  • Please be advised this is not a complete installation tutorial for the new Deluxe Backbox 2.0 from BSA. This video was just to demonstrate how simple of an upgrade it is for your AtGames Legends Pinball. Took me about an hour total unboxing, removing and installing the backbox, and re-configuring the displays in Windows 10, PinUp Popper, and VPX.
    For anyone OTG'ing with a gaming laptop like me, you may have read online that you cannot output the backglass image and DMD from a single displayport/thunderbolt port from the laptop. I'm happy to report that I am able to, here is a link to the exact splitter I'm using in the video:
    www.amazon.com/dp/B07H11ZHPW?...
    Hope this video sheds some light on what to expect when installing the new Deluxe Backbox 2.0 - it's fairly straightforward and the results are absolutely stunning!

    I’m about to purchase the LP table and this looks great. Dumb question though. Looking at the options that are available with the back board I’m seeing a “vibs” board is one of them. I’m not sure what that is. Is one needed for standard operations?

    • @nerdloftgaming
      @nerdloftgaming  Před rokem

      Yep, you will need a VIBS board if you plan on using a PC to play additional tables - it's what makes it possible to display the backglass image in OTG mode.

      @XAbbeldydooX Před rokem

      Thanks. As silly as it may sound to enthusiasts i am not really planning on playing from PC. In fact I don’t even have a PC, only a phone. I only plan on playing the tables available preinstalled or the downloadable packs.

      @@XAbbeldydooX BSA has a budget backbox coming out as well, and they plan on revealing it soon. I would hold off on ordering this and see what that may be. It could be a single large display, and that would be perfect for playing the stock tables - but that's only my guess.
      There are additional upgrade kits you can add that'll enhance the stock table playing experience: the BSA Haptics Upgrade Kit, and the Cleveland Software Solenoids Kit. Both I highly recommend 👍

    Hi

    • @nerdloftgaming
      @nerdloftgaming  Před rokem

      Hey Tz, this is the 2.0
      The display used for DMD functionality is actually a normal color display (you can see my desktop background in the video). To get a colorized DMD for vpin usage, there are additional steps and configurations needed. I've decided to not go that route... because honestly, I just want to play pinball haha!

  • @playingmax
    @playingmax Před rokem

    Congrats on the new backbox! question did you have to reconfigure every table?

    • @nerdloftgaming
      @nerdloftgaming  Před rokem +4

      Actually, no I didn't! They only real change I had to make was deleting all my custom DMD table settings (found in the DmdDevice file) - since I was originally playing on the stock ALP backglass, I moved around the DMD depending on the art.
      Once I fit the virtual DMD window inside the display, I saved the position globally and that was it 👍

    • @nerdloftgaming
      @nerdloftgaming  Před rokem

      That is correct, the DMD is 4:1 ratio. Gaming laptops definitely work for OTG, my worry was that the single displayport wouldn't be able to output both the backglass and DMD, but thankfully that isn't the case.

  • @noiselabproject9659
    @noiselabproject9659 Před rokem +1

    I build my own Pin Cab machines but I`d say that this is a must for At Games owners cos the single small 16:9 monitor is rubbish to have to cram a DMD display onto as well as the stretched backglass and then have an At Games logo where a DMD would be is just bad design. If the original machine had had a 19" or 22" 5:4 backglass screen in the 1st place and no stupid AT Games logo then it would have been ok

    • @nerdloftgaming
      @nerdloftgaming  Před rokem

      Yup, the BSA Backbox is the way to go for those of us who want a "drop in" solution for a larger backglass. I'm looking forward to what AtGames does for their new backbox on the 4K table later this year.

    • @nerdloftgaming
      @nerdloftgaming  Před rokem

      Your laptop would need display output ports to work, yes. Mine happens to have two output ports, one being the standard HDMI and the other being a thunderbolt 3/displayport.
      It's highly recommended to use a dedicated graphics card setup (ie desktop PC) for vpin to ensure you have enough power to support multiple displays. But it can be done from a gaming laptop when tweaks are made to the graphics/video options.

      The sound is great, really shines in OTG mode, as VPX separates the music and sound effects. So while the backbox outputs the music of a table, everything else sounds like it’s come from inside the machine (ball rolls, flippers and slingshots, bumpers etc) - a table like AC/DC will literally shake the whole cab, which is gnarly.
