I don’t get why they thought his take was so bad. Let’s say you take someone like prime lebron and you put him on the wrist shooting team in the league and then the next year they revamp the team and then they turn into one of the best shooting teams in the league. As a result of that his percentages go back up and his assist numbers do as well. That doesn’t mean that he was worse or when he got shooters he got better that just means the team fit his playstyle more. Same goes for if you throw ai in this era. No doubt if you throw ai in this era he would be way more efficient than he was back then but that’s not a result of him getting better that’s a result of the spacing on the floor and less bigs being in the paint. More points would equal more wins (assuming his teammates defense was the same as it was in his career), more wins could in turn lead to more championships( not saying it’s guaranteed) , more championships and better numbers that he would average due to the spacing would in turn put lebron above a ton of people in the all time ranking list in turn making him a “better player”. What if bron went 10-0 in finals or 7-3 (he’s 4-6 so 10 finals appearances) because he had shooters, and what if he still averaged 5 less points with 5 more assists. He would have 10 finals mvps (assuming history repeats itself since he is 4 for 4 in finals mvps then people would say he’s clearly better than Michael Jordan. That would make him a better player. Because lebron is a bucket everytime assuming nobody drops to help double team him and if his teammates can shoot then that’s an assist every time because he is one of the greatest passers of all time. But even without the 7 or 10 finals mvps he still would have at least 4 with more rings, he would be above top 4 in assists( he’s there now pretty sure) , he would still be in top 5 scoring because of longevity, he would probably play for longer because he wouldn’t have to go as hard as he did because he would have help, he would objectively be a better player.

You’re basing “better” on accolades, accomplishments, and all time lists, the guy in the video and the one who replied above is basing “better” on skill set and ability. Lebron’s skill set did not get better in the hypothetical he stated, he was the same level of passer, scorer, etc, he’s just in a better system. He as a player still had the same tools though, he didn’t just magically just become better ability wise, that’s what I believe they mean when they say he isn’t better.

Athleticism is way more than max vertical leap lol. Westbrook, Harden and Curry all technically have similar max vertical leaps based on the draft combine yet Westbrook is way more athletic.

I don’t believe in the notion Bill magically makes his teammates better like Sam Jones averaging 25 or KC or Havlicek being great two way players they deserve credit too and that should not be held against Wilt
