  • Today's video is my Review and an installation overview of installing and setting up the Deluxe Backbox 2.0 for the AtGames Legends Pinball Machine designed and distributed from the Buy Stuff Store/Buy Stuff Arcades! I did pay for this unit out of my own pocket and links below for all the mods I did to turn my AtGames Legends Pinball into a Q*Bert's Quest Virtual Pinball Machine!
ALP Deluxe 2.0 Backboxes will display the ALP Table Backglass on the LARGE 24" Screen, not the small DMD screen. Backbox Design BB3 is a traditional straight-angled black finished box with upgraded 3" speakers and silver grills. DMD size 4:1 ratio 12.3" screen. Measures 23" W and 22" H
    1. Flat HDMI and USB cables and caps that pop right into the backbox for an easy clean look,
    2. A 24" backglass for PC and ALP pinball and a DMD screen for PC pinball, 3. Built in mounts for the VIBS board for easy installation plus holes for mounting the VIBS button. (VIBS Board is required to use both screens.)
    4. An easy-to-remove back cover to enclose the backbox. Plus our Plug & Play Backbox easily installs directly into place using the same wingnuts from the original backbox.

AtGames should do a deal with this company, and just start including this mod as standard with a "pro" version of the ALP. At least, now, I know it IS possible to replace the existing tiny backglass monitor with something big enough for me to see, if I decide to get an ALP. For the time being, I do have the DIY table from GameRoomSolutions, and the not so easy to see A1up tables. Thanks for sharing this.

PDubs, been considering rising my ALP as well. Do you think the legs are worth it?

  • @videogamevegasYeOldeAccount

    PDubs,
First off, some positive vibes :) You're always awesome for putting these videos together, and shout out to others in the community who helped you make this happen.
Next positive vibe. Buy Stuff Store has some amazing concepts. Love the look of this backbox :)
Now to me personally. I forced myself to watch this entire video, which wasn't hard, because your videos have that PDubs charm. However, my heart sunk every time I saw a new wire to plug in, or setting to be set, etc. VPin, unfortunately right now, falls into four categories (probably more, but I'll stick with the four for ease):
    1. Cost Effective, Out of the box, super limited, but super easy to start enjoying right away (Arcade1up, AtGames, ToyShock)
    2. Modded out out of the box solution, what this video demonstrates, taking one of the cheaper solutions (Arcade1up, AtGames, ToyShock) and adding to it.
    3. Super Expensive, with all the bells and whistles, custom tailored made machines that may (or may not) have all the tables you want pre-installed.
    4. Build from the ground up yourself.
Unfortunately, option 1 is my speed, but I want more games. Soft mods are great, if they don't get too complicated (I completed the Pinner mod on my Arcade1up, but it is a lengthy process, but thank you to Team Encoder and Kongs R Us). Hardware mods can have wonderful results, as shown in your videos, but I'm just not that savvy with wires, old eyes, lack of coordination, and hands not small enough for these tiny components. In fact, just plugging in the cables in a stock AtGames gen 1 Legends Pinball, just building it, was a nightmare and took months to resolve to get working. And heck, I currently have a dead iiRcade Gold edition sitting in my living room that I've been working with their support for over 2 months now with no resolution in sight, with them having me re-seat all manner of tiny wires OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I just can't win.
I wish some company could figure out a secret sauce, to get all players to work together to create a small form factor VPin, between $1000 and $2000, that is truly plug and play (plug into power and go with minimal cabinet build), with an online store where you could purchase any pinball table ever made. Where the community could work with license holders and even assist building real tables out, everyone sharing in the profits, making some money (not all the money), so it would be more advantageous for people to get paid for their work instead of people having to resort to pirating stuff. I don't know. It worked with the music industry, so why not video games? Make it easy so it would be more convenient to pay for it. The company who comes up with this recipe will blow away the competition. Go Go GODZILLA! WOOOOO OOOO OOOO!
