Faye's tutorials are always so great. She's one of the few creator's left that shows all the steps so you can actually use her videos to perform the job on your own vehicle. My only request is that i hope she does some Corolla videos since I just got a brand new one this month. 🥰
🥰👍🏻 congrats on the new ride!! I'll see what I can do!
The table layout of the tools needed is always such a great help. Having a section in the video to reference I so appreciate. Thanks!
No problem at all! Thanks for the feedback so I know what to keep on doing! 😃👍🏻
TECH TIP: Most people don't know this but a lot of Toyota's "OE" replacement pads are actually a "Value Line" substitute, you have to specifically ask for the Factory Installed pads if you want what the vehicle originally came with. Thumbs up 👍 this comment to keep it at the top of the list. As always GREAT VIDEO!
Is the parts guy at the Toyota dealership going to look at me funny when i explain that to him? I need to ask for NOT the replacement pads but the pads the car came with when built?
@@klwthe3rd Question #1: Maybe, but any decent parts guy will know what you're talking about. Question #2: You are Correct.
How do you know this?
If it has az in the part number that is Toyotas economy line parts. Example 04495-az108... Or yyz in the number isn't a factory part.
@@mineniner8078 Thank you so much for your information. I appreciate you.
I worked in automotive brake pads manufacturing for over a decade. So if your pads are ceramic, the ceramic pads material tend to crack especially if they get hot. Scorching the pads like these also cause cracking. Always check your pads at the parts store for cracks before purchasing. We used to produce over 11,000 parts in one 8hr shift a day. Something might get missed on occasion.
Love the videos, keep them coming!
Hello from Niagara Falls. 105 F! Ouch!
I taught my daughter how to change her pads and rotors when she was in college. Fairly simple with moderate tools. She has done the same for many of her friends saving them hundreds of dollars on brake jobs. She is not a mechanic or anything like it. But she was proud and fascinated by what she learned and has paid it forward.
Watching your videos makes me wanna switch from my Cruze to a Yoda somedays. You make the fixing videos so easy to understand.
That's the nicest thing to say thank you -- I certainly try 😊
We love a good Faye. Don't stop doing us proud girl
I watched your videos and then did this on my 3rd gen 4runner. Last week my wife was driving us home from Tn and a deer ran out in front of the truck. She did awesome and the brakes worked perfectly. Her good driving and paired with good tires and 13wl brakes saved our bacon. Thank you for your videos. I've learned a ton from you, and that knowledge has officially saved our butts.
Never a dull moment in Faye’s world 🎉 thank you for all your videos you put out!!
Love the way you detail the work 🤗
Thank you! 😊
Glad to see a new video, your a great Toyota tech and really good @ recording tutorials.
Thank you so much for the kind words!!!! 🙏🏻
No wonder Faye’s so cool, she sniffed her glue sticks in class. That’s a good thing cuz she’s much happier bein a tech now than something that requires college and not sniffing glue sticks. Glad I found your channel!! Missed seein ya on tv and now here ya are back on my tv albeit via CZcams, but still!!! Great job once again Faye!!
God bless~
Oh my gosh 😂 thank you for the funny comment!! A new episode of AGG aired this past weekend, and there are still I think 3 more new episodes to finish up the 2023 season!
@@FayeHadley oh wow, of course!!! That’s Awesome!! I was thinking it was cancelled for some reason or you had left. Appreciate that. I’ll definitely check them out. Love the channel though too!
I don't even own a Toyota, but I enjoy your videos, and the shop chickens
I recently subscribed, you are a gear head’s dream.
i want to personslly say thankyou because im a certified advanced tech for toyota so brakes, alignments and d/f are much of my day. your videos help a ton. im still really new to the mechanic world. im a 6 month advanced tech 😂. im a apprentice
Great way to start my Monday watching Faye😁
This is the best channel if you own a 2nd gen Tacoma thank you so much
Faye why are you so awesome!
I don't know!!😅 Thank you!!
I just installed a lift kit on my 2nd gen 🌮 all by myself... it took me nearly 20 hours to put in new upper/lower control arms, shock/struts, rear leaf springs and rear shocks. Thankfully my company's shop was well equipped for the job and i had a company truck to go home in.
