect
One thing I have to say I really love about Xiao's design is the placement of his vision. He has it around his wrist which no other character has had. It's usually on a character's hip, around their neck or on their shoulder. His vision placement is like a watch or something like an Infinity stone and being both a fan of Ben 10 and Marvel I just can't help but like it. Also any character with a battle mask gets additional points in my book.
An interesting thing about Kazuha is that when you look on one side, his outfit is white but on the other side his outfit is black. I think the white could represent his positive thinking and the black could represent his dark past. But if you look at him from the front, both white and black can be seen. Probably representing the way Kazuha is trying to ignore the past and focus on the future, like we learnt in the golden apple archipelago event.
i was expecting venti to make at least top twenty. his design looks so cheerful and free, and his little braids and hat with the cecilia flower (what are those types of hats called help) are just chef’s kisses. personally top five for me
Omg I know right? Venti in my opinion is the perfect Archon design. His design both embodies the spirit of Anemo and Mondstadt perfectly while also looking very interesting and appealing. Meanwhile Raiden's design doesn't do any of that and for some reason she's in the top 3

I was honestly kind of surprised that Childe wasn’t in the top 20, I know that a lot of people don’t like his character very much but I always thought he had a super cool design! Other than that, taking these polls are really fun to do, and it’s so cool seeing other peoples opinions on Genshin characters designs!
I'm actually sad he's not in the top 20. I think because people don't like him in playstyle/personality that they become bias based off those two. Personally I actually love his design, but then again he is my favorite character 😅

I prefer character designs that tell a story about the character. I like Ei’s because of the juxtaposition of the two sides of her design, Miko’s because of the shrine maiden outfit, Kokomi’s because of the mermaid tail, and Sara’s because of all the tengu imagery. I think inazuma does a really great job of showing who a character is just through their designs.
True with that you said, but this video is talking about visual designs not character designs that matches their personality/lore. But I also love the designs with the character you mentioned.
I like that most inazuma character’s color palette are darker colors (e.g kujou sara, kuki shinobu, itto, heizou) it really goes well with the overall inazuma background.
I'm starting to think that Kazuha stans are like "our boi is THE BEST in every way possible" and just vote him #1 in in every survey without thinking. He is my favorite as well but....have at least some objectiveness guys. But maybe I'm wrong, who knows
I think him being number one may have to do with that, but his design is objectively amazing. His outfit, like the ones of most characters from Inazuma, has references to Japanese culture hidden within it in a way that looks beautifully coherent: from his haori being tucked away on the side of his dominant hand to facilitate combat, the leg guards on his shins, the traditional geta on his feet and the single piece of armor on his left shoulder, reminding us of him being a ronin always ready for battle despite his gentle disposition. I think his design is one of the most - if not the most - beautifully executed in the game so far, especially when it comes to tying the character’s personality with their outfit. The red maple leaf pattern present all over his attire and the soft hues of red and orange really bear a lot more meaning once you understand him as a character. The red maple leaf being tied to his backstory of loss and growth, symbolising him coming to terms with the death of his friend and ultimately finding balance and being at peace with himself, with nature and with the people around him. I, as well as many other people, feel like his design can not only be appreciated from a merely aesthetic standpoint from people who may not know his backstory too well, but also from a more in-depth perspective that includes how it all ties to his personality and life events. Not to mention, I think the color palette of his overall design is very easy on the eyes, which could also be a reason for him ranking so high.

Honestly even if I agree with Raiden and Kazuha being in the top 3 I don't buy the community voting because they think the design was top tier, let's not forget that Raiden was called an NPC before Inazuma and Kazuha a Aether skin.

