When my brother-in-law was in hospice hospital, he had been in a coma for days, no response to anyone, the end could happen at any time. My sister hadn't left his side but had their adult son bring in their dog of many years. When Bert arrived and saw his 'dad' who he hadn't seen for weeks, lying in the bed, he got so excited and started to bark. My brother-in-law's eyes flew open and he said, "Bert..." That was his last utterance.

My father had Alzheimer’s and aphasia. He could not talk anymore so we were told. Brought my Weimaraner to visit him one day and Lo and behold, my dad said something like ‘pretty girl’. His eyes would lit up when he was with my dog. Dogs are God’s blessings to mankind

My mom has dementia. I sure wish she had a Cake she could cuddle and be with...and it would help my dad, her caregiver, as well.

That's amazing that Cake's "Papa" seems to remember her. Even if he gets to the point where he doesn't remember ever owning her, I don't think he'll ever stop enjoying visits he gets from her. Some connections we have with others, whether they're human or not, are unbreakable and unforgettable.

I called my Grandpa Papa and he also was in the military over 10 years ago he died from a stroke.

Bonds with animals often transcend the issues we face.. Always treat your animals well.
NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON A DOG. They are Angels that work so hard to be kind & serve the disabled, the military, the police, drug trafficking, Emergency Issues & emotionaly support. It takes a human about one year to be potty trained. But with puppies, people can be very cruel & impatient. Love is not about what the dog can do for you, it is about being an adult & being responsible, no matter what life throws at you or where you move to be a FOREVER HOME TO THAT DOG OR DOGS.
The love,loyalty, and utter devotion of dogs and cats , is something humans ,or some of them could learn so much , blessings l send 🙏 🙌 👏 😉 😀 😄 🙏

Dogs truly are man’s best friend. They are the ones that love us unconditionally and are loyal to a fault. That’s why we need them in our lives. We may not deserve them, but we need them. It’s quite obvious that Cake and Mr. Tony are a match made in heaven. He will never forget that dog no matter how bad it gets. 😍

Its amazing how much animals help us my mom is 75 years old and she is beginning down that same path she forgets a lot of things but the one thing that she always remembers is our dog Chloe shes the highlight of her day .

Special young lady.
I have a dog who does not recognise boundaries. He has to be tied up until we put an electric fence up. He scales the 4 foot fence we have. He is a rescue dog and also has nightmares. He cries out in his sleep. He was abused and we show him lots of love and have had him for almost a year now. He will be 5 yrs old this year.
Wonderful story,you gave a homeless dog a wonderful life.

I like what she said, "My DEDICATION to rescuing Cake." We all need that.
That is super cute, my grandfather also has Alzheimers and went through alot. I can understand how hard it is for your grandpa.
My grandparents adopted me and it saved my life, we had a cat that we rescued and had passed away after 16 good years together, it really hurt my papa as he was my grandfather's baby. My grandfather decided he absolutely never wanted another animal and one day me and some friends were on a trip and found this runt of dog on the side of the road and I immediately took to it and brought it home to my grandparents. My grandfather absolutely fell in love and so I knew this runt was in good hands. They now have a super strong bond and she refuses to leave Papa and will whine unless he let's her follow him around or sit on his lap.
I wish more grandchildren treated their grand parents that well. Her whole family is precious and so is that sweet dog (Cake). God sure gave us amazing animals that brings so much joy into our lives. I wonder if anyone can tell me the name of the music at the end; it goes well with this beautifull story. Sweet girl your family must be so proud of you and your grandpa. Thank you for all you are doing and also a Great big Thanks to your grandpa for his SERVICE to USA. God Bless all of you.

I love that❤️❤️my grandma is suffering from dementia and it feels like she's a different person but she loves giving my dogs treats and she cares about them and it just amazing to watch what an impact animals has on humans who are ill
