  • This will be Part 1 of 2 Videos where I review and showcase the Buy Stuff Arcades Yoke & Wheel Gaming Box! This Android Box Kit has multiple setup options that are Plug And Play including simply plugging in a wired XBox360 Controller or something more fancy like the Glen's Retro Show GRS Flight Yoke, Thrustmaster T-80 or T-150 Racing Wheels, or Hori Racing Wheels. The main feature of this kit is to install it inside of an AtGames Legends Ultimate or AtGames Legends Ultimate Mini Arcade Machine with the included splitter and switching cables which I will feature in Part 2 of this 2-part series. In Part 1 we will review the Gaming Box, what's included, games and systems included, and how well does it play with a GRS Flight Yoke and Pedestal Setup!
    The Gaming Box Kit will Retail for $149 and can be purchased from the Buy Stuff Arcades Website once the listing goes live very soon.

    Thanks PDubs - we have been shipping out some BETA versions of the build, but are continuing to tweak and fix issues that come up. SD Card upgrades will be available for just $20 to the latest build at any time. The genesis of this product was to solve the issue the GRS Yoke has with deadzone on the ALU with CoinOpsX. A ton of work has gone into it as it has evolved from there. We'll continue to improve it as best we can given the limitations of the various emulators and the OS.

      @@jimharper5710 Hi Jim - thanks for the question. ROMs are free to download for everyone. We are charging for the hardware, shipping and the immense amount of time it took to configure it all to work with the Yoke and Wheels. This is no different than everyone else selling mod-kits and pre-built systems (or Pandora boxes etc.) Even without the ROMS installed - since they are easy for anyone to add - our Gaming Box is still a great deal. If anyone contacts us and asks for their content to be removed, we'll be happy to do so.

      One of the things that should be mentioned and is worth mentioning is that BuyStuff went ahead of themselves and made this for everyone, as you dont even need the additional Pedal for either GRS yolk or Hori Steering wheel or wheel of choice and can take off with press of a button. My thinking is not every one either likes the way if standing and pressing down on the pedal or for those with disabilities maybe they cant use a pedal.

    I have been debating on making my own arcade and I was thinking that something like this would be a good way to get multiple games on one machine. I was thinking about a standard stick and button configuration and then adding a flight stick similar to Tron with stick and spinner set up. So this has given me some ideas. With that said I think the price point is a little high but then again if you don't want to take the effort to source everything yourself maybe it's just right. Was looking forward to this. Great part 1 review. I was thinking of getting this with their sit-down racing cabinet, and was hoping for more mame/arcade versions of the games, not consoles. The racing cabinet sold out too fast for me. Considering getting the completed set-up from Retro Lizard - racing cab plus pc with all the arcade games, plus the teknoparrot games. The price of the racing cabinet and quality of build seems too good to be playing console games on it. This racing box is good for a fun selection of racing games for a decent price. I believe some of the games on this box can be played by 2 or more people with separate boxes, wheels/yokes, tv's, etc (2 people racing together on their own set-ups) - Can you verify this, PDubs? Hey Pdubs, this definitely had my attention when I saw their official video about installation on the ALU. Pretty clever. Points to Buys Stuff Arcades for making a box that reminded me of an old Atari cartridge. Would have been better if it had actually been one but whatever...lol
    Questions:
    1) That GRS Flight Yolk mount, is it truly surface safe to mount to the ALU without scratching anything?
    2) Can games be added or removed from this game box?
    This is the first time I've seen Hard Drive'n included with a game pack...that game was always a coin eater for me...I might have to get one of these!!!

    • @BuyStuffArcades

      The T-mold on our mount works very well to limit scratches. The ALU top is plexiglass however, so we can't say it will never ever scratch at all, but it's very good. Games are easily deleted. They can be added if you are experienced, but that is not as easy.

    Pretty cool looking product. Definitely a nice plug and play solution. But when and if I eventually do a driving cab I'll use a PC for it since it will have enough power to run some of the higher end arcade racers. Unfortunately, this is using console versions for those titles. Besides, I already have a PC for my Legends pinball so there's no reason not to make it do double duty.

      PCs have definite advantages for Racing builds, no doubt. But I still can't see how these guys, Retro Lizard, 99 Lives Arcade, etc. can get away with it. Arcade1up and other guys go the legal route and get all their games properly licensed from whoever owns the copyrights now. It's kind of a gray area with ROM's. I think Retro Lizard and 99 lives are near Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY so they are on the US side.

      We put a ton of work into configuring all of these emulators for analog control. NES, SNES and Genesis are actually pretty good with the Yoke considering. For PS1, we weren't going to include any until we found an undocumented setting that cleaned the deadzone right up. The real stars of the show are PSP and Dreamcast games, however. Is it perfect? Yeah -not try to get into politics of whether right, wrong, etc. Also not familiar with how Ali Express boxes skirt this issue. Figured it was just that the overseas companies shipping them were small or untouchable. Buy Box seems to be a bigger target as a domestic company and going beyond what AtGames does in actually providing games at a cost. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Do the game companies genuinely not care anymore? Seems risky to include Nintendo games especially.

    • @robkrasinski6217
      @robkrasinski6217 Před rokem

      Nintendo actually sued ROM sites with old 8-bit games and Team Xecuter which tried to hack into one of their newer systems. If you share a Nintendo game like Super Smash Bros. on torrent then somehow Nintendo will sniff it out, complain to your ISP, and your ISP will send you a warning letter.

  • @videogamevegasYeOldeAccount

    PDubs,
    For $150 and around 300 games, for it to be worth it for me, this thing would need to be vetted to the point where all games work very well. From your initial impressions, this isn't the case. Does it look like a bad product? Not at all. But with the amount you of games you get with the hit or miss gameplay, I say if they could get this down to $30 or $40, I think it would be a great alternative.

    • @BuyStuffArcades
      @BuyStuffArcades Před rokem +1

      To clarify, we are not including any games that we can't get configured acceptably - that is the whole purpose of what we're doing here since the Yoke and Wheels are traditionally very difficult to configure. It's still in beta, so there will still be some bugs, although we're already 4 versions further than what PDubs is demoing here. Supporting multiple controllers means not every game will work with every controller properly, although most do.

      They did most of the work to give us options. And to help give us better content then Atgames is giving with out having to go buy more Arcades just to play some really good games plus its all about learning and sharing in this community and helping it grow. Honestly they could have just included this only as part of their racing cab deals and we would have to shell out more money just to have a complete set up which would still be cheaper then buying a real racing/flying/shooting arcade…