Pretty much my only gripe with a Genshin character design is with Yelan's outfit. It looks alright in an image, but when she's moving around the coat looks like it's glued to her shoulders. It would look soo much better and more natural if Yelan just wore the jacket, but other than the coat she looks super mature and pretty
Poor Diona. I personally find her design adorable and fairly fitting, especially because she has a vision on her shaker! Im honestly surprised Ganyu or even Lisa weren’t on there
Yeah, Diona gets no love. She carried my ass through so many boss fights. Diona is at least honest with her brashness and dislike of people. The more popular characters do the same but cover it up. Being open and honest is in short supply these days.
A little surprised Lisa didnt make the list at all. Her design is very elegant and intricate. Lots of details and it fits her really well as well as the purple/gold/white color scheme contrasting perfectly. Also one of the more creative places for a vision to be shown rather than "slap it on the hip"
Just as an example I personally love chongyun, noelle, thoma and gorou's designs my best way to describe it is that they are comfortable to look at like pleasant and not too over the top designs and they work well with the characters personalities i think lol
Not my boy Xingqiu! I love his colour palette of dark blue, white and gold, it works really well together. And although his shorts are rather controversial, I think it fit his character quite well! He wears a more formal top to represent his background and casual shorts to represent his more carefree nature. (Plus he reminds me of Khun from ToG)
Xingqiu's is my favorite. The blue to black gradient gives the impression of a deep body of water. The frills not only give a hint to his social standing, but also bring to mind a waterfall or wave crashing. His hair and the shape of his clothes also give the impression of him being constantly wet, which I think is genius I think the shorts look cute, but more importantly, they give the impression that he's someone light on his feet, which highlights his more adventurous side. I think this is important to contrast the elegance of his upper design, which could give the impression of someone who doesn't do much physical activity I realize I used "impression" way too much :p
I'm a Kazuha main. He's my favorite character gameplay, story & personality wise but his design has honestly never been that great imo. Also, I'm baffled that Mona didn't make the list...

Yeah I didn't like most of the women designs in this list ngl. Shenhe and Yelan are some of my least favourite designs. Yoimiya, Kokomi, Ayaka and Ei are deserved though.
I think Venti should have been high. the color coordination, his hat... how his archon wings transfer into his cape, the cecilia matching the bards, etc etc

Their designs had a bit longer to grow, considering they're expies of Raiden Mei and (Yae) Sakura from _Honkai Impact 3rd_ (or _GunGirlZ_ , I think they were both in that too. I know Mei was). In addition to all their battlesuits, each battlesuit also has its own unique costumes with a different look. Ei and Miko are somewhat visually different from their predecessors, but the inspiration is very easy to see.

WHY IS DIONA SO LOW?! She has everything. The cat ears and tail, the flowers, the pink hair, the little boots, the hat, the paw-shaped bag. Why don't people like her design? It suits her very well.
As I said to someone else, people just don't like that she's brash and honest. Humans enjoy being lied to by a pretty face. Note: I've used Diona to tank boss fights before getting Zhongli and Noelle. I still use her to this day.

kazuha doesn’t deserve it, people are overrating him too much. they’re voting for him because his playstyle is good which the poll isn’t even about. it’s about their visual design and i wouldn’t even put him in top 20😐he looks like a 4 star character, his design is so messy yet bland at the same time, he looks so a-symmetrical it makes my head hurt, and i’m not even gonna start with his stiff lookin ponytail. he’s supposed to be a samurai but ended up looking basic. even a lot of 4 star charas looks better than him, for example shinobu, heizou, yunjin, lisa, fischl, and more. kokomi, yae miko, and ei deserved the top 3 spot. let’s be honest, no one would care about kazuha if his kit wasn’t good just like on his first release, people just became more biased bc of meta reasons. also, i’m surprised that ayato wasn’t even in top 20, i would replace yelan with ayato. i never liked yelan’s design either, it’s like the same situation as kazuha, people liked her because she’s meta, i remember everyone hating on her design when she was first leaked.

Unpopular opinion but Yelan's design is horrendous. I just think her overall outfit makes no sense, and not in a fashionable way--her hair isn't even the problem. Then again, Venti is my fave and somehow a lot of people hate his shorts. I also like Xingqiu. Characters I do agree are great tho are Kokomi, Kazuha and Yun Jin.

