    Alright! This installation isn't that simple as the previous honeycomb tire for the inokim light 2. It requires a little bit of technique so do follow closely as every step matters to a successful installation.
    The tools needed are simple:
    1. 3 long guide screws with nut for compression
    2. 1 5mm allen key
    3. 1 L shape 8mm allen key
    4. A cloth to prevent scratches
    5. 1 small wrench

    VERY INFORMATIVE video. Now I can buy the scooter that I really want and just change the tires over to solid at the first flat. Before I was limiting myself to only scooters with solid tires and some of those manufacturers have switched over to air tires.

    @SeanMackesey Před 2 lety +1

    I purchased the 8.5" x 2.6" for the rear wheel of my VSett 9+ and cannot for the life of me get the thing on. I can get the guide screws in and tightened, but I am completely stuck at the step where you flip and "lift" the tire onto the motor-side rim (using Allen wrench as lever in this video).
    The problem appears to be that the tire is just too small for the rim. The inner diameter of the tire is a few mm smaller than the inner diameter of the rim. So when I tighten the guide screws, the inner part of the rim just presses into the inner (ridged) part of the tire, it doesn't press through. There is only a few mm of inner tire material blocking the rim, and it seems like with some kind of industrial tool it might be possible to stretch the tire enough to get it over the rim edge, at which point I'd be able to screw much more easily. But I have been totally unable to get the tire over the rim edge manually, with either the technique shown in this video (using an Allen key as a lever in the honeycomb holes) or with tire irons.
    The amount of effort I'm putting in doesn't seem to match what's in this video. In this video, initial guide screw step the rim gets significantly further into the tire then I'm able to get it, and then in the "flip-and-lift" step, the tire seems to slide pretty easily onto the rim, where I can't get it to budge.
    I'm wondering whether there is maybe some subtle parts mismatch? I bought my VSett 9+ new in the US from Alien Rides (alienrides.com/). I assumed it was identical to the VSett 9+ that Falcon PEV sells, but perhaps I'm wrong? Is there some subtle difference in stock rim sizes between different batches of VSett 9+ sold in different countries?

    • @FalconpevSg
      @FalconpevSg  Před 2 lety

      No differences in rim size so they should be the same across the board. Yes the tire will be difficult to lift, but use a longer Allen key to leverage it over the rim. That’s the essential step. As to why the tire is made smaller than the rim is by design. At high speeds and heat from the motor causes the tire to expand, a nicely fit tire will run off the rims easily. A tightly fit tire will not.

      @SeanMackesey Před 2 lety +3

      @@FalconpevSg Thanks for the pointer-- I managed to succeed by using a larger Allen key as a lever. Can't stress how important it is to use a large enough key in this step, it makes it *much* easier!

  • @JoshStaffordD
    @JoshStaffordD Před 2 lety

    This tire does not fit my Zero 9. The width of the interior of the tire is 132mm and my rim is 145mm. In the video, it slips right on, in reality, 2 grown men could not get it to squeeze on. Using a screw driver and slipping it over the edge and then using the guide screws to squeeze it on only caused the guide screws to bend and eventually shear off. I do not know if I have an especially large Zero 9 or the tires I got were especially small, but I will be attempting to return them.

    • @FalconpevSg
      @FalconpevSg  Před 2 lety

      The reason why the honeycomb tire is made smaller than the actual rim is because at high speeds, it will slip out of the rim if it’s not extremely tight. We will do a video to show you that it fits a zero 9 rim. It takes the right tools and some effort.

    We have the VSETT9+ at home and it has been a major disappointment. The amount of times we have gotten flats can be counted on one hand… EVERY MONTH! Tried every kind of tire option. Even changing out the wheels is a horrendous process that was clearly not tested properly. Unless you are skilled with repairs of this type you are out of luck because you will not be able to change it. I wish there was a way to return this thing or swap it out. At this point it is nearly unusable because you can pretty much guarantee you will get stranded somewhere. Or maybe we just got a bad one out of the batch…