I hope that one day I can be as upbeat as you are while replacing pads and rotors, lol. You definitely make it fun.
😃😃😃
She amazing! ❤ one in a million! Where can i find such rare gems 💎
Faye, the 91 lb-ft is from converting 123 Nm probably. 123 Nm is 90.725 lb-ft, rounded off to 91. Toyota uses SI (SI means Système International or International System, which is the metric system). This is my guess of where the 91 lb-ft is from. Great video btw 👍!
Hey, its Faye!! Love your work at home and on tv. Keep the videos coming.
I also use small amounts of brake grease on surfaces. I stopped using painted callipers tho as im not cleaning callipers every time I wash the car.....I grew tired of the used dirty look. Always a pleasure to spent time here Faye you're a goodie!
Same rotors on my Tundra. I used power stop pads as well. Great stuff. Love how easy Tundra brakes are to do.
Snap-On Tools shows that you are passionate about mechanics and wanna show off that swag!
Faye you are awesome. You present so well !!
Stay hydrated. I love what you do for us.
Great tutorials from this young lady. Step by step and on point
Thanks for sharing Faye ❤ great video.
You're the bomb Faye. Keep going!
9:06 Couldn't agree with u more Faye using brake part's cleaner only best thing for brakes soap and water solution maybe little messy when removing luv the red calipers aswell for Toyota Tacoma 4x4.
Really enjoy your personality and the Tacoma content!
Another great vid Faye! Thank you for the content 💯
Very informative video!!! I have also installed Powerstop red powder coated calipers on my 05 Mazda 3 with EBC Yellowstuff pads and slotted rotors. I also used Castrol DOT 4 brake fluid. Car looks and stops like a champ.
Awesome video Faye and you are an awesome person 👍. Just this past year I have replaced the brakes on both of our Tacoma's. But it’s still fun to watch you do another Tacoma brake job. Thanks for the great video looking forward to seeing your next video. Or a Sunday all girls garage episode. 👍
I love your how to videos. I personally don’t need the information, but it’s great for people with less knowledge.
Awesome Chanel and video, I have an is500 and an 2012 fj cruiser. Your tips and vids have been awesome wealth of knowledge.
Suns out guns out 💪!! Always enjoys your how to’s!
Faye, thanks for the detailed vids on service work. I just discovered your channel. 👍
Good job Faye. Working in a blistering hot shop is ughhh.I now try to do my repairs after the sun sets. Please remember to stay hydrated and safe.
Thxs for the information on yours videos as I’ve done so much on my car that I would have not done without your videos, just want to say thx you 👍 from 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
Miss Faye...
Queen of the Toyotas!
I just love watching her videos. I wish they were at least an hour long though but I'll take thirty.
Faye, I just recently subscribed to your channel because one of your videos came up in my recommended last week. It's been about two years, but I remember watching your show on MotorTrend. I've always had a love for cars but I never took the time to seriously learn how to work on them until very recently. I'm 42 and decided I will make a career change to go into the automotive industry because the current trade I'm in is not a good fit for me.
Anyway, your channel is great because I can either watch and learn or if I'm doing chores I can put your videos on in the background and listen to them while I'm doing other things around the house. You're really great at explaining everything that somebody needs to know on whatever subject your video is about. Thank you and keep up the great work!
I'm so happy this channel popped up on my CZcams feed. Awesome videos. Your super cool. Watching in a tractor sowing wheat in Vernon Texas. I definitely know about that heat. 😢
I followed you on IG, but I had bo idea you had a yt channel. This was so good and so well explained for someone who is as car illeterate as me
I really enjoy all your Taco videos. I respect your work and trust what you say. So I Hope Brandon gives you the love you Deserve.
Yay! New Faye! She's got auto knowledge all day!
🥰🥰🥰
I am looking at getting a 2nd gen Tacoma and watching your videos makes me realize that you have the heart of a teacher! I had a '19 Ranger, which is a great pickup except for the transmission in my case at least so I had to get rid of her. Keep on teaching...making videos!