I know this only involves playable characters, but I'm curious which voice language the community thinks sounds best for each character. Like, do they like Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or English better for each individual character?
it would be so interesting but i dont think most people know what the other languages sound like besides the one they play in except if theyve seen some clips so i think it would mostly turn into people picking the languages they play in or maybe picking something different because of a couple clips theyve seen for some of the characters

it would be interesting but people in the western community are HEAVILY biased towards japanese and english. literally no one would vote for chinese and korean, when chinese is the original language. i personally think chinese is the best for every character bc the characterisation is *perfect* but unfortunately, people don't give it a try.

Noooo Xingqiu 😭 I love absolutely everything about Xingqiu. The coat, the hair, the tassel earring and multiple other tassels, the ruffles, the teal, the gold embellishments… and like can we take a moment to appreciate the button up boots????? Like true story of when I started playing Genshin Impact: a friend told me about the game and showed Ayaka because she knew I’d like her dress, and really I loved her design, deciding I’d start playing and main Ayaya, and I decided I wanted to play _exclusively_ girl characters. I started looking at a few Ayaka guides (before even starting to play, imagine the dedication lol) and saw you needed to run a hydro with her. And for the first time, my eyes landed on Xingqiu. I fell in love with him literally. He is just so beautiful. For him I made an exception to my girls only rule. To this day I still am a Xingqiu simp, and he still is my favourite husbando, even if a few other came along (hehe Scara, Xiao, Albedo) and apart for those 4 the only two other male characters allowed to join my parties are Venti and Heizou. Xingqiu’s design and personality I just love, and I am so sad to see he always ranks so low in those… I guess like that I can keep him for myself hehe

An interesting thing about Kazuha is that when you look on one side, his outfit is white but on the other side his outfit is black. I think the white could represent his positive thinking and the black could represent his dark past. But if you look at him from the front, both white and black can be seen. Probably representing the way Kazuha is trying to ignore the past and focus on the future, like we learnt in the golden apple archipelago event.

I was honestly kind of surprised that Childe wasn’t in the top 20, I know that a lot of people don’t like his character very much but I always thought he had a super cool design! Other than that, taking these polls are really fun to do, and it’s so cool seeing other peoples opinions on Genshin characters designs!

I prefer character designs that tell a story about the character. I like Ei’s because of the juxtaposition of the two sides of her design, Miko’s because of the shrine maiden outfit, Kokomi’s because of the mermaid tail, and Sara’s because of all the tengu imagery. I think inazuma does a really great job of showing who a character is just through their designs.

I like that most inazuma character’s color palette are darker colors (e.g kujou sara, kuki shinobu, itto, heizou) it really goes well with the overall inazuma background.

I'm starting to think that Kazuha stans are like "our boi is THE BEST in every way possible" and just vote him #1 in in every survey without thinking. He is my favorite as well but....have at least some objectiveness guys. But maybe I'm wrong, who knows
I think him being number one may have to do with that, but his design is objectively amazing.
His outfit, like the ones of most characters from Inazuma, has references to Japanese culture hidden within it in a way that looks beautifully coherent: from his haori being tucked away on the side of his dominant hand to facilitate combat, the leg guards on his shins, the traditional geta on his feet and the single piece of armor on his left shoulder, reminding us of him being a ronin always ready for battle despite his gentle disposition.
I think his design is one of the most - if not the most - beautifully executed in the game so far, especially when it comes to tying the character’s personality with their outfit. The red maple leaf pattern present all over his attire and the soft hues of red and orange really bear a lot more meaning once you understand him as a character. The red maple leaf being tied to his backstory of loss and growth, symbolising him coming to terms with the death of his friend and ultimately finding balance and being at peace with himself, with nature and with the people around him.
I, as well as many other people, feel like his design can not only be appreciated from a merely aesthetic standpoint from people who may not know his backstory too well, but also from a more in-depth perspective that includes how it all ties to his personality and life events.
Not to mention, I think the color palette of his overall design is very easy on the eyes, which could also be a reason for him ranking so high.
Same with Kokomi and Raiden mains. Both of the designs are so overrated.

