      its worse when you realize he's prying into that particular Naib's dreams. Shedding tears, giving water to the dead, is sacrosanct, but also something intensely private. Water is everything after all, and shedding tears can be said to be the greatest offering there. But he is a Naib and should be above such things. Yet he dreams of it and it brings him joy.

However, those who are charismatic tend to be people who get caught up in their own charisma and lose sight of any rational or moral reasoning. They are not inherently corrupt, nor does power corrupt them, but those individuals are drawn to power because they are corruptible.

If we're comparing acting, cinematography, direction, and other movie aspects, Dune by far.

    @Elysium346 Před 12 dny +24

    I have not read the whole story. But from what I do know from watching the movie is that although Paul is not necessarily the saviour they were waiting for, he is the one they need. Paul IS special. Paul IS competent. Paul IS an excellent leader. There comes a point where, if someone so powerful and knowledgeable comes around, and gives you the best bet to get the outcome you seek... is it truly a terrible thing to 'settle' for him? Will someone better REALLY come around?
    The Harkonnen wish to wipe them out -- seeing them as an thorn in the side of their operations. The Emporor cares nothing for the Fremen people, so long as spice continues to be delivered by the Harkonnen they are content and overlook any injustice or brutality exacted upon them. The Great houses and Merchant guild of course share this attitude of ambivalence towards the Fremen people. They all know the terrors of Dune, but they choose not to intervene.
    Paul does care. Yes he has his own agenda too, but from what I know thus-far -- he does intend to achieve the Fremen dream. He is not just using the Fremen at no risk to himself.
    The Fremen are a people who were held prisoners by the lies of the Bene Gesserit. Paul uses it to spur them into action instead of allowing those same teachings to keep them contained in a state of 'waiting' for a saviour. Unfortunately he has not had the luxury of time to attempt a less controversial method to unite the people, and how could he? Its no simple task to combat centuries of dogma and he doesn't have time. If taking the high road would lead to the death of them all, himself and the Fremen, then i'm not going to argue he should have just died in peace and accepted such a fate.
    Paul might be the manipulator they needed, maybe in the future, in less desperate times their eyes will open and they will come to see that Paul was not a divine guide... just a really incredible human being who took advantage of circumstances for their (The Fremen) own benefit as well as his own.
    But hey, i'm yet to read Dune: Messiah and the other books, maybe I've got this totally wrong. I look forward to finding out!

      well to be honest theres no on in the book who is the real messiah, it never existed even after the end of all the books. but paul is the one they been waiting for centuries he was the Kwisatz Haderach because he was the first male one existed in the movie that powerful enough to bridge space and time, pass and future thats why fremen see paul as the voice of the outer world because he is. no one ever come close to becoming Kwisatz Haderach with in the existing movies but in the book there is one but i wont say it but it was part of his bloodlines. paul is not fake, he is the way. he was able to freed fremen from oppression against the great houses. without paul atreides eventually fremen will be swept from humanity because they are being hunted
      just the moment paul was able to freed fremen oppression thats where people view paul as the villian but in fact, paul and fremen where the one being hunt. in short, its all the about the eye beholder who can tell who is the villian in the movies. they show you what they want to show you but not the other way around

But he refuses to allow himself to be manipulated or controlled by anyone, which tragically becomes his downfall.

      For real 😂 we gotta be careful. If Paul told me he's AlMahdi I might as well believe him with that Charisma and passion he has lol. Fun fact: I'm Shia Muslim and I do actually wait for AlMahdi and pray for his return daily, so this scene kinda touches my heart. I only wish to see AlMahdi's face even once before I die.

    I am from Saudi Arabia, the harsh weather conditions here enriches a deep rooted spiritual longing among people. Islam promises of eternal paradise "وجنات تجري من تحتها الانهار” which literally translates to “Paradise forests where rivers flow beneath it” here where there are no rivers in the Arabian peninsula and very scarce water sources. I think this movie captures a bit of the essence of the spiritual longing of the Arabs, their cry for life and what gave them the strength to conquer the world during the Islamic conquest.
