Keep in mind that in the North campgrounds may be more expensive . The reason is because they are only open a few months of the year and are closed all winter . So they need to make their money in the summer during peak season .

The courtesy vehicle is such a great idea. Even if there was a small charge associated with it it would still be a better idea than hauling a towed around behind your RV.

Check out Passport Express. 1600 campgrounds at 50% less than most.

    Also ,
To many people have the attitude that "Just because you don't own it , you don't have to take care of it" . We should all strive to leave a place better than when we found it .

Maybe do further comparisons. $23 per night national forest electric (30A) & water. Sites are well separated. 5 mile hiking trail. Full att and Verizon 5 bars. Walmart 5 miles away. Birds everywhere including owls. -- feel like I won the lottery. It was a first come first serve site.

With over thirty years experience with campgrounds from coast to coast and border to border, my two cents are that higher priced ones very seldom live up to the 'resort' claims they make. One of the best ones we stayed at was a 'dump' by some standards, but the wifi was great, the cable was hi def, the water, sewer and power all worked well and this was for $18 a night. Several $60+ ones have had very poor (if any) wifi, no cable, water pressure over 50psi, broken swimming pools, broken laundries, but they certainly LOOKED good. I don't believe much of anything posted on web sites anymore and look for recent reviews.

Over a million people own and travel in a rv in the United States. It is a multi billion dollar industry that youtube is very much part of. Rv business’s are lobbying their local gov to outlaw boondocking to keep the rv parks full. Ive been to many areas where it was actually cheaper to get a hotel room than to check into a rv park.

RAY RAY I am not sure where you are located but I hope that doesn't happen! I am finding it very hard to find RV spots for us. We are in the south and where we were able to just decide to go camping on Thursday and get a spot on Friday I'm having to now plan weeks and even months in advance. RVing is becoming a huge business and we are looking into boondocking more and more.

Laycee Higginbotham - boondocking is getting harder too because many places are outlawing the practice of sleeping in your vehicle. I travel in a small class C and look for the walmarts, cabellas , all the free places. I have solar so i dont need electricity. The way i look at , when its dark at night, i have my windows cloaked so it doesnt matter what the view is outside. I am from the south too but right now i am in council bluffs iowa traveling to Portland Oregon . Many of the areas where i use to boondock for free are now illegal. The police will knock on your door at 3 am and threaten to tow your rv even if the walmart or whatever doesnt mind if you are there. I was going to stay in Sioux City tonight but they recently outlawed boondocking so looks like it will be a over priced rv park.

RAY RAY oh man that is exactly what my husband and I want to do. That sounds like the life, class C traveling the US. I had no idea it was getting like that. Safe travels!

Boondocking is oke in Europe as long as it doesn't look like boondocking. So RV's (You know the humonous white, obnoxious vehicles which stand out like a throbbing sore thumb) need to be avoided, as a result convert a commercial vehicle into a stealthy-ish kind of setup. Avoid black tanks like the plague, use a porta-o-potti to pee (which can be dumped in nature without causing a health or toxic problem), do #2 (no not the hashtag kind you tool) can be done in plastic bags and dumped in normal garbage bins. Sponge bathing galore or use a simple air pressurised water dispensing system (like a garden sprayer or the like) Use camo nets if possible, cover the reflectors and headlights of the vehicle while parked. Choose a vehicle which has a dark or at least low profile colour. Sleep, rest and cook/eat at different places. What can not be seen, one does not want. But paying 32,50 Dollar a night is ridiculous and can not be maintained for longer periods of time.

We full timed for 6 years and never saw a courtesy vehicle you could use. Wow! We do more of the Mom and Pop RV parks and we are Passport America members and now are trying the Thousand Trails Zone pass as well. Time will tell if we go with TT. We also were Escapee members as well.

Really like these campground comparisons. Many RV parks, in the west, near drilling areas have a lot of 'drill patch" guys. Rentals are really hard to find in places like Rawlins. They stay for months and sometimes couple of years.

_Have Chris checkout James Rollins: Sigma Force series, I highly recommend his work with sigma series. If he likes Tom Clancy, he'll love James Rollins work. For you Jen, I'm going to guess and suggest Brooks A Agnew: Bearth, The trilogy is fantastic, and yes it's a play on words with the title. You'll find yourself reading and reading, just because they're so darn good, heck Chris would enjoy them too. I love the trilogy, especially the cast of characters, that all I'm going to say I hope you two find them as good as I have. : )_

Thanks for the info, Jen...very helpful. Wish I had checked out that RV Park in SLC when we travelled there last summer. KOA has more trees/shade, but isn’t in the best surrounding area.
Question...do you have plans to put out a 2019 RV Planner, if so, any idea when it might be available? Have loved using it the past 2 years 😊.
    Have a great trip!