Jean's design is so underrated. She looks regal and powerful, and the shoes and coat are literally show stopping.
Pretty much my only gripe with a Genshin character design is with Yelan's outfit.
It looks alright in an image, but when she's moving around the coat looks like it's glued to her shoulders. It would look soo much better and more natural if Yelan just wore the jacket, but other than the coat she looks super mature and pretty

A little surprised Lisa didnt make the list at all. Her design is very elegant and intricate. Lots of details and it fits her really well as well as the purple/gold/white color scheme contrasting perfectly. Also one of the more creative places for a vision to be shown rather than "slap it on the hip"

Just as an example I personally love chongyun, noelle, thoma and gorou's designs my best way to describe it is that they are comfortable to look at like pleasant and not too over the top designs and they work well with the characters personalities i think lol

I love his colour palette of dark blue, white and gold, it works really well together. And although his shorts are rather controversial, I think it fit his character quite well! He wears a more formal top to represent his background and casual shorts to represent his more carefree nature. (Plus he reminds me of Khun from ToG)
Xingqiu's is my favorite. The blue to black gradient gives the impression of a deep body of water. The frills not only give a hint to his social standing, but also bring to mind a waterfall or wave crashing. His hair and the shape of his clothes also give the impression of him being constantly wet, which I think is genius
I think the shorts look cute, but more importantly, they give the impression that he's someone light on his feet, which highlights his more adventurous side. I think this is important to contrast the elegance of his upper design, which could give the impression of someone who doesn't do much physical activity

miko and ei's designs are 10/10's they are one of the few characters who's hair doesn't look weird
Their designs had a bit longer to grow, considering they're expies of Raiden Mei and (Yae) Sakura from _Honkai Impact 3rd_ (or _GunGirlZ_ , I think they were both in that too. I know Mei was). In addition to all their battlesuits, each battlesuit also has its own unique costumes with a different look. Ei and Miko are somewhat visually different from their predecessors, but the inspiration is very easy to see.

kazuha doesn’t deserve it, people are overrating him too much. they’re voting for him because his playstyle is good which the poll isn’t even about. it’s about their visual design and i wouldn’t even put him in top 20😐he looks like a 4 star character, his design is so messy yet bland at the same time, he looks so a-symmetrical it makes my head hurt, and i’m not even gonna start with his stiff lookin ponytail. he’s supposed to be a samurai but ended up looking basic. even a lot of 4 star charas looks better than him, for example shinobu, heizou, yunjin, lisa, fischl, and more. kokomi, yae miko, and ei deserved the top 3 spot. let’s be honest, no one would care about kazuha if his kit wasn’t good just like on his first release, people just became more biased bc of meta reasons.

it would be so interesting but i dont think most people know what the other languages sound like besides the one they play in except if theyve seen some clips so i think it would mostly turn into people picking the languages they play in or maybe picking something different because of a couple clips theyve seen for some of the characters

I love absolutely everything about Xingqiu. The coat, the hair, the tassel earring and multiple other tassels, the ruffles, the teal, the gold embellishments… and like can we take a moment to appreciate the button up boots?????
Like true story of when I started playing Genshin Impact: a friend told me about the game and showed Ayaka because she knew I’d like her dress, and really I loved her design, deciding I’d start playing and main Ayaya, and I decided I wanted to play _exclusively_ girl characters. I started looking at a few Ayaka guides (before even starting to play, imagine the dedication lol) and saw you needed to run a hydro with her. And for the first time, my eyes landed on Xingqiu. I fell in love with him literally. He is just so beautiful. For him I made an exception to my girls only rule.
To this day I still am a Xingqiu simp, and he still is my favourite husbando, even if a few other came along (hehe Scara, Xiao, Albedo) and apart for those 4 the only two other male characters allowed to join my parties are Venti and Heizou.
Xingqiu’s design and personality I just love, and I am so sad to see he always ranks so low in those… I guess like that I can keep him for myself hehe
