    My new website: www.ajppaint.com (new addition)
    This is just a simple tutorial on how to design a custom paint for iRacing using GIMP. I basically just explain how to use gimp to get a custom paint in iRacing. I apologize for my slur and realize I can be tough to understand. I explain why in the beginning of the video. If you already know how to get a paint in iRacing then this may not help you at all. I do provide a few tips with regards to set-up and ease of use.

I noticed when you save a skin to see what it looks like in the game you send it to a replay you have saved.. I have Windows 8 and my media player doesn't open TGA files.. Is there a certain player you can get that will let you view the car?? And once again thanks for all the info..

    I am new to the Rfactor seen.. And trying to figure out how to get car templates to the Gimp I have on my computer seems to be a difficult task.. I downloaded WinWar. Created a new folder for racing templates like you did. When I went to extract them into Gimp it wouldn't work.. The only thing I can see that is different from yours is at the 5:17 part of this video after you downloaded the template, under the heading TYPE.. Your say's WinWar Zip Archive, and mine say's RAR file... How do you combine the 2 ?? Great video's by the way.. The best on youtube on explaining how to do this.. Not being a computer whiz by any means, they have been very helpful.. Thanks again..

    That design you did on the side of the car. WHat about copying that and duplicating it on the other side? What's the best way to do that?

    You do not have to upload to TP and I dont in this tutorial. However, after you are done painting and if you want others to see it in the sim, then you will need to upload it to TP. When you do that TP will put it in the proper folder of everyone else so they will see it as your skin as well. There are settings now that allow those to be deleted after each session as well. Hope this answers your questions my friend.

    When I try to open up the dirt late model template, I get a dialog that asks me if I want to "Convert to RGB Working Space?" It says that the image "dirt late model.psd" has an embedded color profile.. Then it asks "Convert the image to the RGB working space? and below that there is a question about "Rendering Intent:" with the choices being "Perpetual", "Relative colormetric", "Saturation" & "Absolute colormetric" Below that a box is checked that says "Black Point Compensation" Below all of that it asks me to choose "convert" or "keep" This might be a whole lot of nothing, but I'm unsure what the correct thing to do is since I am pretty new to Gimp. Any input would be appreciated.

      First, thank you very much and my thoughts a prayers are with you and your family. I am glad to hear your mom is beating it as well.
      It is the RLE compression. You want to leave it checked and leave it for bottom left if not selected already.

    Hi Dude, First of all thanks for this great video. I do enjoy the pace so us beginners can keep up. I downloaded my (ruf) template via the download template button on the paint page of the iracing member site. And i can -for the love of god- not find the paintable layer in my layer tab. I just installed gimp2 and didn't used it before...
    EDIT; if i open one of the templates from the zip file from the forum, i do see the paintable layer. With the RUF the paintable layer is nowhere to be found

    • @nUKerATsKi
      @nUKerATsKi  Před 10 lety

      I am not completely sure off all the issues you may be running into my friend but if you are only missing the one paintable base layer you can just create a new one and use it. Right click in the layer section and choose, new layer then when the window pops up make sure to keep it transparent. Then you can just fill that layer with any color. Be sure to keep it at the bottom if that is where you need it.
      Thank you for the kind words as well my friend. Good luck.

    Hi mate you video is great just watched you 1st one .
    Just got a little problem , I got to the export part I can not get it to iracing car ?
    I got lost on file ( what file name ) number ( what number ) where is my number .
    This is the thing at the moment .

    • @nUKerATsKi
      @nUKerATsKi  Před 10 lety

      the number is your iRacing id which you get from your account page. You will name it car_xxxxx.tga . Just like that except replace the xxxxx with your id. Then you put it in the right folder for the car which will be documents/iracing/paints/ "car type" I hope that helps my friend.

    can i ask how can you copy your image to the left side or vice versa the door? you didnt show in your vid

    • @nUKerATsKi
      @nUKerATsKi  Před 6 lety

      Hi. The way that works best for me is to first, right click on the layer you want to put on the other side. Choose "duplicate". Then, you can use the transform tool from the tool box or select it from the tabs up top. Then, flip it and move it to the other side. It may take some nudging to get it just right.
      Also, I almost always make sure the layer I am duplicating is only as big as it needs to be. To do that right click on the layer and choose "alpha to selection" (something like that hehe). Then, right click on the template someone, go down to layer and choose, crop to selection. Then, when you play with you new layer, you are only adjusting the size you have too instead of the whole template size. Once you do this a few times you will see what I mean.
      Sorry for the delay in getting you this response my friend. Best of luck.
