I met him before a show. I couldn’t believe that they were playing in my hometown... (population of 2,000)
I was invited by the venue to come help set up for the show. I told jimbo that I am also a bassist, and we shot the shit for probably fifteen minutes... he let me play the bass that he is showing in this video.
Those strings he uses are really strange, they are super soft to the touch. I ended up ordering a set for myself, they make practicing a lot less abrasive on the hands.
      Dudes a total sweetheart.

Jimbo is probably my favourite upright bass player.

They stopped by in the small town I live in last year. He had just got the bass that he is showing in this video. I helped set up the venue for their show. Jimbo let me play around on that exact bass for a while after setup was done.
He is an exceptionally nice guy.
I just realized while watching this that I have the exact Same mxr bass preamp pedal, it’s a very very useful preamp.

Two pre-amps on the bass and two more on the pedal board. Gotta love the voodoo of trying to get an upright bass to sound like you want :-)

Interesting choice of strings, thinking of trying them ,not sure how the skateboard wheel helps keeping it balanced though lol

the wheel doesn't keep anything balanced, end pins tend to dig into stages and create ruts, the rubber tips don't last very long either, so the skateboard wheel keeps it from digging into stuff but still makes it easy to essentially drag around the stage without causing any damage.

Good to see your strings are at the correct height, too many imitation plastic wannabebillies have the bridge either shaved down or they push the bridge further down the body bringing the strings closer to the fingerboard, making it sound like a couple of sticks with no depth, just click click click! and they think they can play fast like this???? LMAO!