Very nice. This illustrates an important principle that very powerful brakes are a matter of context. Increase the power and speed for racing or add a bunch of weight and those same brakes can become dreadfully inadequate. This goes back for me to the original Mini Cooper S. These cars were homologation specials which had huge disc brakes that on a turbo-charged race car were described by the driver as "there aren't any." After 50 years, I think we can call this an unforgettable revelation.😉
Thanks, Faye! You rock!
I think this is going to be one of my favorite channels 😎🤙
Thank you for sharing! Very informative and as always going to share. You all Take care!
I did this last week, unfortunately my caliper bore's were in pretty bad. flip side is I went the same route as you did on this truck. Great video as always, keep up the good work! Another note for others, if the slide pins are seized, pin punch on a air hammer works very well. Figured this out after spending a good hour getting them out on one side.
Powerstop is the only brake parts I use! Really good stuff! Thanks for taking the time to make videos.I have done hundreds of brake jobs, bit still watch videos, never know, might learn something new! P.S I use acetone in a squeeze bottle, much cheaper than cans!
Great bit of instruction.
Revvin it up baby!!!!!!!!!
Hi Faye, watching from Australia, great to see the girls in the trade, thanks for the video its really well done, top job.
All the best from Australia 🇺🇸🇭🇲🙏👍
Hey kid. You would be proud of me. I got rid of my hellcat and traded it for a 2023 sr5 4runner and a 2023 Tacoma TRD Offroad. Im all Toyota again. No more worrying about getting carjacked...lol. You guys should take my 99 limited 4runner and do it up on your show. Its perfect for it 140k. Mechanically perfect. Needs some Faye toyota love.
Can we get a review on that Powerstop brake kit? I can’t find anything out there on them and how they perform.
First off I love your videos you are so knowledgeable and you go through every step with detail, I just got one thing I want to ask I know when I took my break class for ASE they told me the squeaker clips shouldn't go against the rotation they should go with it opposite of what you showed that way it does not bend and gouge into the rotor it actually flexes away from it and just makes a squeaking instead of a growling sound where it's eating into the rotor.... Give me your opinions if you would and let me know if I'm doing it right.... Thank you very much like I said I do love your videos they have so much detail in them.... I am also a firm believer of cleaning all of the brake rotors and parts with brake cleaner.... My boss used to always yell at me for using too much break cleaner....lol
Great video, Faye. I would have liked to see you at the SEMA Show this year, but I couldn't make it. Maybe next year? Love the chickens and pumpkins part of your video. Keep up the great work.
Very well detailed.
❤❤❤thanks for sharing this tutorial video and love your singing ; is so awesome!!!
Faye is awesome! Thanks so much.
You are awesome Faye dont listen to the haters.
You’re great Faye!!
I bought these a year ago and I waiting for my old one's to wear out. I think soon. Glad to see you back working on the taco.
You and me both! Thank you!!
How have the rotors and pads held up. ? Was going to start mine, I also bought their Calibers.
Running dual anti rattling springs (top and bottom) helps to avoid issues that many Tacoma owners have with noisy brakes.
Outstanding brake tutorial....you've obv lived in a "salt" region (yes I know 😀)....kudos to the lubing of all moving parts...part....many here in TX ignore this step.
I am due to replace pads and rotors. Have gotten 70k on the them. probably could go awhile longer but great excuse to upgrade and to them myself enjoyed the tutorial.
❤ like always your pixie dust rocks
You commented about the Texas heatwave, I don't think people understand how truly hot it is. I can tell you that she is cooking when the fan is on, so being off she is showing how mentally tough she is, and being focused on the job at hand when your pouring sweat, shirt sticks to your back etc. The reason I understand is because I live in Oklahoma for you all that are geographically challenged, that is the state right above Texas. We both get blasted with humidity, alot from the gulf. What she didn't mention was the flash sweats, those accure when you body temp gets acclimated to a.c.room temp, then you step out side and the heat hits you at warp speed and alot of people like me get goose bumps and then sweat. So please know she is doing this very professionally under God awful conditions. In my opinion she is a very talented mechanic but off the charts while battling the heat that I can testify is horrible.
Faye,
Excellent video. Just did similar job on my 2005 Arctic Tacoma with the same red powder coated, drilled/slotted rotors. Mistake I just noticed I made was that I did not clean the rotors. I would like to see you discuss what type of compressor for the air tools, and setup.
Thanks
Carlo Quinn
Thanks Faye for another great informative video. We appreciate it. 🫡
A friend on a bike at a track day had the friction material completely come off one pad (and they were quality pads). Result was zero braking before a corner (even though there was still friction material on the other pads, it would take significant pumping of the lever to get any pressure), a trip into the kitty litter on the outside of the corner and then a trip to Accident & Emergency
Faye, nice work!
Good morning
I didn't make it to SEMA this year. My cousin got you on video saying my name and hopefully you'll see me next year.😊
Aw your hens are so happy with that jackolantern 😍😍 we give our jacks to the tortoise....he likes them very much 👍✌️
I am completely in love wowww ❤
I have Powerstop Z36 kit on my 2013 4runner and they are fantastic. 8:04
Thanks for the informative video, I have been working on Toyotas since my 94 Camry sadly it went to Toyota have after a crash from an impaired driver. enter 2005 Camry I changed the breaks and rotors in my mechanic class my sister received it, so she gets a throttle body and mass air flow sensor for free last week. now my training was from a lady master technician and another guy they were both very good three years of training I would marry that lady if she wasn't married. I digress if I had three daughters, they would learn everything I know to fix cars too like you keep up the work women can do anything including being good mechanics. I have four sisters and they get anything they need to be fixed my brother he wasn't born with the mechanic gene so no help from him. very jealous of that new lift damm I would love to put the highlander on that if I had the space. mechanic advised I needed the throttle body and sensor cleaned I did it myself the range went up 50 miles from 497 to 548 I like fixing things. forget people who don't believe you're doing excellent work my girlfriend appreciates my mechanic knowledge.
7:28 put the heavier one on the inside for center gravity
Hi hi! Love Toyota !
You are very high energy and have a very positive mode. you seem really happy and happy doing what your doing. Curious where did you go to school?
This was a well done video Faye. I never considered trying the gravity bleeding procedure and I'm glad you did it. It's really the same technique we had to use on some aircraft systems but in this case to ensure any excess fluid after servicing is completely drained. Looking forward to watching your brake bleeding video soon. 🙏❤️✌️🇺🇲🌎
I did bleed then after, but it actually wasn't necessary, just letting them bleed themselves worked in the case but it doesn't always!! Very cool you work on aircraft👍🏻😃
you're the best
Hey Faye 🙂 Just went through replacing the same in my " Fix Or Repair Daily " as the inside pad on the back had worn down to a cigarette thin wafer leaving the exterior pad with considerable meat still attached ( Back Brakes ) Don't ya just love shitty engineering Grr ...Great to see you Faye 🙂
New sub! You are awesome!!!!!
Hey Faye, Have you thought about using the Gen 2 tundra brake booster mod on the tacoma for better brake performance? I would also through in the brake cylinders for the 1st gen tundra on your tacoma.
Thanks Fay! Do you have a suggestion for replacement pads/rotors/calipers that fit 2014 Toyota Tundra, in silver or black. I do a lot of towing a 6500 lb trailer. Downhill when the brakes get hot I feel some vibration in the steering.
I had a rotor that only came with 1 side of the rotor looked like a super huge turbo wheel lol!!!
I have a 2007 Aspen and want Coilovers, Any Suggestions⁉️
Would you also recommend the z36 brake upgrade for the 05 first gen Tundra double cab
Thanks 🌹
I see those "performance" brake rotors a lot majority in America but with my knowledge and research online they're not exactly as great as you want them to be especially if you're towing heavy. The drilling of the rotor on the contact surface actually weakens the rotor and doesn't offer any performance at all where as the long slotting across the surface does so vented and slotted is the best way to go. Here in Australia DBA (Disk Brakes Australia) make good quality products with technology that actually ads performance instead of sporty asthetics but either are an upgrade over stock brakes. Good video Faye sucks so much to work on stuff when it's really hot.
You seem cool. I have 2000 Toyota Sienna
